  • The one important key is to build the most consistently sustainable routine for you to achieve your double bass goals. Because double bass is very physically demanding.

    Bleed is an interesting case because what is happening for your feet is actually just an alternative of a common exercise for your hands. Guitars don't have that.

    • @PurpleBled
      @PurpleBled 9 місяців тому +1

      Except we do lmao, take a legato exercise with your left and instead play with your right hand tapping, wow now it’s a new limb doing the common exercise.

    • @PurpleBled
      @PurpleBled 9 місяців тому

      Like yeah you can’t use your feet to play guitar but there are so many different fundamental ways to play that it’s strange to act like you can’t play the same exercise with different techniques or positions or limbs. You can play Hertas with a pick or your fingers…

    • @aaavellone
      @aaavellone 9 місяців тому

      @@PurpleBled what I was talking about is things drummers regularly do. What you're talking about is something guitar players do not normally do, and by a long shot. It's creative and one of many ways to accomplish the objective but it isn't regular at all, which is the point.

    I'm going to try this. Right now I play it like a paradiddle which is more balanced out starting on opposite sides Heal-toe then left right, Then opposite heal-toe right left. Not only is it balanced out but it will help you with heal toe speed. Basically it's a Foot paradiddle.

    Great advice near the end, kinda feel like you sped through that warning though, and it was a very important warning for those serious about learning how to play this song. To play certain rhythms you aren’t used to playing, just learning how to think and count differently isn’t always enough, new muscle groups might need to be developed over time, and pushing it can cost you hours upon hours or even years of progress if you injure yourself badly enough, and at the very least, you might “plateau” and not understand why.

    How frequently should I take breaks? I was always under the impression that more practice = better, but should I not be playing every day?

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ
      @ArtOfDrummingHQ  Рік тому

      It's different for everyone. Yes you can practice everyday. But if your leg muscles cannot take it, say they're experiencing too much fatigue without being allowed to rest therefore repair and grow. They won't get stronger and sometimes it leads to injury when people overdo it. On the other hand if there is too little fatigue and consistency required for the goal, then also no growth. What's your current routine like for your legs every week? Also are you Improving at the rate you want to? My current routine is 5 days of leg practice, 2 days of rest.

    • @Nigel-nv3lr
      @Nigel-nv3lr Рік тому

      @@ArtOfDrummingHQ I'm a single pedal drummer for now, but I'm still trying to get my right leg/foot faster. Currently, I practice leg and foot exercises about 4-6 days a week. I feel like I'm not improving at the rate I want to, but that could just be me not having enough patience. My goal is to play eighth notes at 160 bpm, rn I can do about 120/130, which is better than where I was but I think I should be further ahead after ~3 months of working on it

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ
      @ArtOfDrummingHQ  Рік тому +1

      You hit the reason on the head already. Patience. I don't like to attach time frames to my goals. I like to attach execution. So for example instead of 3 months I expect to be 160bpm. Say I will do 50 practice sessions and then assess where I'm at.
      That helps you to be patient, avoid rushing and practicing unoptimally, get over frustrated and disappointed. Some of them is always healthy but too much slows anyone down or worse forces them to give up even though they want it a lot.
