Wow, so close to home for me. My husband also had to not only be with me but to accept the closeness of my family and that we would eventually care for them. Its now just my elderly dad, my darling husband and me living together and dad tells people that he considers my husband to be a son to him. This always makes me teary as my husband was never close to his family so Im thankful that he has got to experience unconditional and unlimited love from us. And yes, my heritage is Indian and his is Australian/English. ❤❤
Being in a cross-cultural relationship is tough. There are customs from each that are essentially obligations you have to uphold or the family feels slighted. When one partner doesn't understand that "it's just something I have to do." I wish we lived in a world where we could be and do as we please without repercussions.
