I’m from Nebraska and we come to Hawaii every year. We stay on the East side if the island in the Waimanalo area and are soooo drawn to Kailua. It feels like home. 🤙🏽

Now that I have been here for almost 2 years, I know EXACTLY where I will move to in the spring. There is only ONE place that feels like home. And I am not going to mention it. I love going to the beach there and being almost the only person there every weekend. I would NEVER live in Kailua or town, that is one thing I know. And of course, if I am in position to buy I will use Derek or Mahe, without a doubt.

When I was 13 I was able to go to Hawaii and live with my mom's adoptive family for the whole summer. One day I said "hey I'm gonna go down to town and get some candy" they looked at me crazy and said "town? That's way far away" then I said "oh, I thought it was down the street" and me being from the mainland they said "oh no, town here is Honolulu!" Haha something I'll always remember. This was in Kahuku. Gonna try to go back and visit within the next few years.

Currently living in Mililani Town. My work puts me all over the entire island so I get to observe/see all parts of it, and the only other place I would choose to live would still be Mililani, but up in Mauka. Such a good community.

Good knowledge! I need to find the first video I saw in the Living on Hawaii channel, because I thought it was so-so, and thought I wouldn't enjoy your other videos. I was recommend more of your videos and you're a mainlander whisperer. You explain things so well. When you drop knowledge about the relationship of Oakland and Piedmont, Bay Area people watching your videos researching/dreaming about making the move out of California are perking up their ears.

I never ever thought about where town start and stopped. It was always Honolulu and the airport was town and everything else was everything else. Grew up in Pearl City and than Kunia before my family and I moved to the states. Pearl Ridge shopping Center was the best. Being an 80s child, I have fond memories of The Fernandez Fun Factory and stores like Daiei.

I'm 75 born and raised in Wahiawa now living in Northern California. To me and my friends going to town was the area around Fort St and the commercial areas. We would take the bus to town to shop on Fort St. Now I wouldn't use that same description. I would have no idea where town starts and stops sadly. Will always regret moving to the mainland and leaving Wahiawa

It's hard to imagine anyone, other than .5% of all people who live in the United States, can warrant living in a sub-par built home, single wall construction, louvered windows, lack of square footage, or a home lacking of the qualities for your money that you can get elsewhere. $1.2 + million dollar homes that would be worth $300-$400,000 elsewhere? My heart goes out to younger families that cannot experience a better quality of life there in Hawaii. My heart goes out to the locals as well! I lived there for 12 years. There needs to be a serious correction in the housing market there in Hawaii. This includes ALL the islands. There's no way to justify any of these prices for the quality you get. Yes, Hawaii does offer paradise living, but how much do the residence currently there sacrifice for it? Not worth it! Living in a condo the answer? How about high HOA's and leasehold prices you have to contend with? I owned a condo so I speak from experience.

The locals and us native islanders have been and will be forced out of our islands eventually! Priced out by rich developers and foreigners who have no rights to any of the land! A little history lesson on how natives had our land stolen by the government! Pretty sad!

So I live in New EWA BEACH…(not the older housing) and I think EWA is the best side. The new Hasseko and Ocean Pointe homes look BETTER than Kapolei and old Ewa over by that run down high school. I try to not go past Pappi Road because there’s hella homeless over there. EWA BEACH (the new parts) feel the safest to me and the homes are NEW!!!!! Plus you are literally right by Wai Kai surf center and a short drive to the nice little mall Ka Makana. Ala Moana is still the BEST mall downtown. To anyone who’s never been to Oahu 🚫AVOID anything over by School street and the LikeLike highway, called the “Kam 4” projects 🚫 it’s the “hood” 😂 filled with fake Bloods and Crips who think they are hard 😂 fughazi Gangstas throwing off the island vibe
