Thats a great take on this figure Jason. Love the 0 points for pricing 😆but you are 100%correct. I bought the entire wave and $40 for a figure with so many issues a is a RIPOFF.
I do surprisingly have 4 McFarlane Toys Superman figures and this particular Superman from Crisis on Infinite Earth's may look old but I like him as a good but old badass Kal El especially that head sculpt more than the older dark gritty Kingdom Come Superman, I may not have him but Great review on him Jason.
I’m glad I canceled my preorder on this. The body sculpt is really nice but forty five dollars for a figure with a belt that isn’t even painted all the way around is ridiculous. I’m sure they’ll use this body again and hopefully next time they actually paint it.
Wait I don't really read many newer comics but why is there two Supermen of earth 2? this one is the one I'm familiar with but the page punchers one is the one that confuses me.
@@Rotero769 in a funny way though I'd like to play superman someday in figure version which I'll eventually do by the way I mean that's the one superman I'd buy too
I think you absolutely nailed it. Are we really at the point with mass market retail lines where painting the back of a best is going to break the budget? I have the full wave coming, but I think this one will be hitting eBay. As you suggested, I’ll wait for a better version on this body.
Revisiting a video I've watched several times.... Ya know... If i could - 1) change the S shield to it's traditional look 2) get an upscaled version of the "classic" smiling head sculpt 3) swap the cape for the Chris Reeve cape.... I'd have my perfect Superman figure.
Great review! They did a much better job painting the belt on your figure than they did with mine. I might put the Earth - 2 Superman head on the Return of Superman figure. Might need a longer neck peg.
@@5POAFigureReviews I am excited to mess with the new buck for myself and the cape does seems great. I guess I’m still just a little salty about the price and the lack of paint on the back. Also I wish the head sculpt was better
It looks like I need to be a little more patient for a decent Superman 🤞. Quick question for you Jason and chat. Are they going to be re-releasing a Barry Allen Flash??
I head swapped mine with the first appearance as my go-to. The Hush trunks fit well but they're comparatively a little stiff. Hopefully the future figures with this buck will have the kinks worked out.
I was curious about this one the most. I know the wired cape was a selling point but I agree that maybe this should've been the buck for a classic Supes. $40 is a ripoff for what you get though, especially if you have no plans on completing the set. That said, I think this was meant to be a Target exclusive wave first, but they said no.
Really enjoyed the video, was looking forward to your review. Do you think the atomic skull 2 pack Superman head would better match the skin tone on this figure?
Also could you do an arm swap with the Tim Drake gold label and rebirth Batman I seen it on the web and was wondering if it would work without any modifications on the ball joint
I really do hope this body mold is used for Superman figures going forward. Definitely refreshing from the Infected buck fatigue and it scales pretty well with other JL members.
I hope that after reviewing this insipid figure you enjoy and rejoice with tdk catwoman. I just got her and oh boy you are gonna love her!!!! Cantv2ait for your next review!!!
Earth-2 Superman is one of my favorite characters so I had to. That said, while I'll be on the longterm hunt for a new head, I may be giving him a trunks swap fresh out of packaging. Painting the back doesn't fix the tiny belt loops. I'm thinking I need to track down another Hush Superman. I hope you address this wave's issue with unadvertised Platinum variants. Paying $40 for these is unreasonable. But paying $40 for something when they might substitute an item is infuriating.
I was looking forward to Warworld at 7:53, only to find his head was too small. Sigh... Really hope his reuse sometime down the line (that's not Christopher Reeve related) would be the definitive Superman. Fingers crossed.
I think the price is kinda ok, cos if you buy a wired soft goods cape somewhere then you have to fit it yourself, risks involved etc then it's worth it. I used to like buying soft goods and new heads for legends and others..but.. £25 for the figure. £25 each for a new head and cape. £75 so not good for what is basically a figure to have fun with.😬
@@5POAFigureReviews don't get me wrong, I don't enjoy a price hike. But that £70-80 price I'd sometimes pay, though it can be worth it, got to remember they're things to have fun with (for me). So I'd rather spend that kinda cash on other things.🙂👍
I'd just found myself searching for more information on this guy last night, hoping you'd cover him - lo and behold! I think this is their best Superman buck yet, for my liking at least, but that price is too steep for me considering the baffling unpainted belt, among other odds and ends. Instead I'll hope for a sale, or the surely inevitable (Reeves?) reuse.
I noticed how the trunks and belt of Brandon Routh's Superman from the 7 inch scale Page Punchers Superman figure match, This Crisis on Infinite Earth's Superman suit, S symbol and trunks give me George Reeves Superman vibes because the symbol matches Reeves suit so McFarlane can try to do a 1950s in color and maybe a non painted George Reeves Superman figure wirh a George Reeves head sculpt but I guess the rights to Reeves is difficult to use on.
I have a terrible feeling it wasn't. Looking at the promo pic of the new Pabe Puncher Val Zod Superman and it looks like they did the same thing with him.
I already have almost 50 McFarlane figures and so far I haven't bought a single Superman. In fact, practically every one of them, apart from the one thousand, looks strange, and either they don't have the classic blue shade of the costume or they have really strange torso proportions and a very stylized head. I really hope they release this one with a different paint job and head as a more classic superman. ;/
The PROPORTIONS are excellent!! If only McFarlane always did proportions this good. Absolutely love the lack of muscle definition combined with the sculpted creases in trunks etc. Just looks so much more real and appealing. Cape is exceptional! Esp how well it's attached and the fabric used. Painting could have been much better and would love to see this guy with the same sized, but better head sculpt.
Great question! I guess with so much of the budget going to new sculpting for Supes, Spectre, and Monitor, they figured they needed to cut corners somewhere. Really disappointing. Especially for the price.
Ugh! Some of these head swaps are silly. XD Most of them are way too small for this body. What I actually wanted to see was if the trunks on Earth 2 Supes would work better on the Classic figure, but that sloppy paint really made me not care as does the fact that the belt isn't painted all the way around. THAT is some bullsh*t! $40 for a Superman, with a cloth cape and you didn't paint the belt all the way around?
The true Crisis is this figure. Looks incredibly cheap ..the wired cape doesn’t matter if the S symbol isn’t painted well & the belt is only half complete. The huge pins, the lack of detail musculature, the bad head sculpt. Not even worth $20 much less the new higher price point.
True, but I think the larger criticism is just how wrinkly he is compared to how wrinkly the older Superman looked in the Crisis comic, but also just how scrunched his face is in the middle of his face. The eyes are really low.
$40 for that!? Sh!tty paint and lack of with no accessories. GTF out of here, McFarlane! The fig has the same quality as a $20 fig, which should've been $20 and not $40. Pass on this BS. I give the score 1 out of 5.
OK so I think I have figured out the reason why that and the new Ben Affleck Batman both do not have the backs painted probably because they have cloth capes and there’s probably something to do with the paint and it’s probably applied at the same time as the Cape, so it probably would get all over the Cape if they painted the back because they didn’t paint that belt they didn’t paint the back of Ben Affleck Batman, so maybe that’s one reason I don’t know
