That last part is one of the most important things for the pro-life movement to remember: abortion is a reflection that we’re not meeting the needs of women. If we really want to end abortion, our focus should be on addressing the underlying reasons that women choose to get abortions, every bit as much as on making abortion itself illegal.

Health care and child care are both obscenely expensive in the US, making the prospect of raising a child seem impractical to many people. Obviously, that does not justify abortion. _Obviously._ Nonetheless, if we take our heads out of our behinds long enough to consider the perspective of people who don’t share our foundation in faith, we would realize that there are practical pressures that drive women to seek abortions; and thus, addressing those practical pressures would go a long way in reducing abortion. How exactly would you suggest meeting men’s and women’s “need not to fornicate,” when those men and women reject the moral foundation from which you derive that need?
