- Faced with 2 possible routes to get to Dushanbe, we decide to take the route that everyone told is not to, and what a beautiful route it was... but it doesnt all go to plan.
In the last few eps you would have seen us go through the Zorkul National Park, and then we carried on along the Pamir river towards Khorog. In this episode we are about half way through our Tajikistan trip and when we get to Kalaikhum we have to make the decision on which route to go
We stumble upon many cyclists and other motorbike riders. We also stay at some of the most beautiful campsites we have ever been to. In tajikistan you can literally camp wherever you want.
The scenery is stunning. riding up into the snow capped mountains and along the side of strong white water rivers. This is definitely up there with some of the most beautiful landscapes we have experienced on the trip so far
everything was going so well until we hit a river that seems too deep to cross. so we turn around to find another way, although we then hit a mudslide that takes as a few hours to cross. The locals easily push their light motorbikes across, but our fully loaded DR650s arent as easy. Time to get our hands dirty. These are the moments you remember for a long time

In 2018 we set off from Australia on our Suzuki DR650 motorcycles riding overland to England. We hope to travel to remote areas riding dirt roads whilst camping and meeting local people along the adventure.

I'm feeling so much joy watching these videos. Tajikistan looks like such an amazing place to travel through and doing it via motorcycle has got to be hands down the best way to go about it. Once again, your tenacity and adventurous spirit carried you onwards, no matter the obstacles!
Yeah its Adventure Riding Heaven, i cant imagine a better place. Yeah we got there in the end and were quite proud of the road we made, hopefully it helped so fellow travellers or locals too

Cheers Jim, we did worry some of the songs were a bit too soppy but for us it just worked given how stunning the area was. Just a feel good place, kinda makes me sad/happy watching it back haha

That was indeed the best route. We took the same option in 2017 (on DR650) and had similar river challenges and detours. Still thinking about that day a lot! The best country for off-tarmac riding, without a doubt. Very cool to see this again in a well-edited version :). Thanks for that

Having done ridden the Great Divide in the US on mountain bike with a good buddy of my own, it always makes me think of the difficulties we had in our travels. We mostly struggled to get along with each other even though we were good friends. Would love to know how you guys handled so much time just the two of you?

thanks Robin, we watch it back and think the puddle looks pathetic but we know at the time it wasnt easy for us anyway. On a plus note we were proud of the "road" afterwards.

Thanks mate and glad you like the channel. I do think if we were to try over dramatize situations and exaggerate things like some do the channel could be 100 times larger but its just not us. We chose to do the trip and knew we would have issues so no point moaning about it. We hope it shows a real example of what its like to do a trip like ours all the good and bad sides of it.
Now this is the real motorcycle adventure, natural, raw and unplanned.

Great episode and totally understand moving at a snail's pace through that beautiful landscape. You just want to stop and take it all in also knowing you may never pass that way again. @@Northandleftabit We did have a 6 month trip planned through Russia, Kazakstan and Mongolia , time off work, visa paid for and agreed and bikes prepared, then 5 weeks before we had to stop because of Covid. Now we just have to negotiate time off again and travel to the Stans (But probably 3 months due to work commitments)
