    Actually, testing gaming on MacBook Pro can be tricky. Playing 10 minutes and 60 minutes are heaven and hell difference. You need to play at least 30 minutes to show the real performance.

      Please, do you research before you imply that the video is unfair. The games he reviewed had a mac os version. It was a fair comparison. In the end of the day the macbook pro is a 3k dollar machine and the only advantage it has over a 1k dollar windows machine is that it can run Final Cut Pro.

    Some of these lagspikes look more like the laptop is running low on ram or the cpu is maxing out, which makes no sense given the configuration.

    Hi Greg, thanks for the video, really informative!
    What was your impression of the fan noise during gaming? I like to play some slower games like Civ VI or Rimworld in Bed before sleeping while my GF reads a book. However as of now even during graphically non demanding games like Mini Metro or Hearthstone the fans of my MacBook Pro 13 Retina (2014) are loud af to the point that I even hear them through my Airpods, which is obiously disturbing anyone around me.
    Now my current Mac doesnt have nearly as much power as the newer and bigger ones, but if this power comes with the same noise an upgrade wouldn't be really helpful to me.

    • @GregsGadgets
      @GregsGadgets  5 років тому +1

      The fans are definitely still loud when playing games at least to me. Especially if you have the sound turned off. I hope that helps.
      Edit: check out my other video at 6:29 mark. You can get an idea what the fans sound like under a heavy load. ua-cam.com/video/GD4k5fKF_oI/v-deo.html

    I didn't buy my '19 MBP for gaming as I do not play many games, (although I did get the Radeon 5500m 8Gb upgrade), however I was dabbling in certain games like CS:GO and War Thunder and Ive been getting around 100 to 150 FPS on all high 1440 res. The issues start when it gets hot and throttles, and in War Thunder it will drop to 70-80 fps in crazy situations. The MBP monitor is actually only 60hz anyway, and I typically use V-sync (on WT at least) which caps the FPS to 60 flat anyway. Ive never seen any FPS below 60, so I am happy about that.
    If you are doing intense gaming, you definitely should not be using a Mac anyway. Personally this computer really fits my needs, even though I spent ********* $2000 with AppleCare and all ($3000 - 25% discount - a bunch of Apple gift cards). What can I say, I need Apples Core Audio framework for my uses and Windows ASIO framework is garbage in comparison.

    Ahh man I just dropped $2700 on an i9 MBP 16” with the 8gb Radeon pro 5500.... Even with my 25% employee discount! The things MacOS users need to deal with who just want decent hardware...

    I like everything about the new MacBooks EXCEPT the horrendous keyboard. There’s just no satisfaction of pressing keys anymore. The new 16” MacBook Pro has the scissor switch keyboards, but it costs a House

    I don't mind the odd bit of iOS gaming but for me, I'll always be more of a Nintendo gamer. Love my Switch, and occasionally on my PS4 for those exclusives!

      rico MexicanEagle it’s all depending on ur budget, my first build was around £1000, and it still kicks ass today, obviously the more u put in the better. And never ever buy pre build pcs, they are horrible

    • @petervasz3739
      @petervasz3739 4 роки тому

      rico MexicanEagle get something built you can get a decent custom built pc for about $500. But i would go with a pc around $1k- $1.5k unless your a professional streaming and gaming and running all kinds of programs you should be more than solid with a $500 pc
