Inspiring. I bought an Invicta 26 last year which is on the hard and costing me for the storage! Have so far so far to strip most things off (engine in my garage after a rebuild) and will spend this winter sanding the hull and top side to be ready for nice shiny paint in the Spring, then get launched so i can start taking baby steps.
Great video. I bought my boat from Bucklers Hard too - I did see Stowaway up on the hard with a few other neglected boats and did think it was a shame she was sat there unused so it is good to see her brought back to life. I hope you get lots of enjoyment from her.
Well done, I love it. Its a bit of a project boat but who doesnt love a project boat? I see many fun filled adventures ahead and already starting to wonder where a boat like that might take you? Boat projects and good sailing is win win if you ask me 😊
Ahoy Sam, good headway made with the new boat. Just want to say thanks for making a jam packed video. Enjoy the space and extra speed through the water :)
Hi Sam, thank you for your video, and others. Might catch sight of ‘Stowaway’ when I have a beer at the ‘Butt and Oyster.’ I reckon the new boat will be wonderful👍😁phil.
Nic 32 - excellent choice of boat. Your priority jobs look spot on 👍Having taken ownership of my new boat 4 weeks ago, there was so much of this video which made me laugh in empathy😂 (whilst I sit out another gale on my maiden trip back to Anglesey from Poole)
What a fine seaboat and with some more elbow grease when you have a gap in sailing trips she will polish up beautifully. Nice fitting of the wind vane on such short notice. Looking forward to seeing more seatime on board with you in future trips. Good solid investment for happy cruising! SkipRay, Kerry.👍
Lots os similar work to do on my new to me Sadler. She's down near Fambridge but considering Pin Mill for next year. A really useful overview of the manual bilge pump. Thanks for that Sam. ⛵
Brilliant choice. I got my Nic 32 last July, she will treat you well stowaway was one of the boats I was considering but was too far away cool to see her on your channel can’t wait for more videos
Great choice of boat Sam. Nearly completed on one some 25 years ago that was on the Isle of Murter in Croatia. She was one of the last built and a real beauty. Sad reality was that I would not get the time from work to use her. Real regret, should have just brought her back to the UK. Will be watching your further adventures with a little envy.
Congrats with another dumpster of a boat .. wonder why y go for these old trachcans... It just lot of work and money . Just to get the fundamental inorder . Plus a lot more to sail it . OMG 😱 Is it worth it . ?
A very nice step along the yacht pontoon !!😉😎. The World is now your oyster......or your Nicholson. It will be great if you let us know how she behaves compared to Katrina in different situations. Happy sailing.
Great video and a great, great yacht. I had a Mk III Nicholson 32, had her from 2010 when I left the Royal Marines, to 2018 and we went from Portsmouth, all the way around to the med, out to the Canaries, Caribbean, Venezuelan coast (which was pretty hairy) and to and through the Panama Canal, across the Pacific, taking in the Galapagos and South Sea islands, finishing in Australia, where I sold her and flew back to the UK. Without a doubt, the best years of my life. I'm now living in the med with the wife aboard my floating home, which is a Westerly Oceanlord. Are you intending to take Stowaway right around at some point? Now I've found you channel, I'll be following with much interest mate. Fair winds buddy
Wow thats some trip. The boat is currently undergoing a mini revamp, i've got a list of upgrades i'd like to do to make things more self sufficient for offgrid cruising. Solar, fridge, cooker etc. I bought the boat for ocean passages and thats the plan however I've got quite a bit of work to do first. Thanks for watching.
A good one to have after a H22, so similar hull, can see from the end bit she sails well. They have a reputation for being light on the helm. You will feel safe in her, I've had a few long keel boats, H22, MG30, Halmatic 30, Invicta 26 (two of them). Maybe consider removing the paint and restoring the gelcoat.
That's an impressive fleet, your yard fees must be horrendous! :) I nearly went for a Halcyon 27, another great boat. Bringing back the gelcoat would be fantastic.
@@samsails9820 They're all past boats, I forgot about my Halcyon 27, I had one about15 years ago, she was sailed to Majorca by her present owner. (Corycia on UA-cam). I do still have a Rival long time owned but tend to buy different types now, I am a collector and yard fees are a killer.
Hope you enjoy the new boat, but shame you have let katrina go as i was all set to leave her in Alchemy's wake this year. On the plus side, we should be in store for some great videos in the future as the Nic 32 is a out and out sea boat.
If I was using polyester resin glass would have been used but West systems epoxy is extremely strong, in this application i've mixed a high strength bonding agent to further strengthen the area. Any larger and biaxial cloth would have been used.
The Hebridean is a self build wind vane self steering system. I bought the kit for this which was supplied through the.post with laser cut metal parts and full plans to build. There is a website and facrbook page
Thanks Sam for the info on the wind vane.. I too will be sailing out of Pin Mill so I may bump into you in the Butt and stand you a pint!.. Enjoyed following your adventures with the Hurley 22..
traumatised by your engine light being on :-) (also don't suppose you follow much sailing UA-cam - but the boat boys also have a Nicholson 32 www.youtube.com/@theboatboys_uk - just sailed across the Atlantic in it)

In three days you’ve done more than I would in three months! Nice boat. Looking forward to future updates. Fair winds 🙂
Such a lovely boat. A proper blue water boat.

She’s a beauty Sam. Good work!
Wow! I can't wait to watch the next video and to see you on the water! Congrats 😊
Great work, well done. Shes a lovely boat and im sure you can get her completely sorted over the winter after a season sailing.

Lots of low pressure in the Atlantic this time of year, all the best bringing your boat round 👍
Great choice of yacht Sam ,can't go wrong with a nick 32
Great work, she looks good.. will keep my eye out for her on the Orwell 👍
Remember Stowaway’she was berthed in Kyleikin Skye Scotland in July/ August 2014 she looked very tidy at the time
Excellent video. I'm amazed at how much you got done. When I'm working on my boat, time just slips by and I just end up with finding more jobs! 😂

Go anywhere boat, enjoy.

Exciting stuff Sam. Is this your new adventure or have I missed out ?...Welcome back anyway!
nice one Sam- Looking fwd to following your adventures in the new vessel. let us know if you're ever around West Mersea way?
Still on the to do list, thanks for watching 👍
Great video sam looking forward to the next one 👍
Bit of an upgrade!
Boats of this era can be cheap,, even free,, the guys with money want fast modern fin keelers

Hi Sam. Who did you get to do your survey? Would be useful to have more names in mind than I currently do
I checked the boat out myself so can't recommend any surveyors.

How many sanding disks dd you get through in the six hours? I suspect I prolong jobs by not changing the abrasive often enough.
It was about three on each side, kept sander at mid speed.
@@samsails9820 Thank you.
Does that area around the rudder heel not need some glass?

did you sell the Hurley mate?
Katrina is for sale online, ebay and apolloduck

I've seen some of their episodes, they've covered a good distance. Turbo related sensor fault...sigh!
