Thank you for your insight Katie. I can attest to the "Fake it till you Make it" philosophy. I have accomplished so much just from just trying and believing
That’s amazing!! I’m so glad 😍🙌🏻
Could you do a video about how you package your artwork for shipping? I would be so interested to find out! Looks like you put a lot of effort into making it special :)
I really like what you said about not having to have your style completely fleshed about before starting! It was definitely a worry of mine.
This video came at the PERFECT time. I just decided this week to get more serious about art and to start selling online. This had just reaffirmed my passion and my confidence ♡ I do still have to work on my technical skills because I've had a long break from art up until now, but there's no time like the present to make myself open to opportunities, especially since I have all the time in the world right now 😂😂
Thank you so much for this! Gonna pop over to that recommended online selling video now haha ♡
hows it going for you now in 2021?
I just adore that seascape behind you (and also love seeing how your painting style has evolved from looking at the first 2014 picture!) 🌊🌸
Thanks Katie! I just started painting seriously as a business this year, even though I’ve been painting for 12+ years for fun. Your video is very inspirational.
Thank you for this video! I'm currently going through this process and "Fake it till you make it" is definitely right!
I just learned how to paint and listening to this made me feel very inspired and hopeful. ❤
What a beautiful painting in the background!
You are such an inspiration katie! 😊 its so nice of you to share your journey and few of the tips and tricks you have learnt along the way! Really appreciate it❤

YAY!!!! NEW VIDEO!!!!!! :)
Hi thanks so much for the tips! 🙏🌷
Thank you so much for the fantastic advice. It was lovely meeting you at the exhibition last week. You are exactly the same in real life. Your work always looks good online but it was brilliant to see it for real. :)
It was so lovely to meet you too! ❤️ thank you for coming. I’m so pleased 😁
I would love to learn how to paint a scene like the one behind you 😢 Love that style and the colours!
you are so inspirational ❤️
Great video, Katie! I think another important tip with selling art is to build an email list as they can be very powerful especially with the algorithm changes associated with social media. It's also important to build some kind of emotional connection between the artwork and viewer such as sharing the meaning of the piece or a story associated with the piece. We buy with an emotional connection 💙😊
The email list is a great idea. But what would an artist share in a newsletter? Tutorials? Tips & tricks?
@@MsJoeyJody It depends on the artist's audience, if their audience are other artists then yes tutorials and artist advice. If they are trying to sell their artwork, then the newsletter should share about something their audience wants and needs. What does your audience need help with? What are their struggles? What can you give them to help and inspire them? The best way to know this is to survey your audience and ask them :)
This is the world that we need, a world where all artists are selling massively and making their dreams come true... Let's go!
Have just started following you... Lovely videos, very helpful... Thank you
Thank you for sharing your experience. ❤🌈👍
Wow I love your artworks❤❤❤
This is really useful, thank you.
This video came to me at the right time😔😔I lack confidence in selling my artwork...really needed the push 🙏❣
Thankyou for inspiring me❤❤🤗
I also doing same as u do in ur past life because I m also love art
I learned from your video how to paint water wave 🌊 I m very curious to know your painting ideas
Great advice
Thank you Katie! Would you consider doing a video on certificates of authenticity? Ive heard about them but it be awesome if you could do a short how to - why they are important and how to create your own?
Thank you😊
This video is so helpful
Very interesting video! I'm seriously considering dive in as well. My only issue is that I now have a full time job (39 hours) per week, which I realise is definetly not the best to find time to paint and improve my painting skills. But anyways your advices help me see things in a realistic point of view, and the more time pass, the more I'm sure that I wanna do that, even if it needs lots of time and putting all my energy into it. Thanks
I see...so I have to be more confident😐😐
Thanks for the information❤❤❤
Thank you for this Katie! I want to make a living of art more than I want anything, but aagh it's so hard.. :( I sometimes sell my illustrations at fun events and I always sell so much, but after begin an owner of an etsy shop for 3 years now and I still barely sell anything. For me it feels like I am doing something wrong, as I sell quite a lot in a small town but worldwide I sell something once every 3 months or so. I really need to work on my whole business side, but it basically doesn't excist.. Oops, haha
hopefully you get more sales soon
Ty it was good
Hi Katie, I just watched one of your videos for the first time. You are so easy to listen to,, easy to follow, and so easy to see myself creating more interesting work. I just started doing pour painting but I believe my heart is in abstract. I follow saraj art. I’m sure you know him. Anyway. That the kind of work is where I’d like to put my energies. Problem, i haven’t found anyone who can show step by step the use of the pallet knives, etc. Your slow calm and easy instructio is what I’m looking for. By any chance is that a style you work with and teach? If not do you have knowledge of someone who does. Meanwhile I’ve just become addicted to you. Thank you so much.
Hi Katie! I am a total noob when it comes to selling my art, as I have only started to look into doing so. If not tacky to ask, ease make a video on how to price artwork, package and ship maybe overseas? What are the standard requirements of doing so?
As it has only been a hobby of mine and I am not art-educated I would love to know the standard practices which someone like me should be aware of.
Thank you!
So i have this friend who said i should sell my art for 50 cents, i tell her that people pay for the material, time and skill.
Then she makes this response
“Then dont use that fancy shit! Who cares! Just do it with pencil, no way im gonna pay 20 bucks for a drawing!!
*i want to slap her*
You shouldnt remain friends with such kinda negative people.
Tell them it's ok if they can't afford it, buying art is a luxury not a necessity ....thats kinda like a slap in the face without the hand print :p
lmao
Wanna slap her too 🤣
I hate getting those kinds of comments!! Do people understand how much really goes into art? Some canvases are $200 alone! Then there’s paint, gesso, your own free time, and passion put into paintings. Sometimes I really can’t fathom how people say things like that!
Thank you for the good advice. I really love the painting behind you! Is it oil?
❤️
I really like your plant
Thank you so much for all the motivation and helpful videos you constantly do!
Im so glad I found You. I lack confidence in showcasing my work plus making painting after painting gets tedious in between cooking and cleaning and taking care of my pups.. how do You do it. For example: once i start a painting, i would need to continue it for a bit qithout any interruption so as not to lose my focus.. what do You do if you get interrupted ? Thank You
Katie please post the video of the deer you are painting at the beginning of this video
Love your tutorials! Are you on skill share ?
Your videos are so helpful! Thank you🙏 Maybe selling my work someday...😉
i have an etsy, but my main issue is the lack of a following. there just isn’t traffic on my website
I'm still looking for my personal unique style. 😢
It always depends on the medium I am using and how I feel on a certain day. I can't really decide who I medium is "mine". I guess I just love the freedom to hop around between different mediums. 😮
Thanks for this video!
I sold my first paint for $15 made a $7 profit. Sent from cali to rhode island no profit was really made but it felt good getting a sale
I m your knees deep fan
U look so cute omg
Hello I love your videos! 💛 Quick question what if you did a painting and you didn’t tape off the back and there’s a lot of paint on the back ...is it still professional to sell it like that?
You first have to get that ikea trolley. I see that every single professional artist I follow has it.
So I assume I need it
Haha! If you find a better alternative, do please let us know 🤣
Step 1: IKEA Trolley!
😉
Which one? the blue one next to her?
Buddy Buds yeah. Looks like the one at Michael’s craft store. But ikea has one similar.
I have 2 and thinking about another since I live near an Ikea.
I tried selling on etsy but stopped it because it didn't seem to work well for me and I didn't got any sells even though many people (on instagram and in real life) told me they really would like to buy art from me. And then a few months ago I had a local exhibition and I sold sooo much I couldn't believe it! So apparently showing my work in galleries seem to work better for me. But the one experience I had was more like luck and a happy coincidence and I really wonder how to get into galleries.
Sounds like your art doesn't photograph well. Or it's so good it appeals to gallery types, rather than etsy types.
Would you tell me which book or books u used to read for painting in the beginning? Please answer
Sweet ^_^
I do calligraphy
what studies have you done to become an artist? KAtie
Are etsy and skillshare open for people in Australia?

Thank you soon much , for your nice advice, I am Artist from Afghanistan, can I sell my art work through Etsy? because Afghanistan is not eligible for PayPal account, plz inform me, thanks .
I am about 65 years old
oi. como vai vc ?
How can I sell my paintings?
I have a question. Do i have to learn how to draw before i proceed to painting??
Let's Yeogi Buteora Kpop // It’s not HAVE TO, more like, what are you most comfortable in? Do you need a guide first before painting? Then yes, learning how to draw will help you. Or are you the type that likes to paint the big picture first before doing the outlines? Literally no one knows but you.
