If you are a Cub or Indian Fan, think of the incredible significance of Kris Bryant rounding third and going balls to the wall for Home Plate and being safe. That is game and Series right there. Think of Ben Zobrist HUGE hit down 3B Line to go up 7/6. I am a lifelong Cubs Fan for over 55 years. Still excited and VERY HAPPY about the outcome of that Game 7. That being said, the extra innings Game 7 of the 2016 MLB World Series was the Greatest Baseball game of all time, regardless of which team won the game / Series.
I think it continues to be a blowout or a comfortable lead if you keep Kyle in. Let Kyle go 6 then bring in Lester. Especially since Joe already had to know that Chapman's arm was dead. Roll as long as you can with the people who dominated all season/postseason. Especially Kyle, he ALWAYS showed up BIG!
well, considering the stakes, yes but it's not as good as the 2011 cardinals-rangers game 6. There's been way more than 5 better games but not the biggest game of the year. So, top 5 greatest games considering the situation.
My opinion only, that was best game 7 of MLB World Series ever played. That was some heart stopping / Heart starting, and Heart Pounding excitement! 😎✌️😉
@@troyhbkthat game honestly wasn't that great, only the cardinals hold that game so highly. Almost every baseball fan has 2016 game 7 as the greatest game ever
Maddon hooks Hendricks in the 5th when he's cruising with a 5-1 lead and had allowed only 4 hits. Hmm....Lester comes in and is a little wild which allows Indians to push across 2 runs. In the 8th Ramirez gets a lucky infield hit with 2 outs and Maddon pulls Lester to bring in an overworked Aroldis Chapman. He surrenders 3 straight hits including Davis' 2-run HR that ties game 6-6. Maddon reminds me of Dusty Baker who was equally inept at managing pitching changes. Just let the pitching coach handle decisions regarding pitchers, they're much better at it.
key moments = 6:49 = if that ball gets past KB, I think the Indians would have won the game .... also ... at 11:01= if Davis does not catch that ball, the Cubs Easily win the game in 9 ...
He had 2 hits with 5 RBIs that postseason. One of each for that 10th inning hit and against the dodgers he hit a grand slam. Both were some of the most impactful hits of that postseason
Boy that's the understatement of all time, it's like he was trying to blow the World series, using Chapman in game 6, pulling Hendricks in game 7. You're going whatttttt
I know this is a few years old but I hate seeing all these people saying Joe Maddon managed this game poorly. As someone who has read "The Cubs Way" multiple times, I know certain decisions were made for certain reasons. So many people crapping on Joe from behind a computer screen is laughable, and even Tom Verducci mentions in the book how many people criticize guys like Joe , who have been in baseball for half their lifetime, from behind a computer screen. Without Joe Maddon, they don't even make the WS. Without the brilliance of Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer, they don't make the WS. And without some incredible players like Rizzo, Bryant, Arrieta and Lester, they absolutely don't make the WS. So much goes into winning a championship of this caliber, especially when 108 teams in the franchise failed to do so before them. This will forever be one of the greatest WS ever, and shoutout to this team for breaking a century long curse!
The Cubs won in the 10th and 8 runs = 108 year (10 + 8 = 108). 2016 - 1908 = 108 There are 108 stitches on a baseball. The Sears Tower (The Willis Tower) is a 108-story.

Bringing Andrew Miller out for a second inning was pretty awful managing by Terry. He looked very shaky and was giving up hard contact in the first inning he pitched so I don’t understand the decision at all. Imagine if he never gives up that HR to Ross what could’ve happened.
2024 and I still get mad watching Maddon pull Lester to bring in Chapman who literally had thrown 62 pitches in the last 2 games. Could've put anyone else in and they probably don't tie it
Joe Maddon made some of the worst manager blunders I’ve ever seen just in this game. It still bothers me that he took Hendricks and Lester out that soon to put in Chapman whose arm was probably dead.
2024 Cleveland fan here, i am actually sick of this damn team! We're looking amazing this year but I know we're gonna blow it somehow! Just like we blew the 2016 WS! All Cleveland knows how to do is waste prime chances to take home a damn ring!
Kris Bryant’s base running (resulting in two runs) was absolutely clutch to this game as was Almora’s advance to 2nd in the 10th.
2024 and I still search to watch this from time to time!

I think Kyle Hendricks should’ve stayed in the ballgame . He was pitching magnificent. I think Joe took him out to early...

No doubt man he was pitching for his life
brought in Chapman too early
He could’ve gone 7 innings at least. It almost cost the Cubs the World Series.
Arguably top 5 greatest baseball games of all time?

Even to this day, Joe Maddon still makes you wonder why he still manages a baseball team.

Not a fan of either team, but man that was one heck of a World Series.
That Montero, hitting 0.91 comes thru again with the winning RBI...but when a team loses 3 games in a row, the
blame can only be put on the manager!
