Under 90 points would be terrible. They're so underrated right now it's crazy. 5 point progession you guys are saying? If they stay healthy this team could easily push for a wildcard spot. They didnt have Dach last year. No laine. 20 + games missed for newhook and savard i think? Monahan traded. Pretty sure Guhle missed a decent amount of games too. 3 goalies rotation...cmon now

As a Habs fan I agree but I’ll be honest, I don’t want anyone picking the Habs to do well. The vibes are so much better if they surprise. It also gives Hughes cover in case we have more terrible injury luck. He pulled off the type of offseason I dream of and I know he’s the right GM to bring the Cup home. However, they aren’t winning it this year so all I’m looking for is everyone to get better and build for the future. Do I think they make the playoffs? Yup, but we don’t need media thinking that and putting the pressure on this young team

They're not remotely close to 90 points lol. 80+ would be an accomplishment

They are absolutely a 90 pt team if healthy. With adding Laine and Hutson on the blueline. The PP will improve. They played 24 one goal games tops in the NHL. Lost most of them so with Dach, Laine and adding Hutson they will absolutely score more & win those one goal games

@@Downie1968 Agree to disagree I guess. I don't think they're that good. 77-84 is the range I'm comfortable landing them in.

Yeah people are forgetting that the division is still the toughest in hockey. Detroit is clearly on the cusp and Ullmark can clearly make a huge difference for the sens who had the worst goaltending last year. Yes I know these teams are always “right on the cusp” but be real, they’re clearly on the upswing here. Plus there’s Boston, Florida, tampa, Toronto…. Then in the metro the rangers, Carolina, Washington got much better, nj had a fantastic offseason… there’s just too many teams to jump over.
Not to mention that just because we had one goal games doesn’t mean we’ll win them this year. Expecting Dach and laine to stay healthy is far from a sure bet. They have both been very injured recently. We’re also probably going to trade Dvorak, armia, savard etc as they are all on expiring contracts.
Is there a path to the playoffs? Yes. But we need MUCH better healthy, continued development from the kids, and SEVERAL other teams to falter. It’s just highly unlikely that all those stars align.
Well probably end with around a top 10 pick if I had to guess. And considering that will be with us trading away even more vets, that’s pretty good. It’s the 2025/26 season where I think we make it. Slaf will be in full swing. Hutson will have a season under his belt. Reinbacher and Mailloux will probably be on the team. The old vets will mostly be gone. Demidov will be on the team…. I think that’s our first playoff year.
      Just too early this year

You think 76 points is high for Nick Suzuki this year? How did you come to this conclusion when the entirety of last year he was constantly facing the opposing team's best line in the matchup, and the powerplay was absolute dog shit. When Dach left in the 4th period of the season, and sean monahan got dealt that's when he actually picked up steam lol. Throw Laine, or Dach on the powerplay and he's getting 76 points all day everyday.

I'm not saying this will happen.... would be great if it did , but for Laine - with a coach like Marty, with the type of atmosphere and culture that they are building and nurturing, and with a team of guys that have completely bought into what Kent is envisioning, and believing that they truly are the core that will compete all the way to Lord Stanley's beautiful mug, and the Precision and utmost care that the entirety of the management team has put into seeing that this team.... this team of the future.... this young team, growing together, learning together, building chemistry together, and being able to have the pieces that are about to fall into place, that will give them an honest to God chance at being something Great, something with an Actual Factual Seriously For Real Chance at being a lasting contender with a tangible endurance and very real threat in our division... Hell, in this league.... yeah, I believe Laine could have an undeniable career resurrection(and I'm not saying it died). It lay dormant and faded, and his surroundings - which involve a number of negative factors/(call them whatever you want, be it - thorns/ weights/ negative influences/ demons in his closet), in his life, that needed to be dealt with and walked away from. Yeah, maybe it'll be an awe-inspiring, life changing, and shocking career resurrection, and perhaps this is the Complete and necessary 180° turn around that the person - Patrick Laine, the player - Patrick Laine, and true teammate - Patrick Laine, needed to happen. Yeah, something inside me really really really believes that he will honestly, whole-heartedly, fight and battle every night with this group, this family of guys, this team of brothers, that all totally believe in each other just as much as they believe in themselves, and he'll leave every ounce of talent and determination out on that ice every night.... yeah, it could be spectacular.... who knows, right? But with all the signs, all the chess pieces that Kent the Magic man has gathered together(current roster players, and prospects with undeniable NHL star talent) and He has been checking ✔️ one box at a time, not missing a single detail, details that are needed.... needed to become..... ☆A Dynasty☆.... Yeah, I dream.... but come on...... Where there's smoke, there's fire 🔥, and this one? This flicker of hope?
WELL, THIS ONE is SO CLOSE!!!
    BURN HOT, and BURN BRIGHT!!!
    GO HABS GO!!!!!!
    ☆I believe☆

How many one goal games did Montreal come out on the wrong end of? Turn that around and 15 to 20 extra points are not out of the question.

I am a Habs fan but I don't see them making the playoffs this year, There are just too many better teams ahead of them and the Habs are terrible at getting the puck out of their own zone when they are under pressure. I would have kept Kovacevic and traded Baron. They don't need Baron for offence when we have Matheson, Maiyeau, and Hutson. I don't think that MSL can coach defense because of his lack of coaching experience! If they could pickup Sid, I think they could make one of the wildcard slots if everything goes well (no major injuries). I see them being a formidable team in 3 to 4 years from now.

I love this stupid league wide narrative that because somebody’s exceptional playing offense they’re incapable of playing defence. So lazy and stupid.

They are legit atrocious defensively. Only one of them has positive analytics, and that’s xhekaj who plays third pairing minutes.
Matheson and Hutson are great offensively but below average defensively.
Savard is old, slow, and has poor analytics plus he’s probably going to be traded.
Guhle has a great future, but he’s struggling in his current role. Playing him on the top pair on his off side is giving him great experience etc, but the results have been pretty bad. That’s totally fine cuz it’s just for his development and will help him down the road, but he’s definitely playing in a more difficult role than he’s suited for right now (his analytics are also pretty bad).
Then there’s what, Barron and Struble? This is not a good D group. I firmly believe it WILL BE a fantastic one. But it’s bad right now. When guhle, reinbacher, Hutson, Mailloux, xhekaj etc are all in their prime I can see it as a top 3-5 d group in the league. But it is objectively quite bad right now

@@markfrost5149 I will respectfully disagree. Is this the same analytics department that says Suzuki is not a #1 centre? But u have to think also they’ve had 2 -3 yrs under their belts now and have progressed well so there’s nothing saying that they won’t progress even more this year. But we shall see once the season begins
