2:07 Hey Tasty and Behemeth co, thanks for featuring my clip! I finally found someone who was able to explain to me why the melee mob was able to move under the mager in that Inferno clip.
According to how collision works in OSRS for NPCs, if an NPC at any point walks under any tiles of another NPC, those tiles are essentially broken until the mob moves again. The melee had previously dug under the mager earlier in the wave, but the mager didn't ever end up moving from that spot. Therefore, the tiles the melee had "broken" never actually got fixed, allowing the melee to walk through the tiles again later in the wave.
At least, this is how it was explained to me, and seemed to make the most sense out of all the other theories I'd heard from people.
It's like at barbarian assault as a defender if you have a bunch of runners stacked at the trap waiting for a multi kill and a team mate runs through the tile you're standing on it phases you and ruins the stack, you have to move off the tile and go back otherwise mobs can just walk through you
This is how for example stacking dust devils for barraging works. You click between 2 tiles to run under dust devils breaking their tile so bunch of dust devils can stack on to the same tile.
That's generally the concept, but it's NPC on NPC tile stacking that causes it. When the player is running between the two tiles to stack, their character model is never actually on the tile that the NPCs are stacking on, only the NPCs being pulled in are.@@jou561
That makes sense! So it sounds like it's a unique interaction between friendly units in the game that breaks the tile.@@TheDechico

2:25 this happens with a lot of npcs, its why you can barrage tasks, and why people dance to stack npcs up to barrage because when you walk on a tile it breaks them as a "solid"
Yeah but he did not stand under or even next to the mager, so this mechanic should not apply. I have been in the Inferno at least like 60-70 times and got like 5 capes to my name on different accounts/gamemodes, and I have never seen this happen. This is straight up weird.

I saw this happen to a friend yesterday in Leagues. He ran past a bat then a meleer walked right thru it. Pretty sure he didn't walk under the bat at any time and definitely never under the meleer. I understand barrage stacking can cause this, but I don't rememeber it happening at any point in my ~25 inferno runs.

I don’t know about you guys, but just like RuneScape I would put unnatural hours into a game like this. I love the RS world and to see it fleshed out and scaled up in a game like that would be amazing

Whenever the mager revives things a lot of fuckery happens. In the case that the player did NOT step under the mager at any point, I think the melee may have been figuring out it’s path finding as the mager was respawning the blob

Runescape 4 if it is a survival game should have first and foremost chill music and more importantly for a survival game it should have a legacy you can keep coming back to. It should be a survival game you want to relax in not stress yourself out like crazy like ark or rust & their contstant state of paranoia and death at every turn. Make it like minecraft but osrs..

Depends on how they go about it. If it's still needing a major grind for skills, no thanks. However, I'm still interested in it, and could see them importing current stats of OSRS or RS3 to it. Have a feeling it'll be like Rust though but more medieval, and with blueprints for weapons like the Tbow

Yeah this looks very much like a bug, because he did not walk through at all, you can even see his true tile. He stood next to it for one tick, but it took 2 more ticks for the melee guy to even reach him

I think Jagex does an amazing job with OS, but after 18 years of playing I refuse to get my hopes up with other games Jagex announces. 90% of them have been cancelled, or are DOA. It's a shame.
