    McFarlane is gonna have to step up with a few things and keep strong with this train before it hits the wrong station.

    You can pick any manufacturer who produces a line of figures and always find a bad wave. I've seen bad waves in both Marvel Lends and The Black Series. So McFarlane Toys is bound to have a few too. If a wave is a letdown, I don't buy it, plain and simple. I'm also patient though. McFarlane's done amazing work before and they will again. A bad wave doesn't sour me on an entire line.

    This wave would’ve been a must if it wasn’t so damn expensive. That Superman looks stellar

    Seems like Jada, Hasbro, Mattel, Mafex, Mezco, etc came out swinging in 2024. McFarlane has some catching up to do. Hopefully they can right the ship.

    For me, this is the wave that broke the camels back. I’ve been trying to build a JSA. The Spectre selling out at the $40 price tag took all the fun out of it. The Alan Scott ring on the wrong finger was just frustrating but to I could over look it. However, I feel like Mcfarlane is just not putting the love in like he used to. I’m out. I’m selling a lot of my Multiverse figures and heading for greener pastures

    You make some good points, Josh. I am more optimistic than you about the future of McFarlane's DC Multiverse though. Todd's movie figures are spectacular and I'm really liking the variety of characters he's giving us. I am looking forward to the DC Collector's line giving us more bang for our buck and the digital waves giving us more classic characters. As long as big problems like Superman's unpainted belt and Kid Flash's hands are worked out, I think this line still has a bright future, whether online or in stores. I think the fact that Todd acknowledges there have been some issues and disappointments with the figures is a huge plus and a very good sign. I personally think this wave looks so good displayed on the shelf together.

    Here's something that perked my ears up and had me thinking. 2 months ago i listened to an interview with Todd either on Westcoast Davengers podcast or that dude Jace. And todd was asked about how hands on he was with the Spawn and DC Multiverse line and he said to paraphrase , that he was hands on and not until the second year did he hire people he trusted to oversee and and sign off to go to production. Now check this out. I got thinking go look at the crotch pieces on the figures they went from hard plastic to rubber. You can tell the person(s) involved in overseeing the lines are all about cutting costs and its quantity over quality. Please Josh check it out for yourself. Do a quality comparison video. Yeah wrist and ankle pegs are better but just look.
    Sorry for the long winded rant

    Im pretty sure that Mcfarlane toys will turn things around, they have to if they want their loyal collectors to stick around and keep buying.
    I think they have gotten to a point where they think they can put out whatever they want, and people will just buy it and not complain.
    They need to fix up and get back on track.
    We dont want them to fail, we just want great figs, and figs we actually want and have been waiting years for.
    But for a long time now its been hit and miss.
    QC issues, odd design choices, and too many repaints and variants.
    They've given us some truly awesome figs over the years, but the quality is not consistent.

    A thing I find odd and interesting for *every* figure line and manufacturer, is how some character designs work well as realized by the engineering a particular company uses, and others just don't. Each action figure manufacturer has different patents for the types of joints their figures utilize, for instance. So, the wrist ball joints might look fine for like an anime or gloved fantasy figure, but be glaringly obvious on, say, a Superman.
    Sorry for the somewhat tangential comment, or if I've left a similar one elsewhere. Cool that your Monitor BAF got sorted out.

      I agree, I really love the uncommon body types in the monster figures like Clayface and Man Bat

      Thanks for getting the gist of my babbling😂😂
      Yeah, I have the Witcher ice giant, really unique buck, and the McFarlane engineering works well with it -- a "form equals function" synergy.

    Towards the end of last year I was honestly almost out the door with collecting DC Multiverse and started collecting a bunch of NECA and Mezco figs. But after a couple of months, its brought me back into the fold. Hopefully it'll be the same for you

  • @LordLuigi23
    @LordLuigi23 3 місяці тому +3

    DC has always been my No 1 but man this line is so up and down and for me more downs then ups. The lack of consistency and innovation for me is just not there. Could you imagine Jada Toys with the rights to DC and what they would be doing or heck even seeing improvements that Mattel WWE figures have made in the past 1-2 years puts Mcfarlane to shame. They need a bit of an overhaul and they need it quickly.

    I've pretty much stepped away from collecting Mcfarlane at all. just got to be too much and not much that I really care about. I'm at the point that I'm slowly starting to sell off my collection and I was in for most everything that first few years

    I respect your opinion but mostly disagree. McF has his misses like any brand, but the 'sky is falling' mantra still coming from this specific COIE wave I believe is unwarranted. A few gripes aside it's still a fantastic wave of characters and the price point has since been proven to not be the norm going forward as we've gotten new BAF waves since. 🧡

    • @JoshFromBefore
      @JoshFromBefore  3 місяці тому +5

      I said I don’t think the sky is falling in both videos. Not the end of the world but they need to have their hand smacked for a string of blunders and predatory practices

    • @OfThaStars
      @OfThaStars 3 місяці тому +1

      @@JoshFromBefore Predatory practices is quite a stretch, isn't it? You literally see every angle of product and price before you buy. What possibly could be predatory? And this is the mentality that I mean by using the single quotation (') to note a paraphrase, which is not a direct quote ("), just to clarify.

    • @JoshFromBefore
      @JoshFromBefore  3 місяці тому +3

      @@OfThaStars They just revealed an entire wave of repaints that you have to buy to build Plastic Man. Predatory. Call a spade a spade

    • @OfThaStars
      @OfThaStars 3 місяці тому +1

      @@JoshFromBefore I disagree that your example is at all predatory and is actually standard industry practice across 99% of brands. Reuse is expected and BAFs have always locked wanted characters behind buying entire waves. I disagree that any of this is predatory but understand the frustration. I'd like to just buy Plastic Man and skip the entire wave, but that's how you get him and this has been happening for decades with BAFs. I'd argue that this new wave has one of the best values as how often do you get 2 heads and sets of arms with a BAF?

    What “normies” would walk down a toy isle and see his stuff and say oh yeah that looks cooler then all the other toys let me from 25-40$ on a shit reuse. Idk dude. At this point the collectors are keeping them alive I feel. No one buys these from target or Walmart I see them peg warming for eternity. He can’t even make boxes that are eye catching ffs. Zero kids will want this.
