The first ex-GF (Olga Sharypova) who accused Zverev of domestic violence gave a detailed account that was corroborated by several witnesses AND she never sought to get any money nor did she want Zverev prosecuted. She just wanted her story to be told about how he treated her and the negative effects it had on her life. So when a second ex-GF tells the same story, it certainly isn't a good look for Zverev, especially when you see how menacing he has acted to officials on the tennis court. It will look even worse if a 3rd woman comes forward claiming domestic abuse. At a minimum, Zverev has a serious anger management problem which he should address and overcome.
Tsitispas and Zverev have the same Achilles heel. Both are shackled to their fathers, unable to divorce themselves. The motif of killing one’s father is not merely Oedipal but a deep part of individuation.
Good enough for being an absolute elite tennis player for years with millions of earnings... there's only ONE number one, not everyone will reach the top of a mountain in tennis!!!
@@hybrid11theory75but their case are similar, both have been n1 prospect at one point, both have been succesfull since young Age and showed competitive mentality, but both are stuck in a loop with their work behind scenes that it's not the most healthy it seems, the same that Ferrero said about Sasha has been said decently by the ex Tsitsipas trainer, that they don't commit fully to the sport, they're not kyrgios level of unprofessionamism ofc, but they are far from Alcaraz-sinner commitment
Off-court controversies aside, I think him and Tsitsipas need real coaches, family is not always a good thing in tennis, they sometimes can actually be detrimental. Other than that, I do have a lot of sympathy for his generation. All talented players but who had the misfortune to be contemporaries with the best players in history, Djokovic, Nadal, Federer and Murray. And after all that, when those guys are either retiring or dropping their level, they get the likes of Alcaraz and Sinner. I am a Medvedev fan but I've always wanted to see the 3 of them and Rublev (I know, I know, cue the QF curse comments incoming) win many Slams but at this stage it doesn't look good for them. Zverev and Medvedev need to get bolder, Tsitsipas doesn't seem like he cares much and Rublev needs some mental help.
Federer and Roddick have been won Masters 1000 titles without being broken. Federer in Cincinatti 2015 I believe is the most recent. It's definitely happened before
Great vid. I would really like to see a deep analysis on Medvedev, how he was on the high in 2023 vs trophy-less 2024 (so far). I find him fascinating, and yet very human
I mean, 2023 was a weird year for him in the sense that he collected most of his points during the first half of the season, while it's usually otherwise. Thoughout most of Medvedev's career he's had a mediocre first half of the year and an amazing second half, and I wouldn't be surprised if we see that again this year.
It’s fun to watch him play and he hits missiles on his serves and stokes, watching him in Miami vs dimitrov but it was mental, third favorite to watch, behind dimitrov and sinner.
First video of yours I’ve seen, and it is very good. Just subscribed. As a player, I think very highly of Sasha. I think he’s one of the best players in the world and has the potential to get to #1 every now and then if he starts winning slams, which in my view, if he can get over all of the times he’s come so close, but lose, he inevitably will eventually. As a human being, I disliked him long before I knew about the spousal/girlfriend abuse accusations because I saw him lose it to such an extent at umpires and others at these events. I have a feeling that the diabetes contributes to this too, because there’s no question it can impact your mood if your blood sugar is too high or too low. But at the end of the day, that still doesn’t excuse it. So, overall, regardless of what happened with the abuse case, I don’t like him much. But I do respect his game.
Totally needs to grow beyond his father. Watching him sometimes feels like watching a junior match. The constant appeals to his stand. He's not alone, of course. A trend I wish would end.
@@tijgertjekonijnwordopgegeten Zverev hasn’t won anything? Uh, I believe he’s got a lot of accomplishments with the exception of slams. More than any other player on the tour right now. He definitely has a bump to get over in the slams department, but don’t make out like “hasn’t won anything”. In fact, he was beating top five players in Masters events and ATP Finals and the Olympics before on court coaching was allowed. Come down off your high horse. What if Alcaraz doesn’t want to be your bf anymore? Then, what are you gonna do?
I am fascinated with this channel, it is a real analysis of the player, describing in a very constructive way. Thank you very much Noha, also thank you to the subscribers for the comments, I learn a lot participating in this chat🎾
He is such a problematic individual to be honest not his fan. But yeah I don’t think he can now go over the mental block of losing two grand slams final in the way he did.
He's still strong. When Djoker is gone, will there be a big 2 or 3 with Alcaraz, Sinner, and maybe Meddy? Will somebody else step in? Because if the ones at the top falter, he could get lucky.
@@nathanshlap I don’t know but it doesn’t have to be big 3. Currently Alacaraz and Sinner are above any other players and Djokovic doesn’t look like he will play for very long.
@@unishea1649 But even in the big three era, guys like Thiem and Wawrinka snuck some in. I don't think Alcaraz or Sinner have the health or mentality to sweep the grand slams
@@nathanshlap There obviously is a chance that he can get them. He definitely isn’t getting any younger. And honestly how strong Alacaraz and Sinner are mentally and physically we will come to know in 2-3 years. Don’t you think Medvedev is a better player than him even if you leave them both?
The biggest issue for me throughout the whole ordeal is that Zverev has not once condemned DV in any way. He could certainly have maintained his claim of innocence while also denouncing abuse and treating it as a serious issue.
@@chuckfriebe843 Condemning domestic violence isn't turning someone into a politician or asking them to be one - it's about having a moral obligation to speak up against any kind of violence. Sasha is an athlete people and kids look up to for his success, mental toughness (questionable), and inspiration he gives off the court (incredibly questionable).
Ultimately, anyone in his position will be subject to scrutiny, as are the remainder of the top players in both tours. Everyone is different, and I remember something that Andy Roddick said in an interview: imagine having a bad day at work, and cameras being there. His behaviour on court is at times indefensible, but not unheard of and isn’t anything we haven’t seen with other players, and can be interpreted as him showing his passion. I respect him as a consistently high level tennis player, and for what he has to deal with on a medical level. However, I feel uncomfortable supporting him because of these allegations. That isn’t me disbelieving the justice system, just from a morality standpoint for me that I can’t cheer for anyone with even a faint question mark around something like domestic violence, especially when it’s come from two women separately. I respect him for what he’s done on the court, but at a distance.
As a player, he's great, but chokes in slams. As a person, you gotta admire his doggedness (pro athlete with diabetes, coming back from career threatening injuries, etc.), but he definitely has demons.
honestly - she seems to be regressing, these days the ebst she can do is 500 event and goes out to less accomplished players in slams but then beats Iga
Personally, his terrible behavior towards umpires, players or staff in general is what made me dislike this player. I also find him pretty boring to watch. He litterally has one game plan and has 0 variety to his game...
@@romaintagliaferro3189Actually its you who doesn't understand the settlement. The case was dropped by the prosecution due to a lack of evidence and Zverev had to pay court costs since he was the one who decided to go to trial to clear his name. The woman got no money and Zverev's been determined to be not guilty. No court will declare innocence and we have a system of being innocent until proven guilty so he's effectively innocent.
@@romaintagliaferro3189 The evidence is pretty overwhelming and it was clear an agreement was reached to save face for both parties.(Although one was from the perspective of a battered woman)
I agree that his playing style is boring and he obviously had his scandal destroying his racket on the umpires chair. But I honestly feel like he’s always a great sportsman and definitely treats his staff and fellow players great or definitely not worse than any other tour player
He seemingly wasnt far off in the RG final, but Alcaraz is just more clutch and a better finisher. I also thought his volleys were often weak and Carlos punished him. The thing with players like Carlos, Rafa, Nole etc is they find an extra gear to win. I feel Zverev, and indeed Sinner atm, kind of lack that atm.
Gotta say, it's alarming how tennis fans use the situation to make cheap jokes about abuse (any reference with hitting, choking, ...). And it's alarming that so few people value the principal of innocent until proven guilty. That's like one of the most fundamental backbones of a society. Imagine ruining someones life for a cheap joke on the off-chance that you are wrong. Also, so many people got the "dropping the case/settlement" part wrong. Zverev didn't settle in the sense that he paid Patea money (she didn't get any). Patea wanted the charges dropped after day 3 of trials after evidence against her was brought up, to keep face. It's normal in Germany that the one initiating the trial (Zverev) has to pay some money to the court to compensate the public for not having a verdict. All charges are dropped, including the initial penal order, meaning he's officially innocent and can't be prosecuted for this alleged crime ever again. I'm all for believing alleged victims when they first come out, but when it turns out there's nothing to their story, you should refrain from calling people abuser. And no, smahsing your racket doesn't make you an abuser. It's mad how people jump to that conclusion.
That's what I said above. If Djokovic hits a lines person in the face with the ball, which he did, does that make him a domestic abuser? Of course not! These people are typical today's social justice warriors. They want to convict people in the court of public opinion.
On the note about winning tournaments without being broken, I think Fed did so at Cinci in 2012 and maybe a few more M1000s, but on clay that's titanic
I think that's a fair treatment of his legal case. Appreciate you looking at all the sides of the issue. I'm no Zverev fan (don't like his game or his attitude), but he is definitely innocent until proven guilty. Suspending a player for mere allegations sets a very bad precedent.
@@JameSongMaker That's not how it works. The spokesperson said that we don't know what happend. But: Patea withdrew all charges after day 3 of trials because evidence against her was brought up. With this, all allegations against Zverev, including the penal order that started the trial, are annihilated. He can't ever again be prosecuted for this alleged crime, and thus being presumed innocent and should be treated as such.
He hang dogged the match away with Alcaraz at the French. No fire, no killer instinct. And you are right about his front running ability. It's terrible. I was such a fan and very proud of his recovery after the fall against Rafa. But after watching the match against Alcaraz in the final of the French, I have changed my tune and my being a fan again is in great jeopardy.
Olga's allegations (which are corroborated by multiple witnesses) are extremely damning. For me, it's impossible to support someone on court who is a monster behind the scenes.

Wasn’t Zverev never even found innocent in his domestic abuse case? He settled it outside of court and paid like 200,000 in fines. I remember people stating that he did it to avoid the verdict and so it would keep Olya and their son out of the spotlight. If he was truly innocent wouldn’t he go through with it to prove that he is innocent?
First of, what he has to deal with in his personal life is his personal life. Respect some privacy. Second, you should get your facts checked bc what you're assuming is totally wrong and out of context. If you would've actually investigated this case with care you would've known that Zverev hasn't paid any money to this girl, it was paid for a good cause to close the case... both parties have agreed to close the case in a respectful manner out of court. END!
@@hybrid11theory75 well that’s why I asked it as a question because I admittedly don’t know the entire full story outside of a New York Times article. 1. First of all Domestic abuse is a serious case and if he was found guilty he should have been held accountable for it both by the ATP and by the general public 2. His ex girlfriend stated from the get go that she didn’t want to take all of his money or even have him convicted of anything, just wanted to make sure that she was heard. Ofc you can argue why it was even taken to court in the first place but I think the answer to that would be to prove that she actually had evidence and she wasn’t just trying to ruin his life. That makes sense why it was settled out of court anyway instead of waiting for a verdict. Oh and I also started that he was simply fined 200,000 euros, I didn’t even state whom too because I wasn’t exactly sure.
@@rundlet1658 It's still his private life. Respect it! You guys are more interested in such stories than his actual tennis career, that's obscure. Wrong! He was supposed to pay a fine and appealed the decision and chose to go to trial. In the court of law, the plaintiff dropped the case because they couldn't produce evidence to convict him. The case was dropped because of that. He paid court fees.
@@rundlet1658 Patea withdrew all charges after day 3 of the trials because evidence against her was brought up. She asked for the trial to be stopped. She didn't receive any money, the money goes to court, which is normal in Germany because Zverev was the one who initiated the trial. He could have gone through with the trial and wouldn't have had to pay anything, but didn't do so in favor of their child. 200.000 Euro isn't really much for him, seeing that his price money this year alone is 4.5 Mio. already. He's innocent in the sense that he's not convicted and in fact can't ever again be trialed for this alleged offense, so he is assumed innocent and should be treated as such.
Glad to hear case closed . Not convinced of what happened but for their child.. it’s important to have respect and involvement of both parents. Hope we can all move on. Sasha has overcome lots of problems… wishing him all the best.
1st of all the German legal system is one of the best in the world and most certainly better than the US‘. Secondly, what would need to happen for y’all to consider him innocent now? @@deusexmachina9776 nah🤭🤭🤭 you have too much of a high hope for him. Zerev is a great player but unable to perform when it matters. 2 GS Finals in 10 years of professional career. Look at Sinnner, Mev, Alcaraz already GS winners with more Final appearances than Zerev even Rudd got more finals. Zerev remind me of Thomas Berdych but less likeable and more arrogant. 😩
Zverev's problems are purely mental. Blaming the holes or lack of evolution in his game would make sense if he was already winning slams and got 'figured out' or if he stopped winning titles outside slams for the same reason. Well it is only up to him, goodluck to him tho. He was great to watch in the early 2020s.
Why would that only make sense if he already started winning slams and got figured out? If you're never even winning slams in the first place wouldn't that be better evidence that the holes in his game are at fault? There are many players who are incapable of winning a slam (or even becoming a top 5 player) because they have holes in their game, just look at Rublev. Sinner is also a good example, because he used to be very similar to Rublev, but now that he has evolved his game and fixed the holes he's the best player in the world.
@@tijgertjekonijnwordopgegeten another example is Osaka, her power and serve work so beautifully on hard courts. yet she doesnt win on grass or clay because the bounce of the ball is not the same. to win on those surfaces players need movement, slices, dropshots, netplay. skills which she doesnt not have. The presumption of innocence is one of the most basic principles by which modern society operates. A person is innocent until proven otherwise, I am truly surprised how few people understand this. And I tend to trust the German judicial system
Doesn't mean that a person can't be guilty when there's no evidence. They can't be penalized on any ground, but they can still be guilty of a crime. Just saying.

I am sorry but as Person from germany who does study law here you should probably Think about the last Part and wether you wanna keep that stuff in. While you did try to explain the German court system it is a fact that if the case is dropped and you didn’t receive an official sentence stating you are guilty or you admitted to it then you are officially innocent. Saying that he is not officially innocent may even result in charges against as it would be a case of so called bad speech which is indeed punishable in Germany. So yeah Sasha is indeed officially innocent. The settlement payments are his cause he went to court und settled with the opposition during the trial. If they agreed that it’s his to take then it is what is, but it won’t change the fact that he is officially innocent!
What is more important is that every media news should mention the concept of justice across the world...sacha must be allowed to speak that he is innocent...that is his freedom of speech ..and no one in the world has right to defame zevrev in media ..zevrev has all the legal grounds to file defamation case against anyone who will accuse him for bad conduct in personal life ncluding ATP because no court in the world has found him guilty..zevrev is innocent until proven guilty...

Sascha should have been next Federer marketing wise with the way he speaks, looks and etc. With his career start, Big 3 support, it was no brainer back then. People give zvereve to much hate when there are many other players who do worse. Zvereve will always be my favorite player and will always be the atp golden boy
They all talk about themselves! They have to. Tennis journalists and blowhards want them to do that; it’s demanded of them in every single interview on court, after a match, press conferences, print and online interviews.
Since 2000, only three players have won their first major after age 26, Ivanisevic (29), Wrawinka (28), and Thiem (27). And it's gotten increasingly younger. I think his time has past, he should have won the French two years ago at 25 but fate dealt him a bad hand.

Amazing video. I don't like Zverev, but he dies not have to be proven innocent. He is innocent until proven guilty. The fact that she did not receive anything and he got joint custody speaks volume. Leave the guy alone. ATP is not a court of justice, they should not do anything about it. Finally, former girlfriends of pro athletes have huge incentive to accuse like this. Not saying she lied, but it is clearly a possibility
I have been saying this since that us open 2020 but for me zverev will never win a slam ! I know as explained in this very good video that he has improved a lot ( serve especially ) but under huge pressure he always fails to win ! he doesnt have that killer instinct ! like he is too passive when he is stress and never never wins those tight matches in late stages of slams!
I just don't like Zverev's game. As you said, he's passive and doesn't take risks; he's a glorified pusher. But my main critique is this: Alexander Zverev is one of the most boring players on tour. I avoid his matches because his style makes his opponents boring, too. I literally can't remember a match involving Zverev that was interesting. He's a black hole for inspiration. (I'm going to skip over the domestic abuse allegations because I have almost no faith in western legal system to justly address this issue. Rich men routinely escape consequences.)
Thanks, the us open final vs thiem it's a proof of that, theres something on his game that it's effective for sure, but annoying and boring to watch, specially his fh, and not a Big fan of his old man grunt either
Im not gonna get into his DV case because it’s not that related to tennis, but on court, he’s a weird one. He just doesn’t get the job done in the grand slams, yet we see in other tournaments that he’s good.
It seems that no one likes Zverev I don't like the way he plays he doesn't have much He's an excellent player as a continuity but with Sinner and Cheraz I doubt he's going to get something big
I found the allegations extremely credible and I think he’s a menace. His arrogance is grotesque. The fact he said he never wanted to hear about the charges again because he’d been exonerated in Berlin when he hadn’t been, at all, sort of suggests he’s hoping no one will do a deep dive into the German legal system which is what I was hoping this video would be. Sporting bodies need to police the behaviour of star athletes and tennis has failed spectacularly in this regard.
I still think there isn’t anyone that wants to play Zverev he poses a threat to everyone he’s beaten everyone which maybe only Carlos and sinner can say.
I'll tell you what he didn't do. He didn't hit a lines person in the face with a tennis ball and get defaulted from a Grand Slam event. Let's see, who did that? Even if we were to look at this years results they are very good but they aren't exceptional. I think the real funny thing are your excuses stating that it was a very tough draw, but my favorite excuse was where you listed very cold conditions. Though admirable that he's made multiple SF's, going by results and the fact that he folds under pressure, I honestly don't think he'll ever win a slam.

I do agree with this. Somebody like Becker could push Sascha over the line to win a Slam.

I hope the trial for Zverev could start already and we can see if he's guilty or not. Something is not right obviously, why is it taking so long!!!!

So interesting how it’s the exact same issue with Tsitispas
He and Tsitsipas would probably play better in tougher matches if their dads didn't coach them.

@@mvdqp So, all the players should do it?
Dunno, wouldn't that just look hypocritical? Like at least he's not being a hypocrite.
I appreciate how you have clearly worded your thoughts. I agree and disagree with your opinion, but the way you have written them is very good.
As a player, he's great, but chokes in slams. As a person, you gotta admire his doggedness (pro athlete with diabetes, coming back from career threatening injuries, etc.), but he definitely has demons.

Good video man very well handled
His attitude and demeanor has changed for the better since his ankle injury.
Great comment, amen.
Thank you for having common sense.

2. He might be gambling against himself. Odds for him to lose when he is 2 sets up is usually as high 7x
Rich men escape everything everywhere. There is no law for the millions.
Im not gonna get into his DV case because it’s not that related to tennis, but on court, he’s a weird one. He just doesn’t get the job done in the grand slams, yet we see in other tournaments that he’s good.
...and After the upload of this Video, Zverev choke again against Fritz with 2 Set advantage at Wimbledon 4th Round.
He’ll be so disappointed. All his grand slam losses this year have been from winning positions. Either 2-sets to-love or 2-1.
@@Courtside_Tennis he should train more his mental focus or something else. He HAS the quality to win at least a Slam.
I trust Sasha to win a GS. He has the game for it...
He's just too unidimensional. It's really boring to watch a lot of the times.
Honestly the greatest player to have never won a slam
It seems that no one likes Zverev I don't like the way he plays he doesn't have much He's an excellent player as a continuity but with Sinner and Cheraz I doubt he's going to get something big
I question the German legal system, look what happened to Monica Seles.
So, if Djokovic did that, he must be a domestic abuser as well, if I understand all the comments on here correctly, right? One thing does not prove another thing, unless there is SUFFICIENT EVIDENCE in a court of law. That's why we have a legal system.
I don't see him winning a slam. He's not able to stay consistent

Sorry that it's skewed as it doesn't copy and paste perfectly. But reading left to right, you can see how he's done in each tournament starting in 2014, he's played for 10 years. I see 2 finals, US Open 2020 where he threw away a 2-0 set lead to Dominic Thiem (let me guess, it was the because of a bad call by the umpire excuse). And as we know he lost to Alcaraz at the French Open being up 2 sets to 1. So that would be why, as I go by his results in the slams as we are talking about whether he can win a slam. It really doesn't matter how he does in the other tournaments that are all out of 3 sets. But if we do look at the results you put down for this year, I have to say that I love the excuses about it being a very tough draw, or my absolute favorite was very cold conditions (as if no one else was affected by these conditions. And yes this years results have been quite good, but far from exceptional. But again, when making a prediction on whether or not he can win a slam title, the only tournaments that matter are in fact the slam tournaments
@@fred3r1k ok, I'm not sure where my response to you went, so am going to post it again

Unfortunately, the years are skewed and don't line up, but you can read left to right to see the place that he got each tournament from 2014 to 2024. I see two finals out of all those times. The one we just saw with Alcaraz where he was up 2 sets to 1. And then he was up 2 sets to nothing and blew that to Dominic Thiem at the 2020 US open (let me guess the referee made him lose the match excuse). So maybe the better way of putting it is that he folds under pressure. Now you present what he's done this year. The first problem is that we are talking about whether or not he can win a slam, and therefore the only matches that truly matter are the slam ones as they are the best of 5 sets. Even if we were to look at this years results they are very good but they aren't exceptional. I think the real funny thing are your excuses stating that it was a very tough draw, but my favorite excuse was where you listed very cold conditions. Um isn't the opponent also dealing with this very cold condition, or is Zverev wearing an ice pack during the match. In the end, one just needs to look at his record in the slams. Though admirable that he's made multiple SF's, going by results and the fact that he folds under pressure, I honestly don't think he'll ever win a slam. Doesn't mean I'm right, we won't know that until he retires, but I don't see it happening
Do Karen Khachanov
Its the collective prayers of all DV victims and women in general, that stops Zverev from winning big.
Predictable, boring, passive, unlikeable, inept at most things that make tennis fun (touch, net play). I am glad this is not enough to win slams
Hater
He haven’t beat big 3 in GS apart from Nadal this year 😂😂😂
how you find this funny?
Maybe if he played a grand slam final against a woman, he'd beat her.
can you shut up?
I think if he spent more time putting his hands on his racquet rather than his spouse he’d be a great player. Rooting for him!

Patea withdrew all charges after day 3 of trials because evidence against her was brought up. What exactly is your belief there?
Really if he doesn't win a slam now he'll never win a slam. He would've done better against Sinner than Fritz to be honest
Who is Sasha?
Is Alexander Sasha Zverev
Like his past coach and current Alcarez current coach says he is not a nice person and lack disciplined .
Zverev needs to stop being angry about life, he needs a sport psichologist like many of the players have, independently from his coach
Innocent until proven guilty. We don’t know if it’s true or not. The law is innocent until proven guilty. Not guilty cos I don’t like the things he does on a tennis court so he’s probably guilty.
After the 86 mile serve i lost hope on him😅
