As a type 1 diabetic tennis player myself, Zverev is at a MASSIVE disadvantage every time he plays. Every change in blood sugar levels negatively affects my mental and physical abilities on the court. I will literally not be able to hit if my blood sugar starts dropping. It sucks! And Im on an automated pod system. The fact Zverev is doing finger sticks and injections during hours long matches and able to play at that level is SUPERHUMAN. No non-diabetic will ever fully understand.
Yeah, he is a Hero honestly. I also have diabetes type 1 and I couldnt believed It when I knew about him having it. I don't play tennis but I surf which is a very demanding and exhausting sport and yeah, It affects me A LOT sometimes reaching dangerous points. I just cannot believe how he manages his Blood sugar not to reach +200 or hypoglycemia, all over 4-5 set matches, just unbelievable. By the way, I root for Alcaraz as I'm spanish but I would be Happy as a diabetic if Zverev wins.

@@juttaweise probably It wasnt an insulin shot (could be, tho)but glucagen (glucagon) which is used to lift your blood sugar to correct an hypoglycemia. Could also be an hyperglycemia due to nervousness or excess of carbs, but I think is less likely in those conditions.

Too strong. He hardly beat Ruud in the sets where he hardly moved. Ruud was acute sick. After crushing Zverev in the first set he suddenly started to struggle. He looked pale and his eyes were showing he didnt feel well. He could hardly move on the court.. He had gotten some stomach virus/food poisening. He wouldnt give up thats why he played through with a lot of pain. He was dizzy and it looked like he was about to faint several times. He was drained of energy. He tried if it helped with some medicines but it didnt. A healthy Ruud would have beaten Zverev as he did last year in the semis.
