Brilliant stuff! I'm not too far behind you. In the process of tuning it stock, by the main man. Then it's time to bolt on all that non oem hardware! Looking forward to future episodes!
I literally sent the first log the day you posted this vid. And Alex came back with in an hour or so with a fresh calibration file. I get the car back from the bodyshop today so it's game on!
No problem. Glad the series is helping! I'm crowdfunding a dyno session for this car, if you're interested in helping out donations can be made at www.ko-fi.com/fastrust. Thanks. Good luck with your build.
Hi I have a question.I wanna fit supercharger for my Alfa Romeo 159 1.8 Mpi engine but problem is I don’t know how I’m gonna start this project because when I check google I can’t come across many after market parts about this engine.Brackets,Mounting etc. Can you help me about this? I’m so confused. Thanks in advance.
Enjoyed a couple of these vids, gonna go and watch the lot. I've been thinking about supercharging my mg zr 1.4, I'm not expecting mahoosive power, just a bit extra sprityness would be great enough, and want to stay with the 1.4 coz not many people bother with it, and it's what I got 😅 Anyways, was wondering if you know anything about trying to do it on an mg zr. I've done mechanics, so good with a spanner, but prefere the supercharger root over a turbo coz of all the extra fiddly bits involved with a turbo, cost and reliability and originality is also on the mind. Dunno if you know anywhere I can go to find a supercharger, also....although helpful for sure, would you really HAVE to do things like intercooler and whatnot....kinda wondering if just fitting a supercharger would work. Anyways, looking forward to the playlist for answers. Peace dude 💖
The G19 engineering kit for the 1.6 engines says it'll be ready for shipping by the second week of February 2022... It's a shame because I was really interested in it after seeing your videos
Yeah so last I heard on the 1.6 kit G19 were asking for early adoptors. I did the same for my kit in 2020. Basically you pay a small sum up front (about £30 if I remember correctly) which goes towards the design process. Then when the kit is finished you get one of the first off the production line for a reduced rate. Maybe worth giving them a call to check on progress?
great series i really looking forward to your test drive after tuning. i would love to have a go at this ,will you be putting together a full list of parts . also where do you get your info and any advice from?
Parts list yes, going to put everything into a spreadsheet and link it into the next video. Be a couple of weeks before I get that done though. Info / advice - lots of online research! I did most of it before starting the series to be honest, helped with planning episodes etc.
Hey, Im looking at picking up an NA which has the the m45 installed but no intercooler or crosspipe. Its still running as naturally aspirated atm on a stock tune. Can you describe how the bypass valve works? Under what conditions does it open and close… also from the installs Ive seen, most are installing the throttle body pre SC. what were your reasons for not doing so ?
Hey. Bypass valve opens with inlet vacuum. So when the car is idling or cruising it allows air to bypass the rotors of the supercharger - basically when you don't want boost. Kind of like a turbo wastegate.. sort of. If you backtrack a few videos I explain it. Its in the Intercooler Piping ep.
I've gone with single throttle body for now to keep the install as cheap as possible. I'm now working on getting parts together for a 2nd throttle body conversion which I'll update when it's done. Pros/cons etc.
That's the plan yeah. Then at least people have some idea what sort of power this setup can put out. 2nd throttle body is primarily to reduce noise. I do intend to do this mod so will document what's involved and also cover the pros/cons as well 👍🏻
@@FastRust second tb so you will have one before and one after the supercharger or 2 throttle bodies in parallel? Also how will the second throttlebody reduce the supercharger whine??? I’m not doubting I’m asking honestly
With a dual throttle body setup you retain the OEM throttle on the intake manifold, then have the 2nd throttle pre charger. The throttles are connected via a cable so they open simultaneously, but the pre charger throttle needs to slightly lead the oem throttle. This setup is MUCH quieter. How do I know? I've switched to dual throttles because I couldn't stand the noise. Check out the latest video you'll get a look at it.

Thanks mate. Finally feel like progress has been made! How long has tuning taken?

Nice. Get after it!
Ime about to supercharge mine, so thank you for sharing you’re knowledge- i want to ‘build my car’ with minimal experience! Love to get mucked in

The blow off valve should be that close to the intake manifold. Your losing air pressure

Hi Tony. Spreadsheet or parts & prices as promised docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nIg9hwx0gzkmJF1Z6-HDbCh-SWuxVT4-Ko0Ig-VLZ2w/edit#gid=0

Nice one mate, well done 👍
Thanks mate. Capri not far off being done so will give you a shout re Oulton.
@@FastRust Sweet mate 👍
great series, really makes me want a go at this ! would this work with an automatic ?
Thanks Graeme. Don't see why not!
This is very exciting! Will you take it to a dyno after tuning?
Also, what are the pros/cons of running a second throttle body on the supercharger?
