To set her up for that great training scene with Liandrin that derived from book 2. It was odd to see her with a sword at first, but made more sense after the Liandrin scene.
thanks for stopping in - I can totally see her with a sword and yeah I love how it ties in with the scene with Liandrin and made more sense than Siuan doing this scene too.
Think you overlooked Nynaeve's words to Moraine during their first conversation. The Older Wisdom had gone to Tar Valon for training. The Aes Sedai never tested her, just looked at her poor clothing, and refused her admittance. Nynaeve grew up resenting the Aes Sedai for this treatment of her mentor. She already had a built-in resentment towards the Aes Sedai, and I think it further fueled her trauma. Once again, I thank you for your in-depth analysis of these scenes.
that is indeed a relevant point, I love how many more levels there are to Nynaeve's distrust of the Aes Sedai in the show - not just that Moiraine 'took her kids away'
thanks Beverly! we can be made to feel so uncomfortable by the treatment our character friends receive, and it really makes us think. glad you enjoyed!
Non book reader: I really enjoyed your video and thoughts. You brought up something that has always bothered me about "Lan" from season 1. I too noticed how quickly Maksim corrected Nynaeve (Ivon concurred through his facial expression} when she attempted to be disrespectful to Alanna. I do not recall once when Lan attempted to correct or stop Nynaeve on the many occasions that she showed disrespect towards Moiraine. And I know that most may feel that Lan can do no wrong, but for me allowing her to continue to be disrespectful towards Moiraine (his Aes Sedai) in his presence was unacceptable.
I am so grateful for this comment! I have to admit I had not quite thought about this particular aspect. So, I'm going to have a good look at this as I'm rewatching S1 over the next couple of weeks with my non book reader friend Cathy. I'm going to then make a reply to you, possibly in the format of a breakdown on that very point! This is where discussion is just so good - you get to really think about so much more. THANKS!

@@koalasedai I’m not totally sure if #FixItRafe applies here, but…#FixItRafe! We were robbed of this scene in the books. 😫
@@rapunzl347 seems like a definite #FixitRafe application

Great video!

Well spoken. You explain her exactly as she is. Also in the books i didn't like how egwene and elyina (sp) treated her.

@@koalasedaiI don’t recall that happening, she mostly takes shots at him and talk to Moriane directly, something she does not have with Alanna
@@dammygold4138 that's why I'm going to be on alert watching for this. I already have some thoughts ... ;)
