- Fecal Microbiota Transplant (FMT) means taking the stool from a healthy donor and transplanting it into the colon of the host (a sick individual). There is excellent evidence to support the use of FMT for clostridium difficile and emerging evidence for the treatment of IBD. The data for IBS is still unclear. It’s best to try other therapies first.

@@01284nsfg There was one clinic doing FMT in B.C., but they stopped. There are options in the U.K., Slovakia, Turkey, Poland, Russia. I know of the clinics in Turkey, the UK, Slovakia, at least. I will do it for myself.
I was on antidepressants for a couple of years many years ago. After I stopped I got IBS. I had IBS for many years after that. Then it suddenly dissapeared. A couple of years ago I started on something called Olanzapine. I took that for a couple of years, and stopped. Getting diahhrea for a week and stomach issues. And now IBS returned. Drugs suck! :(

The quality of the donor is extremely important. A donation from a super donor (top 0.1% of people) is very effective in curing ibs.
How do you know if it's effective in curing IBS. I know it definitely cures IBD. Some studies say it may help reduce symptoms of IBS. Unfortunately, it's not readily available for people with IBS. No idea why.

How about you tell us more abouth these” avaiable therapies” since nothing seems to work and we have every day a living nightmare. I have 2.5 years since i eat rice, chicken and potatoes. I hate even the word “food”
I know what you mean. I can easily eat potatoes, chicken, rice, eggs, and maybe bell peppers.
To have a fecal transplant, should I stop taking immunosuppressive medications?

I think you're more likely to benefit if you could have several treatments. of FMT. The other therapies often don't work. We can't limit ourselves to just a few foods. We hear about diet this and diet that. It's not helping enough. I take probiotics (low histamine), enzymes, HCL, and still sick. More research is pointing that FMT is helpful and most other recommendations don't help most people with IBS. Let's face it.

@@DrRuscioDC I will give it a listen. I am planning on doing FMT this summer via endoscopy. I have tried. The GI doctors have been useless for my symptoms - no dig against the doctors. It's complicated.
