    This video came at the PERFECT time. I just decided this week to get more serious about art and to start selling online. This had just reaffirmed my passion and my confidence ♡ I do still have to work on my technical skills because I've had a long break from art up until now, but there's no time like the present to make myself open to opportunities, especially since I have all the time in the world right now 😂😂
    Thank you so much for this! Gonna pop over to that recommended online selling video now haha ♡

    Great video, Katie! I think another important tip with selling art is to build an email list as they can be very powerful especially with the algorithm changes associated with social media. It's also important to build some kind of emotional connection between the artwork and viewer such as sharing the meaning of the piece or a story associated with the piece. We buy with an emotional connection 💙😊

    • @MsJoeyJody
      @MsJoeyJody 4 роки тому

      The email list is a great idea. But what would an artist share in a newsletter? Tutorials? Tips & tricks?

    • @AllisonLyonArt
      @AllisonLyonArt 4 роки тому +1

      @@MsJoeyJody It depends on the artist's audience, if their audience are other artists then yes tutorials and artist advice. If they are trying to sell their artwork, then the newsletter should share about something their audience wants and needs. What does your audience need help with? What are their struggles? What can you give them to help and inspire them? The best way to know this is to survey your audience and ask them :)

My only issue is that I now have a full time job (39 hours) per week, which I realise is definetly not the best to find time to paint and improve my painting skills. But anyways your advices help me see things in a realistic point of view, and the more time pass, the more I'm sure that I wanna do that, even if it needs lots of time and putting all my energy into it. Thanks

    Thank you for this Katie! I want to make a living of art more than I want anything, but aagh it's so hard.. :( I sometimes sell my illustrations at fun events and I always sell so much, but after begin an owner of an etsy shop for 3 years now and I still barely sell anything. For me it feels like I am doing something wrong, as I sell quite a lot in a small town but worldwide I sell something once every 3 months or so. I really need to work on my whole business side, but it basically doesn't excist.. Oops, haha

    Hi Katie, I just watched one of your videos for the first time. You are so easy to listen to,, easy to follow, and so easy to see myself creating more interesting work. I just started doing pour painting but I believe my heart is in abstract. I follow saraj art. I’m sure you know him. Anyway. That the kind of work is where I’d like to put my energies. Problem, i haven’t found anyone who can show step by step the use of the pallet knives, etc. Your slow calm and easy instructio is what I’m looking for. By any chance is that a style you work with and teach? If not do you have knowledge of someone who does. Meanwhile I’ve just become addicted to you. Thank you so much.

    Hi Katie! I am a total noob when it comes to selling my art, as I have only started to look into doing so. If not tacky to ask, ease make a video on how to price artwork, package and ship maybe overseas? What are the standard requirements of doing so?
    As it has only been a hobby of mine and I am not art-educated I would love to know the standard practices which someone like me should be aware of.
    Thank you!

    So i have this friend who said i should sell my art for 50 cents, i tell her that people pay for the material, time and skill.
    Then she makes this response
    “Then dont use that fancy shit! Who cares! Just do it with pencil, no way im gonna pay 20 bucks for a drawing!!

      I hate getting those kinds of comments!! Do people understand how much really goes into art? Some canvases are $200 alone! Then there’s paint, gesso, your own free time, and passion put into paintings. Sometimes I really can’t fathom how people say things like that!

    I tried selling on etsy but stopped it because it didn't seem to work well for me and I didn't got any sells even though many people (on instagram and in real life) told me they really would like to buy art from me. And then a few months ago I had a local exhibition and I sold sooo much I couldn't believe it! So apparently showing my work in galleries seem to work better for me. But the one experience I had was more like luck and a happy coincidence and I really wonder how to get into galleries.
