“It’s been a long time” starts in wrong octave, “oop it doesn’t start there lol” proceeds to play the absolute FUCK outta the song as if he’s played it every single day the last 50 years
I'm impressed by a.) His ability to remember the song flawlessly even though he hadn't played it in a long time and b.) How well-tuned this street piano is!

What's funny is people that don't play the piano most likely think this song would be easy to play because they don't realize the effort and had coordination it takes to play.
My grandma used to play this for me. It was my favorite as I watched her hands glide across the keys and her foot move up and down on the pedals. Thank you for letting me hear this again on piano. I miss her so much.
The Entertainer is quite a hard song to play fast, if you break it down and play it slowly you can then speed up and possibly play like him, The Entertainer is a really hard song to forget to play once when you've played it properly for afew times. Because it takes awhile to actually play it, hence why he was good at it.
Who is this man? I LOVE his rendition of this song! It is by far the best version of this song I've ever heard! I would love to know his name! What a talent! He hadn't played it in years!!!! WOW!
@@steve9575 just rolling it on smooth concrete isn't gonna push it severely out of tune dude... don't act like you know everything. Better for the piano's health to do that than to leave it out in the weather.
It's not a street piano. It's the piano at Coke Corner in Disneyland which is played daily by professional Disney musicians. Johnny Hodge played there for 25 years but is retired now.
Honestly, you pianists are geniuses at what you do with your hands. I, not being a musician, although I have been playing the piano for 27 years now, am trying to learn this song with a well-played score, and I literally go crazy with the number of times that, unfortunately, I end up making mistakes, which is exasperating. But that for me becomes a challenge that I want to achieve. Congratulations on such a fantastic performance. All the best.
If you can discipline yourself to use slower practice tempo repetitions of just the problem measures with a metronome you'll eliminate mistakes sooner with less frustration. Be patient. Your practice mantra should be "practice slower to play faster". How slow? As slow as necessary to play it no errors. 10x perfect then bump up the tempo 1 met notch & repeat until desired tempo acheived. Another impotant thought while you practice: focus on muscle memory - what it feels like to play each rep petfectly, effortlessly. With each slow, cateful rep you are programming your muscles to repeat that result. It will soon be automatic where you don't have to think about it.
This song was playing in my music theory class the first day I entered the room. A young 10 grade student was playing it live. I wanted to marry that girl that day lol
I don’t want to learn or know anything much about piano, but I wish I can play just only this one song my the rest of life. Then play it everywhere I see piano. Lolz
Good syncopation. He's playing it the way Joplin meant for it to be played.
What Joplin wanted doesn’t dictate how people should play it
Elite Syncopation.
Get it?
Putting a phaggy flare on shit isn't what he wanted. That being said his articulation is phenomenal.
Agreed
I mean how do you play it with bad syncopation, without removing the syncopation and making it into a march waltz?
“It’s been a long time” starts in wrong octave, “oop it doesn’t start there lol” proceeds to play the absolute FUCK outta the song as if he’s played it every single day the last 50 years
I think that was the whole joke… because he did play it everyday for 50 years
Yes the performance looked well-practiced. If you play piano and havent play for a while, you remember how fragemented the memory is.
bro went oopsie and played a masterpiece
Not sure you can play it better than that. Superb.
❤
This man understands what ragtime is, what youre supposed to accent and what youre supposed to leave alone, amazing
Exactly! Great player!
He really missed that first note. Then absolutely bodies the rest. Respect

Yeah, unbelievable, the skill involved here.
It's Disney. It's probably tuned by AI or some shit
I bet they have a dedicated team!😂
@@jamiepasquariello2652No, they built a machine back in the 80s that runs off of DOS that still works perfectly.
When I hear this song, I can smell and taste the buttery popcorn, french fries, cotton candy, and ice cream in the air... very timeless master piece..
It's nice to hear it played at the proper tempo, instead of rushed as you often hear it.
Your playing is wonderful.
A liiiittle slower than the actual tempo but I see what you're saying. The guy is like 65 years old so
I just don't like how a lot of music is played as if the musicians are on the run from someone and have to get it done as fast as they can!
🙂
"It is never right to play ragtime fast" - Scott Joplin
Best performance of this i have ever heard hands down.
So wish i cud play it even close to that well.
maybe someday
Tom Lehmann it's not that hard :D just look up some tutorials on youtube, step by step you'll get there :))
I know the first half but playing it with kind of flair is not happening.
Thanks for the advice tho.
Best wishes
This one is not that good, its too slow.
The best performance of this song I have heard was in the movie The Sting but this comes a very close second.
@@hans2695 atleast he knows how to play it :) How about you?

Absolutely incredible. You can tell hes having a good time playing, and this is the best version by far, I heard
He’s really enjoying himself, you can see his arms just flowing around and creating music! Much love ❤️
That piano is in fantastic tune, especially for one that is in a public place with so much traffic.
Wow, Joplin would be proud. This is so fun to watch and listen to. You can just tell how much he's enjoying this. Love it.

I hope the guy playing is alive and well so he can keep Entertaining us
