I love how everybody says this ride is shit not knowing this particular ride is probably the reason that every not-boring ride that they’ve ridden exists
I remember riding this as a kid when we visited Texas. It seemed like such an amazing ride! A real trip down memory lane for me now, so Thanks for Posting! 😃
I couldn't identify most coasters by sound alone, but I can identify Mr. Freeze instantly. It SOUNDS like a cold wind. Makes me wonder if it was intentionally designed that way or just a happy accident.
The only Arrow mine train that no longer operates even after relocating was Excalibur from Astroworld formerly known as Dexter’s Frebish Electric Roller Ride. This operated at Astroworld from 1972 to 1998 where it was put in storage at Frontier City from 1998 to 2005 when it was finally scrapped. Apparently during demolition and when it was relocated it was damage beyond repair.
This was my first "big kid" roller coaster. Still love it, but ugh, the jolt on that third lift hill is ridiculous! But the back is still the best on this one, especially at the end when you just watch each car in front of you vanish down the last hill before you go!
First 'coaster I ever rode, about 50 years ago. Rode it again back in Oct. when I was in Dallas on business. Still a lot of fun, but I don't recall it being as jerky as it was.
Yes, remember this coaster is from 1966 and was one of the first steel coasters out there, along with being the prototype of this particular coaster type (Arrow Mine Train). Prototypes are usually less intense than the ones built after it, unless you talk about RMC Raptors but yeah This coaster model eventually became Magnum XL 200 at Cedar Point, the world’s first coaster to be taller than 200ft, with some wicked airtime
@@asphaltandtacos ikr. If it wasn’t for Runaway Mine Train, all the other tubular steel coasters (aside from Matterhorn Bobsleds) probably wouldn’t even exist

You're right
Give this ride some respect for being what it is, a first big step to modern roller coasters... :(
3 lift hills is insanity. Ron Toomer was a mad man.
Very nice.
I love this ride! The clickity-clack of the lift hills is an awesome sound - FUN! 😊😊😊
First roller coaster for me in 1968! Seemed a lot bigger then! lol!
Me too! I was probably about 5 or 6. I remember it being MUCH more intense.
They still haven’t put the waterfall cave back after the second hill lift

Ive loved this ride ever since I was a kid going in the 90's
Whataday i have a gut felling you had a hamburger at the park and soda 🍔 i had steak and beer 🥩🍻
@@timothywait9457 wrong, I had a few blunts and then ate at Dennys across the street after the park closed
This will always be my all time favorite ride at SFOT. I have ridden it hundreds of times since 1980 and it is always fun! 😄😄😄
AliceF its not the best ride in the park not even in the top 8
Riding in the back is the best! You get a lot more whip and you don’t expect the last drop 😮
There really is no coaster sound better than Mr. Freeze

I rode this the very first time when I was 6 years old. This would have been in 1971.

My favorite when we used to come here back in the 70's

I worked at that ride. I enjoyed being the lift attendant.
This is the second tubular steel coaster built, after The Matterhorn at Disneyland.
Experienced this at night during fright fest haha
THAT. WAS. GOOD.
My favorite mine train coasters are the ones outside of Disney Parks that features a thrilling experience and a setting based on the Old West.
Timber Topper/Rock N Roller Coaster at Opryland was a mine train. I ran that for 3 years. Those old skid brakes look so familiar.
My first coaster!
The first Arrow mine train, and the jank shows it.

Once it gets going, it’s really something.

This gotta be the original arrow mine train
You’re correct
I went on that and the last drop scared me
The -Jogaway- Runaway Mine Train
The First time i rode this i did not expecet the gambling room drop
That’s it?

One word mrbeast
Needs new paint
Well that looks boring as shit
It’s much more fun on the ride
It was the mine train prototype tho
The ride is exciting
Your comment is boring
