This is one of the most dense lesson I've watched on UA-cam. I don't mean that negatively. There's so much to work on a chew on and it's all just great stuff. Thanks so much for putting this up.
C, Eb and G walk into a bar. The bartender turns to Eb and says "Get out of here! We don't allow minors in here!" So Eb left and C and G stayed and enjoyed a fifth.
Adrian a tip of my hat to you i have been wanting to use 3rds in southern gospel type and you have so perfectly explained it to me you are a amazing teacher thank you so very much from Texas USA
I want to thank you for this lesson. I had little interest in this genre of music, but found your explanation of 3rds in C to be very helpful. Now I feel like a whole new musical world has opened up.
I had a Telecaster for my 50th birthday. I play mostly indie stuff but I am being drawn irreversibly into the magical sound of a Tele playing country. Great lesson. Thanks
What's funny is I've been playing guitar for 30 years and no training but this really made a ton of sense because even though I know these pairings make sense sound wise I never really understood visually how it works. Very nice video and thank you.
I very much enjoy your videos. You offer very clear instruction. If you ever want to have some fun trivia, what we are calling "country" (traditional 17th 18th century Appalachian folk music played on mandolins, fiddles and acoustic guitars and the likes) is really "country and western" (a jazz fusion coming from Southern California mid 20th century, of which the Telecaster was designed from/for).
Your teaching is the perfect blend of music, theory, technique and tone. Amazing that you cover all the bases and manage to make the material so understandable. I subscribed to you Patreon as a small thank you for al, the work you obviously put in to these videos.
Adrian, thank you for demonstrating the different shapes you’re using with the 3rds. Your explanation of the flat 3rd really clarifies it’s sound and place in country picking. The sound of the Tele, Fender amp and Dynacomp would make Don Rich smile! Thank you sir.
Philip, I'm simply replying to someone (in this case you) on this channel only because for some reason I can't save anything on You Tube unless I get a reply. I'm simply asking if you'd type "ok," or whatever so I can save this lesson on my laptop. It's a great lesson and I want to be able to pull it up and practice it. Thanks!
Wow amazing lesson. Lots to un pack (and practice). It’s taken me forty years to now understand what you’re talking about. Thanks for the lesson. All the best.
Thank you so much for your excellent lessons! I think the reason I love them so much is because you don't just teach us a lick, you also give us the tools to understand what is happening and hopefully be able to apply it elsewhere in our own playing.
Hi Adrian, always a pleasure to watch you play... Love the country licks - such fun to (attempt to) play myself. That's my weekend's practice sorted out then - thanks!
Welcome to the Velvet Underground of guitar channels: it may not be the # 1 channel on UA-cam, but everybody who does subscribe gets good enough to form a band.
Watched this late last night and actually got up early this Sunday morning to get stuck into it. So many phrases that caught my ear as classics that I've always wanted to learn. I've been looking at a lot of country and Rockabilly stuff lately and it's really changing my approach to soloing. It's really amped up my enthusiasm for playing and I bought my first guitar in 1978.
This is prob my all time fav guitar tutorial on youtube. I've watched it MANY times & it has opened up so much of my playing. It's not difficult to digest or understand, and the concepts will genuinely change the way you see & play the guitar. Thank you!
Wow! You are one hell of a teacher. You explain so well. Myxolidian to me meant a minor moon of Alpha Centauri before you came along. Thank you so much! (Plus I LOVE your Tele sound!)
Thank you brother I appreciate that lesson I am pretty accomplished Rock player but now I am taking on country and that was a nice start for me thank you very much
I was already a fan and a patron, but gotta say I was really impressed by this video as a model of concision. So much useful info, starting from a basic point and working up to applications, in an easily understandable manner and without any wasted time.
You are a godsend. Your lessons in both rockabilly and country music genres have been so helpful. Thanks so much! 🤠 Brilliant lesson! Love the sound! Love all your content in all styles of music!
Adrian always provides great lessons and the music theory is always welcome, beginners don't be afraid of it, MT will only make you better and you can choose how far down the rabbit hole you want to go. :)
As always, absolutely amazed by all your videos not only by the knowledge you have but the endless variety you are able to play and teach amazing!!! Simplistic Verbal instruction combined with your master guitar skills. Ability to play any type of music it seems. Just blows the mind. I'm thinking this guy must have taken lessons before birth !!! lol what an amazing gift makes me jealously disgusted, frustrated, depressed and highly inspired all at the same time lol Like how the heck do you know so much and able to play it effortlessly too ??? Must be great feeling!!!
Years ago, when I first started out on guitar and KB and wanted to 'do' solo's... an old jazzer said to me; if you wanna play lead guitar learn it from chords! I thought the old duffer was talking rot... watching a few lessons from the brillant Adrian has taught me that the jazzer was talking a lot of sense! 'Oh, the wasted years!'
Really like how you show these ideas coming out of the chords. Same with your sixths lesson. Great format. Once I get these under my fingers, can find them in any changes!
You easily deserve a Sub! Everything straight forward and in bite sized pieces! Learning Country from a UK Bloke! American Country guys can learn from you!
If you study the song "The Song Remains The Same" in Led Zeppelin's live album (by the same name), Jimmy Page uses that technique all over the place. Go to 3:08 in the song to hear it. He does it super fast with hybrid picking. Same concept.
Adrian, I really enjoy the aplomb you display in your lessons simple and direct, not a superfluous word or a noodle. The right guitar and the right amp. This is a sweet little tune and I'm going to learn it right after I get to work on 'Needle of Death". I saw Bert when he came to Seattle in around '87, nice guy who plays great, we learned "Running From Home" and have been singing it around here for 45 years. Just really excellent performance. God Bless, don't let the meat loaf. Cheers from Port Orchard, Washington!
Really happy to have stumbled upon your stuff here. I dig your playing style and your pedagogy. Keep up the great teaching and I’ll keep right on learnin’.
Thanks for explaining this so well, it was incredibly helpful. The mixo bit was brilliant as I knew the sound but was clueless to where it came from Thanks again Adrian
Thanks Adrian another well thought out lesson short, sweet and melodic - great motivation. Non threatening music theory as well - keep up the good work.
When it comes to country and tele playing this is where I come to
Good lesson. Practicing harmonised scales in 3rds and 6ths never let any guitarist down. Great tone.
I like how you cover both types of music, country, AND western.
And he does all that without wearing a cowboy hat!
Great country tone simply produced. Sometimes less is more.
Can you say blackface tele
No other guitar compares
I think you're the clearest guitar instructor I've come across on UA-cam. Excellent.
best guitar teacher i try i learn i progress

One of the best guitar teachers on UA-cam! Thank you!
C, Eb and G walk into a bar. The bartender turns to Eb and says "Get out of here! We don't allow minors in here!" So Eb left and C and G stayed and enjoyed a fifth.
Lol
The bartender solemnly fingered the minor.
@@mrmotormd No, I meant what I said. C, Eb and G. Eb is the minor third of C.
😂😂😂
That's brilliant 😂😂

One of the best and most concise explanations of using thirds I've seen.

Another gem, your laid back informative style without the ego makes learning more a joy than a task.
Great teacher and not just a great player. Nice to hear the influence of the Blues on Country.

Fantastic solo and fantastic lesson! Exactly my next level. Thank you so much again.
I’m going to use the term “gentle music theory” so much in my teaching now haha
Lol.
And now...for some music theory that will make your head explode
I’ve been playing guitar and watching UA-cam tutorials for yrs yet haven’t come close to one as simplistic and good as yours! Thanks

Best electric guitar tutorials on UA-cam, and as a massive country fan, I’m spoiled here. Thanks for this, Adrian.
Love how you said " in this here video" really getting in to the feel of it. , 😁
It's like on Star Trek TNG when Data starts talking like a cowboy
I think you're lessons are great! I guess I'm not the only one who likes 80s alternative, classic country and rockabilly! Thank you so much.
Hi Adrian, always a pleasure to watch you play... Love the country licks - such fun to (attempt to) play myself. That's my weekend's practice sorted out then - thanks!
The thought you put into these tuts is incredible.
You are one of my top go to guys. Along with Fretjam, Ben Eller, and Stitchmethod
Mate. You've become my go to guy for guitar instruction. You should have a lot more subs.
Welcome to the Velvet Underground of guitar channels: it may not be the # 1 channel on UA-cam, but everybody who does subscribe gets good enough to form a band.
Somehow I learn from this channel but not many others
Agreed. No bullshit just really useful info.
lol. I want to frame that comment.
He’s good! Yeah! He is that GOOD!
👍🇦🇺
Always great work Addy!
Even though I am not a country music fan, I still like this lesson and its music theory!
Absolutely beautiful sound.
You’re an extremely knowledgeable and skilled player. Thank you.
Good video, well presented in a modest manner, very instructive, and it sounds great on the Tele.
I love this guys lessons he’s brilliant
Always a pleasure to listen and learn Adrian. Many thanks and much appreciated.
If only I could hear that coming out of the AM radio of an old pick-up truck!

Stunning guitar tone, perfect on the compression!
This is the lesson I’ve been searching for
We need many more videos on how this stuff works. U do a great job explaining.
Only discovered this site recently. Really glad I did.
“A bit of gentle music theory” -love it
Brilliant lesson as usual, Adrian. Everything clearly explained. Not a second wasted. Excellent!
Among the best guitar instructors here. You deserve a suscriber! Thanks!

In my opinion you are the best guitar teacher on UA-cam... By a long way... It isn't even close.

The chromatic passing licks you’re playing in the solo reminds me so much of Thelonious Monk’s “Blue Monk.”

A whole lot of shades of the sound of a steel guitar. Great lesson, Adrian! Cheers, mate! :)
your a good guitar teacher very comprehensive

Like to see you do something, with a Roy Buchanan flavor. 👍🏼
I’m down in Houston and I’ve never seen my neighborhood covered in snow like that before. It was pretty insane. 🤘
Awesome, awesome lesson. Thank you
Ace lesson as always , cheers Adrian. Could we have a lesson on a chicken picking solo in a please?
Amazing Teacher and that is one beautiful Telecaster looks like a 52 reissue butterscotch how Sweet it sounds too, Peace !
