Its amazing how a game where a texas senator drop kicks a cyborg ninja with a crowd cheering has some very deep philosophical arguments about the nature of human conflict.
Can't believe that Sam was such a Chad he took on a fucking metal gear, senator, and robot man who could suplex metal gears. And most of all he had no cybernetic enhancements other than an arm and his suit.
Nah, he had to have cybernetics in order to jump high, use Zandatsu (blade mode,) the ability to royally piss off machines, cyborgs, and Haki-using Senators, and cut a freakin' Metal Gear in half by just drawing his sword.
Another detail: In Sam's DLC, he has an attack where after doing a quick draw, he blows smoke off of his sword sheath, akin to someone blowing off a gun barrel after firing.
That's gotta have some kind of symbolism deep in there but I have no idea what it is besides Sam's mask resembling that of an outlaw's, hiding his identity
I have no real clue what could this symbolize at all, but I could give a theory on what I personally think it symbolizes. Sam hides his mouth, because like the video stated, Sam is trying to mask his identity like those cowboys, but I don't believe that's what it's truly trying to say, because there's no point in hiding your identity behind a mask when everyone knows who you are. What I think this really symbolizes is that Sam hides behind a mask because he doesn't want to listen to whatever tells him he's going down the wrong path because he's already made his choice. There is nothing that can stop Sam from going against World Marshel due to him losing a part of himself. He doesn't want to argue with anyone about ideals, but he is watching and observing to possibly see how his actions speak louder than his words. Raiden, on the other hand, masks his face because he doesn't want to change his ideals at all, being stoneheaded into them, refusing to accept anything that someone tells him, unlike Sam. Sam is watching and observing, wanting to change his ideals because he sees a future where Raiden will uphold his legacy, whereas Raiden doesn't like to change it at all, because he's already convinced himself he's going down the right path. Think about it. When Armstrong destroyed the thing that covers Raiden's eyes, Raiden was observing and watching, even deciding to listen to Armstrong's speech about what he believes. When masked behind the thing covering his eyes, he believes Senator Armstrong is just another corrupt politician, which explains the theme "Collective Consciousness", because Raiden is telling himself this is what Armstrong is. When Armstrong gets rid of it, the final boss theme is almost like an apology between the two, understanding each other's ideals despite the fact that one of them has to die to continue on down the path of what they believe is right. However, that's only if you assume it applies for both of them. Most likely, it applies for Raiden, because Raiden is the one that this song is suppose to represent. Raiden, no longer masked, sees Armstrong's ideals, but regrettably has to kill him instead of believing in his own ideals, and Raiden changes his ideal of his sword only being a means of justice, because he gets Sam's blade. He no longer wishes to fight for justice but rather anger and vengeance. At the end of the game, you can notice Raiden possibly believing a bit in Armstrong's philosophy, saying people fight for causes they don't believe in. He even changes his appearence, now having a suit and tie just like Armstrong. Raiden used his mask to mask his ideals and wouldn't allow himself to be convinced to the ideals of others, unlike Sam. Sam knew what he was doing was wrong but couldn't stop himself from fighting because he lost himself already, but he knew Raiden was going down the right path in his opinion. That's what I believe at least.
One amazing little known detail to note: In the Japanese release of Rising, androids and cyborgs will typically have white blood instead of red. Typically, as Sam is one of the only characters who bleeds with the red as opposed to the white. Showing how human he truly was the whole time.
Haven't played MGRR in years but didn't Bladewolf tell Raiden that Sam was mostly human and that his arm was his only cyborg part after Raiden hills him?
@@JFLEstudios Yes I believe that is correct. It's amazing to see just how strong he was having only a cybernetic arm and an exosuit to combat people like Raiden and Monsoon who are more machine than human. Dude was wickedly capable
Raidens' mask covers his eyes but leaves the mouth open, blinding him from the truth but freely speaking his ideals, while sams' covers his mouth but keeps the eyes free, allowing him to see the truth of the world around him but preventing him from speaking about it to others.
It’s interesting that when Sam is disarmed, and attacks with his cybernetic arm, there is a red warning flash, but when he kicks, there isn’t one. I think his kick is actually the only attack in the game without a red or yellow warning flash. It really gives an impression that he is unpredictable and aimless without his weapon, although still very well trained and deadly.
Good guy Sam: when Blade Wolf says that he lost to Sam because his design is flawed, Sam says that it's not that Blade Wolf is defective - it's just that Sam was really, really good.
I want you all to notice something. When Sam cut Armstrong’s arm, it was in a sharp angle. When he cut Raiden’s arm, it was a perfect straight cut, he also cut further up the arm past the elbow joint rendering it useless. (Also, his face guard writing on the sides read “Combat Oxygen Supplier”).
Increasing his supply of oxygen probably comes with a LOT of bonuses. Moving at speeds capable of keeping up with someone like Raiden would make breathing difficult, and artificially regulating his oxygen intake would also keep him awake and maximize his stamina longer in combat, and since he's mostly organic, his body probably tires out quicker from moving around in a suit that makes his muscles move exponentially faster. Let's also not rule out how difficult it would be to breathe at all with an unguarded face on top of a train. *edit* I just realized he wasn't wearing his mask on the train but my point still stands

The G.W. AI lecture in MGS2 is considered "the most profound moment in video gaming" because of its fortelling of social media manipulation. This game was released to a more high-octane generation of gamers that have trouble seeing past THE MEMEZ and UG-suplexing. But the astute Metal Gear player sees the core of this game's events as another harolding of societal manipulation. But in fairness, the original Deus Ex gave us our first glimpse of meme warfare.
I once heard someone say in one point in history that gunslingers or duelists, samurai, Pirates, and Knights all existed to some capacity at the same time. He then went on to say that you could produce a story that has a group with a gunslinger, failed samurai, failed Knight, and a shippless pirate and it would still be historically accurate. Has nothing to do with the video but if anyone can elaborate and tell me more details on this I'd really appreciate it, alot.
The last samurai to ever exist died in 1877. knights were still a thing until some time in the 1700s when guns became too strong for conventional armor to help, but armor in general was still used until some time in the 1800s, and swords were still a thing until the world wars. The wild west was from 1865 to 1895 (1865 was when the first real revolver was created, but gunslingers of the sort definitely could've existed before then, the first revolver was in 1835 and way before that single shots were a thing), the golden age of piracy was from the 1650s to the 1730s, but pirates still exist even today in places such as Somali, boats and all. So very early 1800s could have a samurai, a knight who refuses to accept plate armor isn't effective anymore or transitioning into the lighter variants that are more common for the time, a pirate is just some robber dude with boat experience, a flintlock and a sword, and a gun expert that is flying through rifle shots or flintlocks with as much speed as possible. It's not a perfect mesh, but it seems very much possible if you're wanting a pseudo-realistic DnD type thing. Just be prepared for the knight to die quickly if a rifle is pointed at him.
@@megasuperiordude much appreciated partner. But Knights are still a thing to this day. Just like sir Issac Newton, Steven Spielberg was knighted by the queen. So technically the director of E.T is a knight. But that's completely ceremonious and he wouldn't really do anything Knights in the 1700s do.

No joke, for my college music course, I chose for my essay on song meanings to be on "The Only Thing I Know For Real." The instructor actually liked the meaning behind the song, and after watching this video, I learned to love it even more.
The thing about “Italian and Greek looking” but also Japanese inspired Samurai and western cowboy could be a nod on how South America and Brazil specifically is just a mix of multiple heritages that create their own culture as Brazilian, many descendants of Brazilian households in one neighbourhood could be of completely different descent from Japan all the way to the east up to America all the way to the west, so Sam having Italian roots might be possible, my mother is a “full blooded” Brazilian but her mother is a descendant of the Brazilian native tribes of the Yanomami and her father is from the Netherlands and my father is from Portugal, and I live in germay, multiculturalism is part of the Brazilian history
Yep. Brazil has the largest italian and japanese population outside their original countries, mainly on the state of São Paulo, where nearly half of the population have italian ancestry, like Rodrigo Santoro (Westworld, 300, as Xerxes), and a great bunch of them of japanese ancestry like Lyoto Machida, MMA champion and karate fighter. The "Liberdade" in the city of São Paulo is also the largest japanese community outside Japan. So, it's not hard to meet people like Sam. As a matter of fact, three of my uncles and two of my cousins are actually japanese-italian-brazilians.

I always loved how Raiden was more like a Ninja and Sam was a samurai. Even the way they hold their swords, and their stances. I know Raiden isn't 100% a Ninja, but he's more Ninja like than Samurai. Also Sam's theme is fucking godlike. Very few songs get my blood pumping as much as it.
Raiden was always a shinobi, since MGS2. He's always been an agent rather than a fighter, until rising of course, but even in Rising he still uses the disguise in Mexico, owing to his stealthful nature. Even in stature the two are contrasted, Sam is wide and burly, while Raiden is slimmer and leaner.
Also, Sam lost his right arm, while Raiden lost his left. Signifying how both of them combine to make a full set of arms, completing the half they are both missing.
His mask can represent a bandana, but it also looks alot like a samurai mempo, which was a face peice worn by the samurai attached to their helmet, but the masterless samurai know as ronin also wore them without helmet
I actually love Jetstream Sam and if I’m being honest i don’t get all the hate MGR gets it was such a great game and Sam was a splendid character and when I saw the notification I never expected an mgr video and then the god tier theme of his fight in the end with Raiden oh don’t even get me started Edit:To clarify what I mean by hate is people talk a lot of bad on the official videos or the reviews on the store
For me is the fact that it was not made by Kojima and it is weird when considering what the end of mgs4 is suppose to represent. I don’t hate it but as part of the metal gear series, it lives a weird taste in my mouth.
I think the only 3 hates that I hear a lot are: 1 , the game being somewhat short , true , most campaign games are short , but at least some give you freedom to make a whole level or play someone's level , like in DOOM 2016 2 , the game not having a sequel despite being out for 7 years , and it also sequel baits at the end of the game , that's infuriating 3 , the fact that it's the only game that lets you freely cut enemies , although this is more of a hate on the industry rather then the game itself , come on gaming companies , 7 years and we still didn't get anything like it
@@edselcervantes6229 There's been weirder shit in this franchise. I do t see a problem besides the change in combat. I think it needed a change in gameplay, as there's only so much you can do with stealth compared to a game like this.
@@djordjepopovic7568 (Apologies if this gets a little long.) The second point you raised is no fault of the game itself, but of Konami as the publisher that owns the Metal Gear IP doing nothing with Revengeance despite its unexpected success. Third point I'll give you because despite the Fox Engine that Konami has ownership of showing some real promise in Revengeance and MGS5, nothing meaningful has been done with it. It's wasted potential. I can kind of get how some people would vent that particular frustration on the game, even if it is unreasonable, and ultimately it ties into the second point since Konami is involved. First point has more to do with the nature of the developer, Platinum Games, and their design philosophy with what they develop. A lot of the staff who worked on Revengeance were some of the same people who worked on the first three Devil May Cry games, and those games have a similar structure in their narrative, how missions/acts are staged, and the length of the game. A big part of the replayability of their games (including Bayonetta 1&2, Transformers: Devastation, and more recently Astral Chain) is that their main stories are compact and tight, meant to work with an entertaining narrative that has some complexity, but never leaning too far into a narrative experience. Standard playtime for these kinds of games is between four to ten hours, depending on if you're exploring/having difficulty/speedrunning/farming to upgrade skills/finding collectibles. Story and gameplay have to work together, because these are video *games*, not interactive movies. This allows players who enjoyed the gameplay to repeat the game on higher difficulties to test and refine their skills, which is given direct feedback through the scoring system. So those who get mad or dislike Revengeance for the first point you raised kind of miss the whole point of character action games, and that Revengeance is about enjoying the ride that is the story AND gameplay. As for me, I don't really hang around circles that openly dislike or hate Revengeance. I know one person online who really dislikes the game, but that's more due to specific characters causing her an intense emotional reaction from the philosophies they espouse, and it really angers and freaks her out that they'd say such things.
I also like the contrast of them Sam is mostly human, with 1 cyborg limb Raiden is that much of a cyborg even his blood his artificial with barely any human parts left in him
I challenged myself to beat Sam without healing and only using Raiden's katana, and I managed to do it. The sense of honor and pride I felt was shockingly immense, to be honest.
I challenged myself with doing a no-hit run on the hardest difficulty. I'm not entirely sure if I did it but I remember for sure that Sam and Armstrong I was able to do it successfully. Which was pretty satisfying. Incidentally I only used the Katana because I may have forgotten about the other weapons and I was most comfortable using it
i played the entire game without heals because i chose to. it was too easy with heals i only used 1 repair nanopaste on the first play during the monsoon fight
1:45 Its never going to be equal. Sam's barely enhanced, and fights mostly with his superiority, while raiden has to tech himself up just to be able to have a chance against him. There will never be another swordmaster as good as Sam.
I have to disagree with you there. When you call Doktor, he says straight up that technology wouldn't be the deciding factor in the duel. Obviously you can't take that at face value, but you gotta remember that just cause Sam's not fully augmented, doesn't make his tech a slouch compared to Raiden's. Sam was clearly able to catch and momentarily stop a downward cleave from Raiden with his bare hands, he's able to block multiple hits from a fully enhanced Raiden with one hand on his sword before losing his balance, his armor could tank hooks from Armstrong, and the exosuit provides enough strength behind his HF blade and attacks to cut a Metal Gear RAY clean in half. Raiden won fair and square, and only lost the first time because even Sam knew he wasn't at the top of his game.
sam’s literally wearing an exosuit ala solidus so he can keep up with cyborgs. otherwise yeah his perception is pretty fucking insane since he can react to raiden’s sub-relative sword swings
Just to add something, Brazil is an extremely culturally diverse country, we have a lot of Italians and Japanese people, so sam looking a little Italian and having a Japanese family could very much happen over here
Soo, Just realized something, Minuano is a word that is only used in the south part of Brazil, at this part of the country, most of it's people have European ancestry(mostly from Italy and Germany) that can be a justification to why Sam looks so ,you know, italian
Minuano is a indigenous tribe in the South of Brazil. But yes, the southern region of Brazil are mostly populated by germans and italians. Actually, german is a co-offical language in many cities in the south. The italians and japanese are more common in São Paulo (southeast region).
You know despite being the primary protagonist of the series, and a timeless industry-defining icon, I never see character breakdowns like this for Solid Snake. Think you can fill those shoes?
I took the vocals in the songs leaving with the blade being more that the sword is how Sam and Raiden articulate those feelings. Without it they still have that feeling (the music playing) but only with a sword in hand can they articulate it (The lyrics staying with the blade).
I believe the choice of Brazil for being Sam's homeland was on point. He is the fusion of the conceptions of the Samurai from the east, and Cowboys from the West. Brazil has huge japanese and italian communities since the earliest years of the 1900s, creating a pretty interesting culture combination. Sam's also very outgoing and charismatic, a big steriotype amongst brazilians, as this cultural fusion agregates to the people and make them more united, which leads to this typical friendly and charming behavior.
I love how MGR doesn’t just throw music around carelessly. If there’s music, it has a purpose, if the music has lyrics, those lyrics have purpose, if the music loses their lyrics, that loss has purpose.
@@binho2010ish I love how Sam's theme is also less 'robotic-sounding' if you know what I mean? It's good old fashioned heavy metal, with some amazing lyrics. Plus, I also hear flutes in the background. The lyrics also being about loss of one's identity feel really personal and somewhat relatable. Bah, let's face it, the entire OST of this game is god-tier.
If there ever is a sequel I still hope that they reveal Sam somehow lived and he is the one to face Raiden again after Raiden goes off the deep end with Jack. To remind him to be the better man.
could you imagine playing mgrr 2 and raidens gone fucking batshit in like a cutscene or something theres the sound of approaching footsteps paired with the sound of win then, and only then, would sam's theme start playing
Actually I think a better idea on how that could work is Raiden going insane and he hears and sees Sam telling him to be better than this, better than him and it starts a boss fight from *Sam's* perspective with the same moveset as Raiden currently as you face against Jack the Ripper. This Sam is of course a delusion that Raiden sees in his madness but the fight will still be real. If I could write a song for the fight I'd make it a reprise of "The only thing I know is real", but with a few hints of other MGR themes and a different set of lyrics. I guess example lyrics of it would be... _My spirit was broken, My body was smoking, all I had left was only my name!_ _But now I see through my act of treason, was worth that whole reason that I left you my family's blade!_ _Your path has been broken, your end is uncertain, but it doesn't have to be this way you now feel!_ _You claim to know nothing but blood-shed, but I'll continue to shake my head._ _You were the one, left, who continued my fight when I once had ran from death._ _Because I know you have fought against your original fate. Oh, yeah!_ _You claim to know nothing but blood-shed, but I won't run again like I once let my past self done._ _Take back your identity, to know why we are the same._ _To find the truth in front of me, I must fight against the storming rage._ _Looking upwards to see the bright light! And finally remembering the reason I fight!_
I am so glad that you mentioned the detail in the music during the Armstrong fight, and how it parallels the same detail in the music during Sam's fight. It is my absolute favorite detail in the entire game.
MGRR is seriously underrated, IMHO. From the easy-to-learn-hard-to-master swordplay, to the timeless memes, to its deeper philosophical points. This game has a special place in my library.
funny how the calamity mod of terraria has a sword that looks exactly the same and has the same name, which is "murasama" and actually is the most powerful sword in that mod. It can be obtained by killing a very hard boss, there is also an alternative to get it and that is by naming your character "Jetstream Sam" or "Samuel Rodrigues".
it's a nice detail how the lyrics for "the only thing i know for real" relate to raiden's initial struggle with identity crisis, and knowing nothing but violence since he was a child. most of the boss fight themes comunicate the perspective of the boss in question, which contrast with raiden's personal experience. also, sam himself said that "the war was the big pay off", meaning that he eventually learned of armstrong's plans to use the war economy to destroy it, and create a world of anarchy where everyone gets to choose their own fights, instead of being told what to fight for. that was something he seemed to be looking forward to, but turning into another soldier fighting for someone else's ideals, and raiden taking down world marshall by himself, despite all the gaslighting done to stop him from playing the hero like sam once did, seem to have made him reevaluate it all.. anyway this video is amazing, great job.
One could even see Sam proceeding with the fight against Raiden anyways despite not being certain of his own beliefs as a means of carrying out the philosophy of seppuku. He became the thing he set out destroy, and even if there was a chance that the ends would justify the means, he was still willingly playing accomplice to World Marshall's atrocities. By fighting Raiden and setting a timer on the Murasama's lock in case he lost, he genuinely left it up to fate and atoned for his crimes.
How MGR wants you to know about Samuel: A deep character who lost porpoise due revenge, he seeks what he has lost in Raiden and is made as a weapon by desperado. What i understood about Samuel: Brazilians can double jump
So many details. I really love this game for the philosophy behind each villain but this video describes it on a whole new level. Thanks for doing this video.
Every bit of this fight is masterful. My favorite is when you knock Sam's sword away and he says "show me a good time Jack!" That line alone is Sam slightly acknowledging Jack's skill, but also demanding more of him, as if to say "you've disarmed me huh? Good job! Now take advantage of it!!". Almost like Sam is teaching Jack how to fight for real.

Thank god I'm not the only one who remembers
I don’t hate it but as part of the metal gear series, it lives a weird taste in my mouth.
Yeah, and Armstrong is one of my favorite villains of series by far
I think the only 3 hates that I hear a lot are:
1 , the game being somewhat short , true , most campaign games are short , but at least some give you freedom to make a whole level or play someone's level , like in DOOM 2016
2 , the game not having a sequel despite being out for 7 years , and it also sequel baits at the end of the game , that's infuriating
3 , the fact that it's the only game that lets you freely cut enemies , although this is more of a hate on the industry rather then the game itself , come on gaming companies , 7 years and we still didn't get anything like it

The second point you raised is no fault of the game itself, but of Konami as the publisher that owns the Metal Gear IP doing nothing with Revengeance despite its unexpected success.

There will never be another swordmaster as good as Sam.
Idk about ever
Sam was xp vs Raiden's tech
@Aquarium Gravel You know thats a good point
sam’s literally wearing an exosuit ala solidus so he can keep up with cyborgs. otherwise yeah his perception is pretty fucking insane since he can react to raiden’s sub-relative sword swings

Jetstream Sam is unironically one of my favourite characters ever and I'm glad you made this!

This Sam is of course a delusion that Raiden sees in his madness but the fight will still be real.
If I could write a song for the fight I'd make it a reprise of "The only thing I know is real", but with a few hints of other MGR themes and a different set of lyrics.
I guess example lyrics of it would be...

_But now I see through my act of treason, was worth that whole reason that I left you my family's blade!_
_Your path has been broken, your end is uncertain, but it doesn't have to be this way you now feel!_
_You claim to know nothing but blood-shed, but I'll continue to shake my head._
_You were the one, left, who continued my fight when I once had ran from death._
_Because I know you have fought against your original fate. Oh, yeah!_
_You claim to know nothing but blood-shed, but I won't run again like I once let my past self done._
_Take back your identity, to know why we are the same._

funny how the calamity mod of terraria has a sword that looks exactly the same and has the same name, which is "murasama" and actually is the most powerful sword in that mod. It's in the hell lab IIRC, it's only USABLE under those condition.
it's a nice detail how the lyrics for "the only thing i know for real" relate to raiden's initial struggle with identity crisis, and knowing nothing but violence since he was a child.
most of the boss fight themes comunicate the perspective of the boss in question, which contrast with raiden's personal experience.
also, sam himself said that "the war was the big pay off", meaning that he eventually learned of armstrong's plans to use the war economy to destroy it, and create a world of anarchy where everyone gets to choose their own fights, instead of being told what to fight for.
that was something he seemed to be looking forward to, but turning into another soldier fighting for someone else's ideals, and raiden taking down world marshall by himself, despite all the gaslighting done to stop him from playing the hero like sam once did, seem to have made him reevaluate it all..
anyway this video is amazing, great job.

Yeah, alot of them
How MGR wants you to know about Samuel: A deep character who lost porpoise due revenge, he seeks what he has lost in Raiden and is made as a weapon by desperado.
What i understood about Samuel: Brazilians can double jump
So many details. I really love this game for the philosophy behind each villain but this video describes it on a whole new level. Thanks for doing this video.
This is your best work .
Every bit of this fight is masterful. My favorite is when you knock Sam's sword away and he says "show me a good time Jack!"
That line alone is Sam slightly acknowledging Jack's skill, but also demanding more of him, as if to say "you've disarmed me huh? Good job! Now take advantage of it!!".
Almost like Sam is teaching Jack how to fight for real.
Man, been a Brazilian myself, Sam Is my favorite character so far in games. Thanks for video, i always wanted to know all of it.
Eh mesmo dane-se
@@ramon1930 🤣
Someone finally did this video. I've been wanting a breakdown of Sam's philosophy and story for ages now.
Samuel Rodrigues is the perfect character to represent my country. I am so happy for this.
I never expected you'd make a vid for Sam but hell am I glad you did. Keep up with the awesome content!
He's design being italian like makes a lot of sense, here on Brazil we have a lot of Italian descendents, myself included, because after the end of slavery here the farm owners didn't want to contract the free slaves so they bring a lot of italians to work here.
Jetstrean Sam, Katana Zero, nice music choices, etc. I LOVE THIS VIDEO!
Finally, a meme worth calling pretty!
MGR is soooooo underrated, I'm so glad someone is taking a look at it.
In the end the east and west love each other's stuff and many of what's known today in movies, games and such was the result of reimagining and inspiration of each other's work.
Neat
Everything is a fanfiction.
The samurai/cowboy connection has always fascinated me.
Dude I never in a million years thought you'd make an analysis on mgs not even talking about Mgr and even on my favorite character, damn man thanks 😁
omg it's so good to see some brazilian representation in games, thank you for making such a good video about such a good character
YESSSS YESSS YESSS THANK YOU!!!
Thank you so much for making this video truly informational and enjoyable
This game really was something unique. If not in it's gameplay, definitely in the story and the way it carries forwards all the themes of MGS. It had such huge potential to turn into a great franchise like DMC, shame Konami wasted it.
When I first played, I forgot I could lock onto enemies, so when I fought Sam and he dashed away behind me, I was just spamming parry lol...
Don't forget that the finger twitching is nothing short of ICONIC for westerns, hovering over their gun in holster; ready to draw. That is a scene used an infinitesimal number of times in all forms of media.
That explosive quick draw is so fucking cool and badass
Also when Raiden gets Sam's sword during the Armstrong fight he says "Let's dance" which is what Sam said before he fought raiden and Armstrong in the Dlc
"what's your favourite garden hose setting? Mines Jetstream"
- Sam probably
Hispanic? No, *I'm* the one who's panicking
The most Human Boss in the whole Game, besides his right arm and suit, no cybernetics, just Dedicated Training, Pure Skill….
*All Sam…*
What makes sam the best for me is the fact he just fights because he wants to, not for any higher cause, just for himself
I love the fact that this game has a lot of parts saying "THE MEMES!", but instead of that becoming a meme, "Nanomachines, son" is what really made it for everyone
Sometimes I don't understand the internet.
because Nanomachines Son is the perfect satire of everything wrong with Metal Gear's storytelling in the past (and even in the future with MGSV) and because it's genuinely just funny
What an excellent analysis, thankyou for it!
THERE WILL BE BLOOD
SHED!
Fuck yes my dude. I've never been happier to be a subscriber.
I've always had a fascination with Japanese Culture. I was once forced to work a few times a month for some scary people years ago because I had sticky fingers, but they were good to me. I learned some Japanese and they taught me more about myself than I knew.
I miss them, they're all dead now and this video means the world to me. Sam was always one of my fav characters from MGS, I know it's a spin off but a freaking amazing one. I've been trying to learn how to use a blade again, it's been years, I've been practicing with a staff before I buy a new blade.
Sam was one badass son of a gun, he did so much kick-ass stuff in his life. I wish I was half the man he was, hell I lost my way and wandered away from my honor and ideals. I've been trying to redeem myself since I left rehab and just now found the strength through Yeshua to help others. I've been uploading videos to help others. I don't care if people don't believe me, my truth is my truth. I hope I die an honorable death like Sam one day. But this untreatable cancer will probably take me out.
Thank you again for this video and the peace it gave me tonight. Woke up at 3 pm and found out a woman I loved died, that got me caught up with the Japanese. She fell to liquor and pain pills. So this calmed me and reminded me of the man I once once.

Memories broken
The truth goes unspoken
I’ve even forgotten my name
I don’t know the season
Or what is the reason
I’m standing here holding my blade
A desolate place
Without any trace
It’s only the cold wind I feel
It’s me that I spite
As I stand up and fight
The only thing I know for real
There will be blood-shed
The man in the mirror nods his head
The only one left
Will ride upon the dragon’s back
Because the mountains don’t give back what they take
Oh no
There will be blood-shed
It’s the only thing I’ve ever known
Losing my identity
Wondering have I gone insane
To find the truth in front of me
I must climb this mountain range
Looking downward from this deadly height
And never realizing why I fight
Jesus this amazing video is already 2 years old ☠️😂 absolutely adore this video and your breakdown of Sam
What a miracle a Brazilian character, who is not green and shoots lightning, or a secondary character who barely appears and has no prominence. Because most Americans and other gringos think that all Brazilians are Tarzans who are jumping from tree to tree and Negroes. Or there is only Amazon, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. PS: Kojima has a legion of fans here in Brazil. And when we found out that Sam is Brazilian, we were all proud and started to admire Kojima even more.
Kojima didn’t creat the character tho, he didn't have much to do with MGRR
Its amazing how this game is simple and straightforward but at the same time, full of details and complexities.
Jetstream Sam needs his own spin off.
BRAVO, did not expect a sekiro shadows die twice spoiler in a analysis on jetstream sam, really pushing the boundaries on video development, bravo, i can not stress enough how it really improves your content.
Bro is a jacked dude in armor
ive never been more hyped to watch a meti video than before
“Metal gear rising is a silly game”
Yeah to to hell it is.
Fucking fantastic video! Wish there was more videos on all the characters in MGR:R Because I know all of their songs mean something to their characters.
This is great. The attention to detail and depth in this game is incredible considering it will go unnoticed by many players.
