I think it was the right call making the first missing rings of this season be about Chase Elliott. He was a more deserving champion than logano in my opinion. But I feel like you're going to have to do another one about Denny Hamlin for 2022. Even though he was just as inconsistent, if not more so, as anyone else in the field having that win taken away costing the points he would have needed to advance from Martinsville to Phoenix. Finishing second three times in a row in the opening round and not getting a single win there also cost him the points he would have needed. He was close to being hail melon proof at the end of martinsville. Or even looking at how his pit crew cost him spots on the final three pit stops of the Martinsville race. If the pit crew performs at the end of Martinsville the way they had at the beginning and middle portions of the race, Hamlin likely wins and Chastain doesn't even need to perform the hail melon in order to get to Phoenix. There are plenty of big stories this year, perhaps Kurt Busch deserves a spotlight for this season given his performance and the reason for his missing the playoffs, but unfortunately Hamlin deserves another missing rings special for this season, at some point.

Plus winning the championship isn't prestigious as it once was. Just a bonus.
I'd say the strategy call by Gustafson worked. They needed less fuel on the stage caution pit stop and made it up to second of the playoff guys. He passed Joey on the restart so he was leading the championship when he spun out.
@@JerBuster77 no it's because he was like the 4th best guy in 2020. It's ironic really, he was the 4th best guy in 2020 and won the championship, and this year he should've won the championship this year and finished 4th.
I never seen a driver fumble this hard, from peaking in the summer and easily the best driver at that time to a mediocre playoff run and a costly mistake at the finale. As much as I love the traditional points format, Chase choked this one away.
I just knew he wasn't going to win after DNFing in the first race of the playoffs. No driver has ever won the championship after falling out of the first race.
I have a feeling the iceberg would post this after chase got spun by Ross in stage 3. As a fan of his he still young he going win another soon hes only like 29 years old if I'm not mistaken but hey good season as a whole congrats to Joey logano for the championship
The call by his crew chief got him in front of Joey Lagano before Chastain wrecked him. It was a gutsy call that really worked, other than putting him in Chastain's line of fire.
His playoff inconsistency doesn't matter once he got into Phoenix IMO. Sure momentum helps a little but not a huge difference. Their strategy call worked to gain spots as well as get an extra pit stop for adjustments. He didn't finish the stage as high as he was before putting but he gained more spots from the stage break pit stop because he didn't have to wait on fuel like the others. At the time of that restart his car was the best it had been all day and he was right next to Joey. It very easily could've been chase winning the championship instead of Joey if chase didn't spin.
I knew this video would happen lol. Joey had everything go right at Phoenix. If Chase hadn't wrecked, he would have been challenging Joey in the closing laps.
I swear if there was a luck spectrum, Chase would be on one end and Joey on the other. That just seems how it goes for the two. Joey seems to catch the breaks and Chase always seems like he is in an uphill battle against stupidity. I figured it would eventually even out, but it just doesn't seem too.
These championships aren’t like the ones Petty and Earnhardt used to win. NASCAR doesn’t need anyone gimmicks, we don’t need manufactured game 7 moments for stick and ball people to get it.
The playoffs have to go. The best driver in a full season points system where every track is weighted the same should win the championship. I’m a chase fan and I don’t see his 2020 title legitimate, but at least this year proved he can lead a full season points system.
Nascar needs stars again, characters who are memorable. Yeah it's a sport but it's also entertainment. Seems like the current system and cars are keeping stars from shining.
Elliott should've finished 4th in points in 2020, but won the title via playoffs 2022, Elliott should've won the title, but under the playoffs with his championship bidding mistake, he's 4th. Coincidence?
Something was not right in the playoffs with that car I just don’t know what it was but something was off. Personally I think that all joe gibbs team drivers had something to do with it but that’s just me because they all seem to hate him and almost every time he crashes it’s by one of them. Also, good job for Joey because he’s my second favorite driver and only other driver than chase I can stand.
Honestly, it just seemed to me like they figured something out with the new car in the early part of the season, but by the playoffs, everybody else had figured it out too and he came crashing down to earth. Tension with Larson also probably affected the information exchange between the HMS teams as the season progressed, also hurting his playoff efforts.
I'm certainly a Chase fan but he's got to grow a pair and prove to the world he has . After the incident that ended his championship hopes the "watermelon head" should have never finished that race. 🏁🏁🏁🏁
Strongly disagree that the strategy call didn't work. Came in 9th, got back up to 12th before the stage end and the shorter pit stop because they still had fuel, moved him up to 6th, best of the championship 4. Plus an additional adjustment on the field which they desperately needed

Next you need to do
Missing Rings Denny Hamlin 2021 and Missing Rings Ross Chastain 2022.
NASCAR not being biased moment
I'd say the strategy call by Gustafson worked. They needed less fuel on the stage caution pit stop and made it up to second of the playoff guys. He passed Joey on the restart so he was leading the championship when he spun out.
You need to do this for bell Sadly I’m a bell fan but he could of won it if he didn’t have that bad pit stop at the end
Bro barely waited a day😂
Bro did everything he could to shoot himself in the foot in the playoffs, culminating in turning himself across his rival's nose on a restart.
This video came out impossibly fast
His 2020 non-legit championship and his 2022 non-playoff championship: now we’re even
How was it non-legit?
@@johnstickles6789 Because he doesnt like Chase.
@@JerBuster77 LMAO........these Elliott haters crack me up. Harvick had the better year but NADCAR has this bs chase format soooo.
*2020 Kevin Harvick
Had 9 wins and failed to reach the Championship 4
I just knew he wasn't going to win after DNFing in the first race of the playoffs. No driver has ever won the championship after falling out of the first race.
So long as he remains on the case, Chase will win the race.
Man, it was so funny when golden boy took himself out at Phoenix. There is a God, and he finally listened.
I will forever think of Jeff Gordon’s 2007 season when I see these videos
2013 Sam Hornish Jr.
I have a feeling the iceberg would post this after chase got spun by Ross in stage 3. As a fan of his he still young he going win another soon hes only like 29 years old if I'm not mistaken but hey good season as a whole congrats to Joey logano for the championship
He’ll be 26
He's in his mid 20s
Hes 26 Right now turning 27 At the end of the month
@@RoxChaseDi9 He's 2.5 years younger than me
@@ianperry9598 gotcha thanks again
The Texas crash ruined Chase Elliott championship because it was his primary car that was so dominant all season long.
The call by his crew chief got him in front of Joey Lagano before Chastain wrecked him. It was a gutsy call that really worked, other than putting him in Chastain's line of fire.
Elliott spun himself. There was no line of fire
Will Chase Elliott bounce back in 2023 to win the championship?...Chase Elliott will differently be in my championship 4 in 2023.
Well that was quick
Please do Missing Rings: Ross Chastain 2022
Playoff system has to go we need a champion that's good all year not just last race
Chase Elliot would've won the championship under a traditional points format.
At 3:47 if you pause look at the three signs the white dot next to the yellow sign on the left is me lmao
Chase will rebound next season. He's still young so he's definitely going to win another championship or even more championships down the road.
The strategy call did work he pitted at 12th and came out 6th
The playoffs have to go. The best driver in a full season points system where every track is weighted the same should win the championship. I’m a chase fan and I don’t see his 2020 title legitimate, but at least this year proved he can lead a full season points system.
@@johnhaas2523 yep. Nascar is too entertainment driven. Not focused on a fair and just points system. It’s a shame
Chase will be back next year, he's young & I expect to see him a lot more running for championships 🏆🏁💕
Virginia Slims?
Can we get the same video for Blaney?
Nascar needs stars again, characters who are memorable. Yeah it's a sport but it's also entertainment. Seems like the current system and cars are keeping stars from shining.
I’m expecting Bad Season:Martin Truex Jr 2022 or Brad Keslowski 2022 to be made soon
The big three of 2018: "First time?"
If he didn’t throw that block I think he woulda won. That move cost Chase the title.
As a chase fan this season hurt
His playoffs was actually pretty good outside of Las Vegas. He probably had the car to beat in half of the races
Man this hurts
Elliott should've finished 4th in points in 2020, but won the title via playoffs
2022, Elliott should've won the title, but under the playoffs with his championship bidding mistake, he's 4th.
Coincidence?
"I think NOT!!!"
Elliott had the most points technically?
Scored more total points yes. RacingReference shows the overall points scored in a season and he had scored the most.
@@TheIceberg So that would've given him the title...
I'm certainly a Chase fan but he's got to grow a pair and prove to the world he has . After the incident that ended his championship hopes the "watermelon head" should have never finished that race. 🏁🏁🏁🏁
Grow a pair by doing? Pfft
@@runrafarunthebestintheworld how many times has Chase been taken out by being bumped or clipped, he needs to be returning the favor 🏁
it doesn't really sting that bad when he got Harvick's missing ring from 2020
Bad Seasons: Chase Elliott 2023
Strongly disagree that the strategy call didn't work. Came in 9th, got back up to 12th before the stage end and the shorter pit stop because they still had fuel, moved him up to 6th, best of the championship 4. Plus an additional adjustment on the field which they desperately needed
