Boarded a plane today from Phoenix to Asheville with several volunteers going to help people bringing medical supplies going to help and try to make a difference to that community that was hit with devastation. I loved seeing that come from my state and these people that are making sacrifices to help other people in my heart is full. Thank you for all of that have volunteered, and served this community!

I’m a lot more concerned about the wildlife than I am about Biltmore. I didn’t realize when I went there 30 some years ago and paid twenty-some dollars then that it was owned by the Vanderbilts. I assumed that they had given it to the state, as William Randolph Hurst did with Hurst castle in California. It’s not in my budget to support millionaires/billionaires.

In estates Tn and western NC they had two damn failures,a damn overflowing the top several cities flooded,roads wiped out etc. When you have a damn failure you don’t have much time at all.its not like a hurricane where you have a weeks notice. This is bad. Real bad. This entire area is screwed. Some of these small towns up there in Western Carolina have been wiped off the map. This has never happened to this degree before in this area.

From October of last year through March 1st I made weekly trips to Mission Hospital there in Asheville. Drove through Biltmore Village to get there. Ate at the Wendy's and Moe's. This just hurts my heart to see. So many jobs lost, at least for now.

Never tell insurance you had a flood just tell them you got water damage some cases it covers water damage but not flood. I actually found this out 15 years ago, most insurance companies cover water damage not flood.
I lived in Ashville for a couple years. It was a beautiful town with heart filled people. They even had a "Chamber Of Consciousness." Why werent the people warned in time so they could excape from the water flowing into their home's? Thats a crime that no one warned them!
We visited Asheville in 2018 and loved Biltmore and the Art district, its so sad to see this all wrecked, my prayers are with all affected for a hasty recovery.

You kind of need water to have a city, especially back when cities were being built. It was also easier to grow crops from this soil. It's the very basics of how civilization started. We did it in Louisiana after Katrina you have to gut the flooded structures and install new drywall. It's a pain in the ass but it can be done. Floridian here. I love the beautiful area, been a handful of times. However, it's apparent from these videos (and surely flood maps) that this low-lying area IS a floodplain. Yes. It dries out, but will eventually flood again. Maybe build and rebuild on stilts, but not sure that's enough either as these flood events can be so powerful to knock out buildings and roadways. The Biltmore is privately owned and they do restrict drone footage. I highly doubt the house flooded, at least not like this. It sits on top of a very tall foothill. If it flooded, there would be no one and nothing left of the city.

They know almost no one has flood insurance. The storm was no accident. I feel for everyone there, but rest assured most will likely lose everything.

Hurricanes are very unpredictable. From what I read it was forecasted to miss NC but suddenly veered right.
