how did someone who doesn't even enjoy playing bass come up with such clever and unique bass lines? The rhythm choices are unconventional and elevate the songs.
Have I ever mentioned that I love this channel? Every so often I wander back and learn a couple songs in relative ease. You basically taught me how to play bass, and now you're covering one of my all time favorite songs. Man, for that I am happily subscribed.
Fixed a little something for the better experience! Have fun! :) My next covers will be mostly by Interpol & Arctic Monkeys, so don't request them, I'll do them. Also, if you want to support me, you can, just read this video's description. Thank you! :)
Thank you so much. This song made me want to learn bass and your cover is by FAR the best and must accurate. No one comes close to yours. Here I am in March 2020 in corona lockdown learning this amazing riff. Please do more Interpol!
Nice. It was about time for someone to upload a video with tabs. I honestly have never play this song in drop D, I felt like It could be played well enough in standard tunning. But that was when I started playing like 4 years ago so don't mind me! haha you did a great job, man
Are most of Interpol's bass tuning drop D? I don't know how to tune my bass yet and I don't want to be switching between Drop D and standard EADG tuning everyday haha!
Hey Juffbass! Thank you for this. Quick question if I may ask. What is the stroking pattern for that second part of the first verse (8-10-8 etc.)? Thank you so much for your help!
Hi! I'm happy to help you, but could you be more specific? I can't really understand your question. If the problem is that you can't figure out the amount of notes, I would like to let you know that you can follow my tab calmly, as I always spend a lot of time to show the right amount of notes. :)
@@JuffBass the best way I can ask (through my knowledge) is what is the picking pattern for that part of the verse? Definitely not questioning the accuracy of your notes, just curious as to how you create the proper tone between up-stroking and down-stroking. You’re very right though, I should be able to slow down the video and follow it slow enough to figure out the picking pattern. Also, Merry Christmas from New Jersey, USA!
@@jo.n.9 Ahh I see now, it was just confusing, because there is an other part where the pattern is harder to recognise, actually I wrote a long reply about that other part, then noticed that you pointed out an other part with your problem. Well, by the way, there is not an exact rule for that, it depends on your comfort. If you have fast enough hand, you can play everything with down strokes. For me it's like everything is down strokes and I play up strokes when two notes are following each other tightly, because I can't play in time only with down strokes. So the best if you start to play slowly then you find out what is comfortable for you. Hope it helps somehow. :) Merry Christmas and greetings from Hungary! :)
Poxa obrigado amigo, essa música é mt especial pra mim pq foi a primeira q eu toquei ao vivo em um palco na escola quando tava no ensino médio, ela é mt top
@@JuffBass hahahhahahaha. Juff, may I ask you for Carlos D basslines, which bass strings do you suggest ? D'addario Chromes, Ernie Ball hybrid slinky or GHS boomers ? Any idea 💡

Carlos D is a true monster on bass! I love his work so much.
"In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert's there are few" -Shunryu Suzuki
Maybe he was so boring he found a way to entertain himself by playing these crazy lines
In an interview he said he just played the bass like a guitar cuz he had never played it before
As a bass player this is one of the most interesting bass lines I’ve ever come across. Unconventional and feels so right yet from another planet
Carlos’s work on this album is still my favorite of all time.
Agree!
The bit with the bird was so cute! Awesome video, nailed it

Wow, I didn't realize Interpol had so much depth to their basslines - until I got a tip-off on Facebook today. Thanks, Lauri!
