3:09:06 In this part, it is said that "Light sees like the sheltered genius and L seems like the mad genius" It is funny cause it is the exact opposite.L is the sheltered genius(With all the resources he has..as well as the fact that he has been taken care to be a genius from childhood by Watari) and Light is the mad genius(Doing solo and is mad). Their appearances show the opposite.
A true and correct qualifier, though. Killing those deserving of death isn't murder; that's what capital punishment is, and the entire premise of Just War theory. If you can't kill someone justly under any circumstances, then Hitler II can conquer the world with a butter knife. The outstanding question is "where is the line between just and unjust killing?" We should at least be able to agree that there IS a line, if perhaps not on where it is.
@@isleschild its murder because one person may not be judge, jury, and executioner. for capital punishment, one must be found guilty in a trial by jury, hence why light is a murderer. if one's crime is not punishable by death then why should they be killed? light is a mass murdrer. through and through
@@isleschild There are alternatives to killing, though. Force and killing are not the same. Even if someone is so fanatical and ruthless that they cannot be reasoned or negotiated with, killing them is simply unnecessary because there are other means of force that stop short of death but would still work to stop them. In this way it could be argued that killing is always unjustified. Relating specifically to capital punishment, there's no point in executing someone if they're incapable of doing anything anyway. That's just vindictiveness. Assuming that these things can be justified starts with the incorrect premise that they must be done.

Actually since you probably would want to know, the ending was changed slightly in the anime compared to the manga, Light still dies by Ryuk but in a more sinister way, after getting shot Light doesnt escape the warehouse, he's bleeding out on the floor and Ryuk writes his name and shows it to him, then reality hits Light and he begins begging for mercy, which shows the irony, so many innocents and just people in general that didn't want to die yet he still killed them now he is the one begging to have his life spared
Huh. Usually i dont like it when adaptations deviate from the source material, but for this one... Yeah, the original ending seems so cliche and standard for a series that was cerebral and out of the box. Definitely prefer the anime more
@@Pyxyty Nah, it worked really well in the manga. It showed just how pathetic Light really was. Especially since, before Ryuk wrote his name, Light asked Ryuk to help him and write. Ryuk goes "Sure, I'll write."
@@mrmiffmiff no lol, its perfect that light died on the stairs to heaven representing that he doesnt go to heaven or hell. you're letting your bias take over lmfao
@@melonxvi Well, in the deathnote universe, heaven and hell don't actually exist. Ryuk tells Light that deathnote users can neither go to heaven nor hell to mess with him because humans generally believe those things exist. In actuality, Light figures out that Ryuk is just messing with him, but we don't figure that out until the last chapter of the manga: Light: "Can't go to heaven or hell..., that's told me everything Ryuk." Ryuk: "Huh? What?" Light: "It just means that there is no heaven or hell, right?" Ryuk: "..." "You really are something. I thought all humans seriously believed in heaven and hell, but... You're absolutely right. There is no heaven or hell. No matter what you do while you're alive, everybody goes to the same place once you die. Death is equal." With the last 2 deathnote rules revealed in that last chapter as well: - All humans will, without exception, eventually die. - After they die, the place they go is MU. (Nothingness) So in deathnote there is no objective good or evil. There is no heaven or hell. Morality is subjective, and light knew this from the start, but the viewer/reader doesn't necessarily.
yeah, but at the same time, i’ve definitely met people that just watch porn and sexy photos, without the jacking off, but i guess it’s not that common, i guess it’s not that different of having a big poster in your room wall of a naked lady, but i’d still use it for other purposes
I always thought it's weird. Imagine you buy some food, but instead of eating it you just look at it. That's strange af. A teen looking at this kind of food... nah... he would eat.
The reason it felt that mello was wasted is due to the fact that the episodes with near and mello are only from 26 to 37 while in the manga its more then half. Due to this many important parts with mello were cut
just finished watching the whole 13 hours video… and i can say that this is one of the best Death Note reactions ever! I love how you guys stopped every time you had doubts or you wanted to analyse the situations! In the beginning when L tested Light with the photographs, it wasn’t to piss him off. The way the pics were organized (by the numbers on the back) revealed an incomplete sentence. Any other person would automatically say that the message is incomplete or that it doesn’t make sense but Light stuck to his initial message because he himself had a prisoner wrote it so he knew what it was meant to say, never considered a 4th pic. That’s what made L even more suspicious.

When I first watched DeathNote, I kind of hoped that the thing that would get Light caught would be the apples. It's such an innocuous thing, but symbolically it represents sin. I'd hoped that near the finale, someone would go back to those first days when he mentioned apples and scout out apple purchasing and realize that Light has been buying more than the average person. It would have been very ironic for such a silly thing to help take him down. Especially if the same was true for Misa and Rem. If both "Kiras" have increased purchasing of apples, that would be such a blind spot. And from a metaphorical standpoint, getting taken down by the representation of temptation and sin is kinda perfect.
Realistically how would you know if someone is buying more apples unless you have been keeping an eye on their purchase history since day one. One thing that bothered me was Ryuk didn't need Light to provide apples he could just steal apples, i don't think he would have any problems with stealing.
I feel like everyone thinks they won't get tricked by Light because they can see everything. However, if you meet a good-looking, smart, and well-spoken person like Light, you're likely to get charmed quickly. It's really tough to tell if someone is good or bad and it's even harder when they're so charismatic. I think another thing many overlooked is most characters are really smart but but when you have individuals like Light and L, it's hard to outshine them.
4:42:29 The full quote is "Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, nor Hell a fury like a woman scorned" from William Congreve's 'The Mourning Bride' (1697). But popularised quote that derived from this one, is "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned". Shortened version delivers a bit more impact than the original.
When Mello and Near are first informed of L's death, Mello is 14 and nearing 15. These events take place 3 years later. Therefore, if Near is about the same age as Mello, Near is 17-18 years old. The same age as Light when the show began.
@@redharlow9750 in manga Matsuda made a theory afterwards thar Near controlled Mikami, he died so unexpectedly in warehouse because Near wrote his name in death note and controlled his actions making him make a mistake. I prefer to believe that
5:59:50 I love the fact that EVERYONE who see this show, got the SAME EXACT REACTION “””What?!””” It’s hilarious that we’re not alone for going crazy trying to solve this whole situation! 😂😂😂
Believe it or not, the FBI actually does have legat offices internationally and is allowed to operate in other countries, though usually only with the express permission of the relevant locales, so in the case of Death Note, it's entirely possible that L could ask them to work for him, as he was given operational authority by the japanese government. While the FBI does primarily work on US soil and the CIA primarily focuses on foreign nations, either one can and will operate in both. The primary difference is that the FBI is more of a federal investigative force (and LEOs, at least in the US) and the CIA is more about espionage.
Some of the only anime reactors I’ve seen immediately ask the REAL questions about Light’s methods. Like “How many innocent people are you killing if you’re killing any suspect that shows up on the news before their trial?” and “How many poor people who rob a store to feed their family are you killing?”
2:55:00 obviously he's just looking at the screen while he gets the chips then writes them he can also just look over into the bag whenever as there isn't anything suspicious about that, the only reason you think these moments wouldn't actually work is because you already have all the information in comparison to the characters
I am watching the show for the second time (along with you guys, currently on ep 31), and I think that the reason Near or anyone hasn't been able to profile Light on the basis of his higher intellect than other members of the Task Force, is that he never officially joined the Kira investigation. L asked Light to cooperate with the task force in secret (he asked Soichiro to keep it hidden from his wife and Sayu) when he was in college, and he has continued to operate like that since. Near was only able to profile him when he established a parent-child relationship between Kira and Soichiro.

Light did regret at the end. For me this show is so much relevant because it is a dissertation on how power can change people no matter how well intended, smart and promising they are. Thanks for the reaction.
I love that Wes would catch onto a lot of things or have a prediction to what would happen and then when his prediction comes true he gets flabbergasted. It happened throughout the entire reaction and man did I die laughing honestly🤣Great Reaction as always🥰genuinely love watching y'all since you react to Anime, Bts and the Sidemen which I all watch❤
We were shown at the end that if Light hadn't gotten this power, he would have been an ordinary person. We also saw that when he lost the memory of it, he was even a good person. Power corrupts...
Power doesn't corrupt, power reveals. Light was never a good person, he just hid it. He may have been societally a good person, but any amount of power, like a leadership position, would have slowly revealed his true personality
Finally finished it. One of my favorite reactions to Death Note, it was very entertaining. One small detail I've just realized: that little smirk Near does at the end? When you guys said it was an "L face"? Knowing what he reveals in the following and last episode, we can infer it was the moment Near saw Ryuk (the mask didn't have eye-holes). At least that's what I'm inferring. I really liked Near, he's the coolest teen/child I've ever seen in anime!

In the manga it is said that the reason why anyone who uses the Death Note cannot go to heaven or hell is because in reality they do not exist and any person who dies will simply cease to exist regardless of whether they use a Death Note or not. In the anime this is never said and there is even a theory that humans who use a Death Note can become a Shinigami.
In the bonus movie (Death Note R or something) Ryuk is talking to a Shinigami who asked about his time in the Human World. Just before Ryuk starts recounting Light’s death, the other shinigami leaves; Ryuk laughs saying that the other already knows how the story ends
I dont know wheather to be happy yt recommended this to me or not. On one hand I glad to have rewatched the show with you, with the awesome commentary. On the other hand my sleep schedule is now completly messed up. In the ending for me Light is regretful, but not for what he did, but regret for getting caught. Even tho he didnt die directly from his mistake, it was his doing that caught up to him. I belive that if he stayed true to his original motive (killing only people who commited crimes) he wouldve never been caught, if he didnt kill Lind L Taylor and the FBI agents there wouldnt have been much to go on. I wonder what happened to Lights mother and sister, feel bad for them.

You guys forgot that 2 shinigami died for misa, meaning he life expectancy is probably in the hundreds to thousands. Even when halved, it would still be way higher than a normal human.
1:30:00 Yeah I always wondered the same thing why Light couldn't just write for the bus jacker to act crazy or pretend to hallucinate instead of pull the whole Ryuk stunt. I think it's because of the scene before where Light experiments with the prisoners to test the capabilities of the death note. The last prisoner, which you guys questioned was weird, couldn't write that L was suspicious of the Japanese police and they explained that the death note couldn't make someone do something out of character of something they aren't capable of on their own. Very weird but I think this was only in there for it to make logical sense that Light couldn't write for the bus jacker to go crazy and hallucinate. It wouldn't have been 'in character' or something that the bus jacker was 'capable of'. I know this thought lacks consistency, but only thing I can think of at least. I can't remember anywhere else where this limitation comes up. Plus it introduces us to the idea that pieces can be torn from the death note and still used in a cool way anyway. Love your reaction!! edit - oh lol you mentioned it right after the scene nvm
Bro has good analytical and comprehensive skills. He broke down and gave really good perspectives. The girl is a hit 50/50 ,she seems to give more emotional feedback instead of logical breakdowns ,but great reaction, well enjoyed
This was just delightful! I've been wanting to rewatch this for a while now, but this was even better! Love the cycle of 'why would he...?!' and 'that was stupid...' ...and then when it happens or is explained, 'that was brilliant!' or 'that was so cool!' :DDD Shame the latter 40%ish fell flat as much as it did. Had it maintained the amazingness of the first half or so, it would've been a real masterpiece. Still kinda is for the early parts.
Second part is actually better in terms of plot as the scale of plot is bigger and lot more happens. But the first part revolves around two amazing characters and their dynamics and that's what Death Note is basically loved for i.e Light and L's cat and mouse chase . In second part Near and Mello are lacking as L's replacement and didn't develop any dynamic with Light
2:04:17 that's part of the genius portrayal of geniuses in Death Note. They seek the thrill of almost being discovered. A lot of serial killers only get caught precisely because of this reason. They get a little too bold one day.
I always liked the theory that the reason why L instinctively knows that Light is Kira is because he is a sociopath as well. A primal instinct that signals danger from one predator to another.
He has a good line in the movie about being a monster that always tells lies, and that being why he'd probably lose to such a monster himself. So ye I agree and think the series is also trying to convey this. L clearly does detective work really only for his own entertainment. Neither him nor Light genuinely care about what is truly just, their "justice" is really just what they say to satisfy their own ego.
7:20 interesting that the reporter announced right away that the guy died. AFAIK Japanese news aren't actually allowed to report deaths until they are officially confirmed, as was the case with the recent earthquake in Japan (instead they announce that the victims are found unresponsive). Wonder if it's just for the sake of the plot, or maybe the laws in Japan were different 20 years ago. Or I'm just wrong.
3:01:22 It doesn't matter if the pattern changed, even if drastically, because there's a strong alibi for light. The chances that it's a coincidence is a thousand times higher than it being kira's reaction to the surveillance. L has no choice but to reevaluate his initial suspicions.
5:17:08 Because if he kills him, he's doomed, no matter how he does it. That’s what L fed the gang working with him. L predicted his own death and set up a defense in advance. Light found a perfect, foolproof method to kill L without raising any suspicions, but L said fk that, if I die then it would automatically point to light being kira. That's how he broke his resolution. Intense mind games lol.
2:57:20 No they didn't. L only mentioned it as a possibility, briefly sharing his line of thinking with us and his gang. Light's method of killing criminals in front of cameras was flawless and perfect. He didn’t need to keep killing freshly announced criminals because just that first move shattered every assumption L had about kira until then. Light knows that L realizes this too. Unless, "Kira can kill by wishing, and every clue we had until now was to mislead us or, toy with us." Which is illogical in itself.
1:46:38 Raye Penber could literally guess that kira is light the next day, he heard his voice, witnessed the bus scene, and followed light for a few days before all that happened. Light had to kill him else he will be the one to die. Light is justified😊
@@otaviohoff The plan included making a risky move on penber to get to the unknown fbi agents for other reasons ultimately to get closer to L and take him out, thus it naturally included getting rid of penber. Even then, the thing with his fnaciée almost messed him up. Yee one can never be too vigilant when facing L.
2:06:30 Light's failure to consider Penber's fiance might deduce that kira could kill people in ways other than heart attacks proves that he relied on cold reading when he threatened Raye Penber from behind, mentioning that he should care about his loved ones. This implies that Light had no prior knowledge of Penber's relationships with a brilliant FBI agent until that moment. Hence his smirk that says "This idiot is ez to manipulate" Furthermore, his decision to kill penber without further investigation into his connections was simply a stupid mistake.
The thing about the TV in the chip bag makes perfect sense take your phone and a bag and prop the phone up in the bag muted with subtitles on. You can easily see into it if your desk is tall enough. its harder to believe that light is Ambidextrous and can write with both his right and left hands flawlessly. 2:55:00

9:40:15 You felt for it. The only time I saw Light's real emotions, I think, was during ep. 2, when he seemed A LITTLE BIT emotioned about talking to his dad about the fact he was the Student number 1 in all Japan... he was faking the previous emotion about his dad and Sayu-chan. He's a psychopath, his brain ISN'T CAPABLE of feeling emotions, rather than egotistical emotion.
I dont remember if this info is in the anime, but Ryuk tells Light (manga's ending) that theres no heaven or hell, all people go to "nothingness", being no different for the users of Death Note.
Steph was absolutely on it with some of these predictions. @1:58:30 The author of Death Note specifically requested that the illustrator made L look "unattractive" in order to contrast him to Light.
3:28:38 NOO. L is much more insidious than that. It’s so much more than just pissing Light off; Light’s answer was direct evidence that he is Kira. L tampered with the evidence so that the evidence falsely supported a 4th photograph. Someone who didn’t know the truth, would fall for the tampered evidence and deduce a 4th picture. Immediately seeing the true version of events and ignoring the blatant contradictions from the evidence is something that happens to people who already know the truth. Only Kira would know the truth, and so the idea is that only Kira would shrug off the evidence to get there. The possibility of a 4th photo would never occur to Kira, but it would occur to anyone else seeing the sentence was incomplete in that order.
1:43:19 To be fair, the rule is that 'using' the death note prevents one from going to heaven or hell. Touching it just lets you see the shinigami. So yes, Ray Penber is barred from heaven and hell.
4:56:00 Its not that convoluted. Rem litrally spelled it out, "Death Gods exist to shorten human lives." Extending a humans life in any way is essentially defying nature, fighting cosmic law, negating their puspose. If yo have no purpose you seize to exist. A death god doesnt HAVE to actually love a human to do this, theoretically speaking. But if they didnt, why would they ever do it? Its not so much a requirement as an inevitability. Hell, most humans would not do that for other humans they didnt love. Imagine doing it for your food. Would *_ANYONE_* anywhere sacrificee their life to save a chicken or a cod fish? Also, Rems love for Misa is not romantic love like ol'Jellys. Its more of surrogat mother. After Jealous vanished Rem took over his watch so that nothing happens to Misa and his sacrifice was in vain. Also, Misa is living Jellys life span, in a sense he livs on in her continued existence.
People always say: "Light didn't make mistakes he lost because of other people's mistake" or "Near didn't outsmart Light he just won because of Mello and Mikami's mistakes". But the thing is, it's 100% Near's merit the fact that Light HAD TO use other people. Light simply could not do it on his own, if he didn't use other people he would lose even sooner. The fact that Light was forced to use Mikami is totally Near and Mello's merit.
The contrast to Wes' Input on this vs AoT is so crazy. It's so much fun watching his theories and comments when they are not "staged" for the sake of saying something.
9:10 This is an example of how how ruthless Light is: His goal with writing the name was not to save anyone, it was to test to the notebook for his own curiousity. 10:55 He wrote the name multiple times, with different spellings. To make sure. 11:00 He wrote "accidental death". So of course the guy didn't die by heart attack. 13:35 They already said, it's been five days. 14:08 That's not what Light is saying. He's saying that he knew the Death Note couldn't have just appeared out of thin air, it had to have been made or owned by something else. And that something else, couldn't be human. It would have to be supernatural. He's saying, he knew that there was something out there that was responsible for the notebook. He says "A Shinigami, huh?" because he's learning that the thing he suspected to exist, actually has a name. 19:00 Correct. Light is looking for an excuse. But he did not have an "issue" with killing those people. What he felt was shock. Not regret. 40:12 Correct. Light very quickly uses "justice" as a blanket excuse so that he can avoid getting caught for doing something wrong. 56:05 Correct again. Signs that Light has no actual value for human life. 1:27:00 Yes, he could tell Raye wasn't Japanese. He just didn't make a big deal about it because it doesn't matter. Just because someone isn't Japanese doesn't mean they're an FBI agent. That's a big leap in logic. 1:35:55 Yeaaah....it's not just cuz you're American. Raye is a little belitting here. 1:48:29 It's a performance. Nothing more. 1:58:35 L always strikes me as Sherlock Holmes with bad hygiene. 2:55:05 Easy. When you reach in the bag, you reach in and angle the mini-tv up to you so you can see. It wouldn't look odd, because everyone instinctually looks inside of a potatoe chip bag when they are snacking on them. But that isn't visually interesting for a show made for entertainment, and the focus of the scene is him killing people via writing. So they focus on that instead. 3:23:16 Missing the point. It's not about evidence, but it matters all the world. Building a psych profile is not based around evidence. It's about personality types and reactions. Competition is a good way to profile a person's personality. 4:14:56 Um....why would L be acting? Literally, what reason would he have. 13:03:30 Stop pronouncing their names wrong. lol even Gevanni's name is not "Giovanni". 13:05:00 Why would anyone be watching him? He's been shot five times. There's no reason to watch him. And since he IS running instead of writing more names down, that's proof he has no more paper to use. Also no, he wasn't cuffed. Fun trivia: L was always intended to beat Light, but the editor and publishing company pressured the author to put another twist in the story to make it less predictable. They pressured him so much and so often, that he killed L in retaliation. After that, they did eventually leave him alone to write his story the way he wanted...but then, that meant he had to come up with Near, Mello, the SPK, Mikami, etc in order to get the plot back on track and end it the way he wanted. That's why, even though the post-L story is a little weak, the last two episodes are still gold: Because that was intended to be how L beats Light. That ending was already written in the author's mind. In the end, Light died in the middle of a staircase. Because he can't go up (Heaven) or down (Hell). He is forever stuck in purgatory.
He died in warehouse originally and Heaven\Hell does not exist in this world for anyone, everyone dies the same. You should read chapter 107 of original manga, it's just a few pages.
I only knew you guys for Sidemen reactions. I didn't know you did anime too. And not only that, one of the few I've seen reacting to this show subbed. The dub for Death Note actually isn't that bad compared to other anime but, apart from DBZ, the voice acting in Japanese is generally a lot better
9:35:45 Very good point. Many tell that's exactly what they did. Moreover, I don't know if you knew that, but, I think it's been confirmed officially, in the first version of the script, Mello and Near were supposed to be L's SONS, and not two other orphans... then they changed that, since L was like 26 when he died, and the two were 14, almost 15.
Seeing L's face at 8:10:31 makes me think that he already figured out Light is kira. Light got away because they didn't know the method of killing being just writing down a name. So, now he knows the killings when they had his room full of cameras a Light was just 'doing homework' was him killing criminals. But we all know L likes Light too much to out him, so he wants to keep playing with his first friend. It's a truly tragic story
not really tbh, u have to remember that light killed criminals who were just published on the news and L still had no idea that light had a mini tv that he was watching while they were monitoring him. L was offcourse highly suspicious and knew light was kira but he wasn't smart enough to compile enough evidence to accuse him and put him in a cell before he died he did later on offcourse had enough preparation to catch light but if it weren't for Mr DELETE at the end making a mistake.
L never liked Light. The writer confirmed that L was lying when he called Light his only friend, and that he most likely though very bad things about him.
Mello suspected the possibility that Takada was doing the killings and forced her into a scenario where she can be found with the death note. Showing his face was necessary to get her to write the evidence.
8:28:18 [EXPLAINING THE SCENE] The exchange of notebooks (two explanations, the simple one comes at the end) Specific explanation: Misa´s notebook 1- Misa had given her DN to Light when she met him, so by renouncing her in seclusion, Light became the owner of 2 notebooks. *In the woods* 2- Light gave up Rem's notebook and returned it to her. 3- Rem gave the notebook to Ryuk, meaning he was now the owner. 4- Ryuk threw away Misa's notebook so that she would be part of the human world again. 5- Light picked it up and regained possession of the notebook but with Ryuk following him instead of Rem. So that? 1-The notebook that had first been Misa's was now Light's with Ryuk as shinigami. 2- This notebook was buried. 3-Light continued to own the property until he renounced it in seclusion. 4- When Misa dug it up, she became the owner with Ryuk following her. Light Notebook: Light gave up his notebook and returned it to Ryuk. Ryuk gave it to Rem, that is, Light's DN now had Rem as a shinigami. Rem gave it to Higuchi So that? Higuchi was caught and when he died, since Light had the notebook, he became the owner. Rem, being with the investigation team, was able to lie in the investigation and when she found out what they were planning, she sacrificed herself by killing L and W. What was Light's plan? That Misa would kill L once she was clear of suspicion. However, he had a plan B and a plan C. If Misa didn't remember L's name, she could ask Ryuk for the shinigami eyes, which Rem wouldn't do a second time. If things still got complicated, Rem could kill L to help Light and Misa, which Ryuk wouldn't do. In summary: LIGHT ONLY CHANGED SHINIGAMI FOR EACH NOTEBOOK SO THAT REM WAS WITH THE INVESTIGATION TEAM AND KILLED L AND RYUK GAVE THE SHINIGAMI EYES TO MISA
at 6:50:00 -6:59:00 around, Misa invites a bunch of girls to entertain Yotsuba's, it is actually an occupation from the red light district. They are not prostitute, but it is a job to entertain males/females (there is one for men but it is a very rare host/hostess), but they are not doing sexual stuff. And there is a strict regulation of what you can do or what you cannot do. I got 2 friends who were doing it before graduating from college. With that, they paid off student loans with ease. And it is quite a popular occupation for early 20s females ( My friend told me 5 of her HS classmates are doing it, and her class has 40 people in it ). But for men host, it is way stricter than the hostess. Japan has a lot of weird occupations that you probably never think of.
from what i remember the original ending was going to be something like L write his name in the note and when light tries to kill him L wont die because he already going to die so L will capter kira but he die and light would die because ryuke cant wait so long for light to just die in prisone so basically the ending would be to both of them die with L stoping kira but shonen jump didnt want the manga to stop that early so they forced the writers to make the story longer so they had to just continue without L , the writers made a new manga that talkes about two people have a dream of making a manga ( refering to themself) its a great show if you would like to watch named bakuman , and they reveled what happened to them in that manga that those two was forced to continue a manga because it was popular but in this story their refused and made a perfect ending not like the real life where they where forced to make the story longer

Light: If someone actually dies, does that make me a murderer?
Steph: If they don't deserve it...
Light would be very pleased with your take 😂
A true and correct qualifier, though.

In actuality, Light figures out that Ryuk is just messing with him, but we don't figure that out until the last chapter of the manga:
Light: "Can't go to heaven or hell..., that's told me everything Ryuk."
Ryuk: "Huh? What?"
Light: "It just means that there is no heaven or hell, right?"
Ryuk: "..."
"You really are something.
I thought all humans seriously believed in heaven and hell, but...
You're absolutely right.
There is no heaven or hell. No matter what you do while you're alive, everybody goes to the same place once you die.
Death is equal."
With the last 2 deathnote rules revealed in that last chapter as well:
- All humans will, without exception, eventually die.
- After they die, the place they go is MU. (Nothingness)
So in deathnote there is no objective good or evil. There is no heaven or hell. Morality is subjective, and light knew this from the start, but the viewer/reader doesn't necessarily.
@@TijmenZwaan I thought those that use the Death Note are cursed to be shinigami and then they only go to nothingness after they die as shinigami.

Yeah Mello arc is the weakest of the anime.

It's never brought up in the anime, but L's real name is:
L. Lawliet.
the volume he died in came with a black card that inside had his name.

Oooo I like this
Realistically how would you know if someone is buying more apples unless you have been keeping an eye on their purchase history since day one.
One thing that bothered me was Ryuk didn't need Light to provide apples he could just steal apples, i don't think he would have any problems with stealing.
You can see why L and Light dynamic is so loved

It’s hilarious that we’re not alone for going crazy trying to solve this whole situation!
These supercuts, I really like this 😂🎉
Fun fact: according to a reading guide, if L throws out a number, he's at least 90% sure. The number is in % of those last 10%
I see the rule "can't go to heaven or hell" as a way to say they can't be judged for the killings, no matter if you are doing the good or the bad.

Light did regret at the end. For me this show is so much relevant because it is a dissertation on how power can change people no matter how well intended, smart and promising they are. Thanks for the reaction.

One small detail I've just realized: that little smirk Near does at the end? When you guys said it was an "L face"?
It is actually said in the anime, final chapter

1:33:47 it's because during the hijack he revealed to his gf that his father works for the police and made sure that raye penber heard it too.

Shame the latter 40%ish fell flat as much as it did.
Second part was shortened a lot compared to the manga.

Ive been watching this for months now and I just made it to ep 21 😂
I wonder if you guys ever found out Rem was female

Thank you. That was a nice weekend to re-watch one of my first anime's with you.
Thank yall so much for these Supercuts!🫶

This implies that Light had no prior knowledge of Penber's relationships with a brilliant FBI agent until that moment. Hence his smirk that says "This idiot is ez to manipulate" Furthermore, his decision to kill penber without further investigation into his connections was simply a stupid mistake.

@@wesandsteph2822.‼️Terrible reaction‼️ they spend more time talking about any nonsense or making fun of the series to which they are supposedly "reacting" 😒 even by the standards of a reaction they go too far and the worst thing is that they are not comments that contribute something to the reaction, to the On the contrary, it only hinders her and because of that, many times they don't know the reason for various things that happen in the series.
5:30:00 ish damn, wes's guess as to what light is gonna do after misa gave up her death note was scarily close
Bro it was actually crazy lmao
9:40:15 You felt for it. The only time I saw Light's real emotions, I think, was during ep. 2, when he seemed A LITTLE BIT emotioned about talking to his dad about the fact he was the Student number 1 in all Japan... he was faking the previous emotion about his dad and Sayu-chan. He's a psychopath, his brain ISN'T CAPABLE of feeling emotions, rather than egotistical emotion.
Can't believe the Among Us mentions lasted 'til the last episode 😂
Oh wow, I didn't realized this was 13h long until I was an hour in, and now I'm even more excited to continue!
😂😂
Imma lose it if they put up a 20 hour FMAB supercut
Lol but we probably will though 😂😂
@@wesandsteph2822I WILL WATCH IT THO ❤
this is excellent, great reactions and commentary, very enjoyable.
Thank you!!
I dont remember if this info is in the anime, but Ryuk tells Light (manga's ending) that theres no heaven or hell, all people go to "nothingness", being no different for the users of Death Note.
Incorrect
@@branchy1097 Ryuk literally says it, cry more
Steph was absolutely on it with some of these predictions.
@1:58:30
The author of Death Note specifically requested that the illustrator made L look "unattractive" in order to contrast him to Light.
4:56:00
Its not that convoluted.
Rem litrally spelled it out, "Death Gods exist to shorten human lives."
Extending a humans life in any way is essentially defying nature, fighting cosmic law, negating their puspose.
I really really really like this supercuts, thats the rest of my month figured out on what to watch ✨
You have a rather arrogant and misplaced attitude. You should work on that.
You're rather rude damn
How could you watch until hour 8th, when the video uploaded 1 hour ago?
not really tbh, u have to remember that light killed criminals who were just published on the news and L still had no idea that light had a mini tv that he was watching while they were monitoring him. L was offcourse highly suspicious and knew light was kira but he wasn't smart enough to compile enough evidence to accuse him and put him in a cell before he died
he did later on offcourse had enough preparation to catch light but if it weren't for Mr DELETE at the end making a mistake.
L never liked Light. The writer confirmed that L was lying when he called Light his only friend, and that he most likely though very bad things about him.
2:24:40 When a rational fan trying to explain to an emotional fan why their favorite character might not be as good natured as they seem😂
Mello suspected the possibility that Takada was doing the killings and forced her into a scenario where she can be found with the death note. Showing his face was necessary to get her to write the evidence.

[EXPLAINING THE SCENE] The exchange of notebooks (two explanations, the simple one comes at the end)
Specific explanation:
Misa´s notebook
1- Misa had given her DN to Light when she met him, so by renouncing her in seclusion, Light became the owner of 2 notebooks.
*In the woods*
2- Light gave up Rem's notebook and returned it to her.
Light Notebook:
Light gave up his notebook and returned it to Ryuk.
Ryuk gave it to Rem, that is, Light's DN now had Rem as a shinigami.
Rem gave it to Higuchi
So that?
13 hours?!?! Don’t mind if i do!!!! 😋🍴
