I have a complete set of high end cymbals for my home kit. But I've been looking for some beat-around cymbals for a secondary kit to leave at a rehearsal space and wouldn't cry if they got broken. I am very picky. I chose Zildjian ZBTs, 13", at $30 for the pair. I don't regret it.
I should also say that the reason I chose zildjian was not because I am a "fan". If anything I'm sold out to Meinl. But I have cymbals of all brands and lines, all pro, on my home kit. Long as it sounds good, ill buy it - entry level or hand crafted.
Sabian B8 Performance pack or Zildjian ZBT pack? they both include the same items; 14' hi-hats, 16'&18' crashes, and a 20' ride which has a better metal sound?
You get what you pay for. It took me some years to save up and buy my cymbals. 15 inch A Custom , Mastersound Hats, 10 inch A Custom Splash, 12 inch WuHan china splash, 18 inch K Custom Dark Medium Thin Crash, 19 inch K Custom Hybrid Crash, and 21 inch K Custom Crash/Ride. When I was finally able to buy them, it was soo worth the time and wait.
@afheadra Paiste's PST3's are Brass, not bronze, so if your going in that direction it would have to be the PST5's, even though the cost is higher. And the ZBT's would be correct for this comparison. All of this is my opinion, yours can vary.
@Benny Jackson - .... What do you mean? That's totally subjective. Zildjian make great high end cymbals, yes. But so do Sabian (HHX), Paiste (Twenty, etc), Meinl, etc.. It's about your taste.
@kidgravexiii Same here/ I have no clue what it is about Meinl, but I LOVE their cymbals. I couldn't find the right sounding ride from any company until I started looking at theirs. I'm a little picky with rides and hats. lol
@joshuachan56 of course I do, I'm just saying that there should be cymbals of the same price range.meinl sabian and zildjian cost 250-300 euros.paiste cost 120-150. They should at least put pst3s!!
The Meinl sound the most precise for funk and jazz. The ZBT's and Sabian B8's sound hard rocking, The paiste's are in the middle but the closed chick sounds the cheapest on the paiste's IMO. Of course, he seems to hit the B8's and ZBT's the hardest or is it just me?
@shakakamooroar Nothing farther from the truth. You can't say what brand makes better cymbals for whatever "level". I think Paiste has the best value for entry level cymbals, I think they sound the best personally. But they also have great intermediate and pro cymbals. You can't say one brand does one "level" of cymbals better, because they ALL offer good quality stuff.
I ordered the mienl hats. 14". My set came w/ agazarian hats. They're decent starting, but kinda trashy. My agazarian crash though... practicaly a china! But, probably cuz agaz is mainly china's(I think so at least)
1.Meinl 2.Sabian 3.Zildjian 4.Paiste (actually 201's are a lot cheaper than the other cymbals...i don't know why they're comparing them...they should put Pst5's instead of 201's)
@petshop930 Lol zildjian is the best brand out of all of those... Just dont go for lower grade cymbals save your money and grab some nice 14" a custom mastersound hi hats ;)
Yeah, I must admit Zildjian defiantly make the best high end cymbals there's no doubt about that, Its just their low end ones like ZBT , planet z ect..... that sound like crap
Don't particularly care for any of them. They would be good for loud, speed metal, where you need the volume to cut through all the gain and distortion of the other instruments, but your not really concerned with complexity of sound. I'd rate the Meinl's 1st, the Paiste's last, and it's a toss up between the Sabian and Zildjian. I normally like Paiste and Zildjian cymbals, but not so much here. Truthfully, I wouldn't spend money on any of these. I actually had a set of ZBT 13" Zildjian hi hats that sounded significantly better than any of these.
Sonaron todos muy parecido pero el sonido abierto de paiste fue lo mejor 0:24
they all sound good.... if I had to pick from these 4 sets.. I'd go with the Zildjian ZBT
+Nick Molnar that's okay... I think I can fix them... ;)
ZBT soa duro demais pra vencer o comparativo

I have those Meinl hats and they sound so much different in real life.
@myrtia Because PST 5 are mid-level bronze and 201 are beginner bronze. I'm sure you understand the difference between mid-level and beginner, right?
Sabian B8 Performance pack
or Zildjian ZBT pack?

i have the sabian b8's, and they are awesome
Should I upgrade my Zlidjian ZBT hats to Sabian's AAX 14'' hats? :) How is it worth it? Cuz it's still 230$...
@afheadra Paiste's PST3's are Brass, not bronze, so if your going in that direction it would have to be the PST5's, even though the cost is higher. And the ZBT's would be correct for this comparison.

For easy comparison: Sabian B8 0:01, Paiste 0:19, Zildjian ZBT 0:37 and Meinl MCS 0:54.

i have ZBTs and they sound great, although all of these hi hats sound similar.
Meinl mcs, zbts or b8s?
I have them, they're awesome :0
@joshuachan56 of course I do, I'm just saying that there should be cymbals of the same price range.meinl sabian and zildjian cost 250-300 euros.paiste cost 120-150. They should at least put pst3s!!

Great video! All models good. This prove that it is all market and money for nothing. You can play good with cheap cymbals.
I ordered the mienl hats. 14". My set came w/ agazarian hats. They're decent starting, but kinda trashy. My agazarian crash though... practicaly a china! But, probably cuz agaz is mainly china's(I think so at least)
