  • This film tells the story of the servicemen who worked on the Buccaneers during the 1991 conflict. Using recently published archive material, private collections and extensive video footage from the Buccaneer Pave Spike Pod, the experiences of those who are never normally heard from are told in greater detail than ever before.
This film is an attempt to tell history from the bottom up. My intention was not to replay the Gulf War. Instead it was to focus on the people and experiences that will never make it into the history books. Immeasurable thanks must go to those who let me record their stories and trusted me enough to do it right.
XX894, lovingly maintained by dedicated volunteers from The Buccaneer Aviation Group, is featured in the film. It, along with XW544, can be seen performing live demonstrations at Cotswold Airport several times per year. Thanks to Dave Webber, Chairman of TBAG, for allowing me privileged access for filming and for providing critical archived information.

Great video!!! I'm so glad the story of the Bucc and the crews in the gulf has been told. The Tornados made the news but the buccs wrote the headlines. I was never happier than as a kid seeing buccs flying low level through the valleys.
It. Was a sad day when the Bucc was retired😢

Pete - I'll never forget the "sandwich breakfast" on 14th February. Thank you.

      @@petewright-gardner6548 Hello Pete,
I'm still alive and well and haven't moved very far away from Lossie. Watching the video brought home to me how our (aircrew/groundcrew) experience of the event differed, but we all came together to get the job done. From a personal perspective, the mission on the 14th February was something I really wasn't looking forward to and skipped breakfast in "Billy Smarts" to sit in the cockpit and double...triple...check everything because I had a bad feeling about the whole plan. Your gesture - noticing me in the darkness and looking after me - was a huge morale lift, even if the Breakfast Banjo you brought me was impossible to eat. My mouth was so dry I couldn't swallow it. I truly thought that the sunrise was the last one I'd see...
I hope that you're well - you certainly look it - and maybe we'll meet for a beer sometime. Regards, MW
