Caffeine does nothing but increase susceptibility to my stress and anxiety.
Most of my worst anxiety attacks were after consuming two or three cups of coffee. I'm way to sensitive to caffeine.

What you said in this video makes perfect sense.
I had a panic attack earlier because I drank a coffee whilst cycling along my local cycle path, then I got stopped by a woman in a kiosk who was asking me to sign up for a charity. As soon as she started speaking to me the panic attack started (I already have social anxiety, coffee makes it far worse). I just wanted to carry on cycling, but she had started a conversation, and it feels rude to ignore her. So I stopped and spoke to her for 15 mins. The panic attack went on for about ten mins, then it started to dissipate. I was certain that she could notice that I was having a panic attack, which made it worse. It was like I couldn't breathe or talk properly, and I just wanted to escape the situation. The last five minutes were much easier as the panic had begun to fade away.
If the exact same situation happened, without coffee, then I would have felt a bit shy and uneasy speaking to her, but would not have had a panic attack. My anxiety rating with coffee was about 7 out of ten, without coffee it would have been more like 2 or maybe 3 out of ten.
Things that seem to work REALLY well for me to beat SOCIAL ANXIETY and ANXIETY, IN GENERAL, are being caffeine-free, having a healthy sleep pattern, a healthy diet, regular exercise (cycling works for me), sunlight exposure, and remaining 100% sober. (In the past I've drunk and used various drugs such as cocaine and ecstasy which exacerbate anxiety by 100%! I would seriously not suggest using stimulant drugs and/or alcohol if you are prone to anxiety/depression). And also, one of THE BEST THINGS is NOFAP (I won't go into details, I'm sure most people know what NOFAP is).
With all of these things combined, my anxiety seems to completely disappear, and that's no exaggeration! I have most of them in order at the moment, aside from the NOFAP and caffeine consumption, but as of today's panic attack, I will now get these final two bad habits in order.
Sorry for the essay, I think it helps to be brutally honest and to share and learn from people's experiences. That way we can evolve and better ourselves.
Anxiety can be overcome, and that's a fact. It's simply about eliminating our bad habits! UA-cam is a great platform for advice when it comes to anxiety and mental illness (if used correctly).
All the best, kind regards, Damos Marcellos Bervoets, ciao.

Entrepreneur it makes my body shake and feel fidgety. It also raises my heart beat and it just causes me anxiety and the only good part about coffee is the fact that it tastes wonderful, and that it makes me awake when I wake up. I always feel tired in the mornings and I always feel kinda emotionless. So, coffee makes me overall happy and positive and ready to move. I will be depressed all day when I wake up unhappy (which is like everyday)

I’m on a month with no caffeine of any sorts... chocolate, coffee or soda. I suffer from sever anxiety and panic disorder and this has helped me get a better sleep at night. I fall asleep much quicker and stay asleep longer. I actually get up earlier as well. Before I quit caffeine I would drink a Starbucks coffee at 12pm and be up tell 3 am in the morning with high levels of anxiety and panic attacks. I’m not going to say is completely go rid of my anxiety but it most certainly helped a lot! Short story: I was coming home on a plane from visiting my mother in California. I drank two cups of Starbucks coffee at 8 am, and didn’t eat anything. My left eye didn’t stop twitching tell the next day.

The mental alertness which is induced by the caffeine in coffee is enhanced with the addition of CBDa, but also there is a great reduction of the irritable side-effects like anxiety and the jitters that is associated with caffeine that many people experience.
This is the reason why CBDa & Caffeine infused together make a great combination for promoting alertness, focus, energy & productivity without the side-effects like the jitters or caffeine sensitivity. It is also great for alleviating inflammation & pain etc.

Caffeine addiction has been a breakthrough for me going at panic attacks. I've been working since I was 13, now 25. As long as I can remember I drank coffee and lately it has been 5-6 cups per day. Panic attack got worse the past few years but two weeks ago I decided to quit coffee. Not cold turkey, because the headache will kill me (seriously, it's not a joke that headache) but I'm now on half the coffee daily, and my body is so much calmer. Some people might know the 'here-we-go-again' feeling, that has been a lot less now. I'm planning to be completely coffee free in two weeks (two cups this week, one cup next week, and the week after that none) and I'm looking forward to it :)

I get worst anxiety from coffee, i actually got some really bad panick attacks from coffee, im a med student and i study very much at night so i need coffee. I actually think my first panick attacks were triggerd because of palpitations from too much coffee and then i got anxiety from fear of panick attacks. I still drink coffee but very weak and only in the morning because my anxiety fucks my sleep really bad, i feel like i dont rest very well, and i think i dont have dreams anymore wich indicates i dont have a deep sleep probably because of the high adrenaline rush in my body from the anxiety. I usually drink coffee when im alone cuz im scared to not get a panic attack when im with someone cuz i ger really ashamed when i feel so needy and sick.

Today I had a big cup of coffee and after two hours per say I thought I was about to have a heart attack. My heart rates were going up and the scary thing was I had a smart watch and I was watching my rates go up fast while sitting and doing nothing. I felt a lil bit of pain in my chest and my asthma was triggered which freaked the hell out of me!!! I was away from home at the time and had to drive back in case something happened and while driving (I know it was a bad decision to drive) and as I got close to home my dizzy spells kicked in and had to stop til things cooled down.
Btw, I have been diagnosed with anxiety a year ago and have been off caffeine ever since. Guess I will never drink anything with caffeine (I did today cuz I thought I could hnadle it and I used to be a coffee freak). Anxiety is not to be taken lightly, the symptoms are frightening.

Personally, I would agree. I love coffee and pre-workouts and anything heavy in stimulants, but I pay a high price for that. I let it get to the point where I needed around 800mg in a serving to get a noticeable reaction. There's no question in my mind that it has worsened my anxiety and OCD, and so I've recently been cutting out all the "random" caffeine. No more morning cups of coffee or social cups of coffee, etc. Just 200mg before training, and even that may change soon.

Once a drank a mid-size cup of Starbucks. About an 1 hour later, I got an anxiety attack while on the freeway driving my dad's car. It got so bad I almost threw up in a car that wasn't mine, in the middle of rush hour, with my crush right next to me. WORST DAY OF MY LIFE EVER!

dopamine depletion, dopamine tolerance adrenal overstimulation and fucked up adenosine receptors. chech your sleep quality, just give up for 2-3 weeks and use sulbutiamine + NAC 600 3 times a day titrate it up to 3600 3 times a day and you are a new born baby again start your coffee from there. memantine will be better for dopamine tolerance btw if you can achieve it.

Caffeine worsens my anxiety by A LOT. I'm so sensitive to caffeine that I can't even have decaf. It's crazy! I feel that it really messes with my mind, my brain function, that I can't control my thoughts or calm down when I have caffeine in my system. I learned the hard way :( although I'm glad I realized that it is the main cause of me experiencing anxiety at its worst, it's good to know that I'm not crazy after all 😂caffeine is to blame.

I have heard of people having withdrawal symptoms from caffeine for up to 5 months (some weeks are okay, some weeks are bad). If you are within that 5 month period of quitting and happen to have an anxiety attack, it is probably how your body is reacting to withdrawal. Attempting to quit soon for the 3rd time..

I don’t suffer from Anxiety but I have noticed that I am sensitive to caffeine. Almost every time I have caffeine I feel a large amount of anxiety fill my body and it sucks. The best example I can give on how it feels for me is when I’m watching a scary movie and I know something bad is about to happen or something is going to jump at the screen and scare me. I feel this for a few hours usually until it slowly dissipates. Not sure why this happens but definitely not a fun experience.

Thank you so much. I have been looking for a video and a channel like this one to help me get through my anxiety attacks.
Personally, caffeine does me no good at all. I drink barely any decaf and I even cut out things like chocolate that sometimes trigger anxiety too. Most times, if I do have caffeine, I pay the price later in the day (or at night) when I cannot concentrate and feel awfully nauseated. Those of you who can still have your coffee, I worship you and I don't know how you do it.
Also, I just wanted to say that your videos are SO Canadian. ;) And, as a fun fact, that Tim Hortons does not make any of their specialty coffees (like mokas and cappuccinos and whatnot) decaf. Which frustrates me, because I love Tim Hortons.

When I drink coffee at night, I end up doing things until about 3 in the morning simply because I do not feel tired.
When I drink coffee in the morning/mid day, I feel incredibly anxious and as I already have anxiety (quite a bad case actually, I flex my abdomen almost all the time, I clench my fists when walking, I flex my calves while walking, I just look anxious, people will even tell me), but when I do drink coffee I feel very nervous for no reason. I anticipate all of my moves. For example in class I needed a stapler so I mentally prepared to grab the stapler, for whatever reason, I felt like all eyes were on me and I rushed back to my desk looking down. This is under the effects of caffeine by the way. Even when I drink a coffee after school to work on homework, I simply can't focus, I feel like throwing up and I end up going outside and doing some physical activities like riding something with wheels does not matter what it is. Overall I only drink coffee for the taste and not the energy boost but for some reason the effects are extreme and not at all mild. With every pulse I feel in my chest it feels like my heart is preparing to fall into my intestines.

I had to give up coffee. I drank it for 4 years daily. got to a point (before I developed anxiety) where I was drinking two double shots on top of my regular cup. that lasted 2 days until I had my very first panic attack. ever since that initial panic attack I have had anxiety. it was very very debilitating in the begining. I tried zoloft which landed to me in the hospital. then tried therapy. which helped tried all natural ways vitamins and supplements don't know if that helped. and now I just do nothing. I get anxiety many once a month or once every other month. but needless to say I no longer drink coffee and feel SO MUCH BETTER. I wake up in the morning and feel ok. I am finally to a point where I can drink a soda and not have anxiety from it.

Perhaps I'm going to be the anomaly for your 11,000 focus group (and for that, I apologise) but coffee actually stops me feeling as anxious.
I think it may be ritualistic. If I know I have a massive amount of work to do or stressful meetings, I have a coffee when I first get to my office and it gives me five minutes to just think about the day and what is to come. After that five minutes I start to feel the caffeine buzz and that gives me enough to rise to the challenges.
Perhaps this is because us Brits are big tea drinkers (I do not partake) that drinking coffee has become associated with my working life/career.
In answer to your question, coffee does not make me feel less anxious, but it certainly does not make me feel more so.

SydneyKav thanks for sharing. When I was a Taxi Driver I had to drive 12 hour shifts 6 days a week. One mistake and you're dead! Or someone else is.
Consuming caffeine was a no brainer. Eventually I suspect that my body shifted to being AWAKE no matter how tired I was.
If you DO change jobs or no longer need caffeine to survive, literally, don't let it become a permanent friend.
There will be times when that culprit, caffeine, might blind you to the cause of anxiety. It is easy enough to blame something else, especially with the positive associations we form with the drug.
Coffee is great! Cheap, plentiful, etc.
Just keep a cautious eye on it. Especially if you notice symptoms like increased heart rate, darker urine, and irritability.
I hope your hard work pays off...cheers!

Usually I wake up 640, fix breakfast, and leave to school 715. Usually come home 240, and go to work at 330. Come home 840 and do homework till 10 ish.
The point is, is that I was dependant on coffee for the first month, constantly moving around and getting some serious rings. So naturally, I turned to caffeine. However I began crashing slowly, because it somehow takes me longer to metabolize caffeine. Being alert is great, however the feeling of anxiety was worsening.
After quitting coffee, it's improved my quality of sleep, however it's a bit harder to finish homework, but it's still getting done. Rings went away though.

I also could not focus on my studies which are very important to me. So I continue to drink it. However, I only drink small single or double shots of espresso once or twice per day, which actually haa less caffeine than a normal cup of coffee. I now have immeasurable amounts of Barium in my vital organs (including brain) which is detectable ONLY by a reputable hair sample laboratory. The effects are reversible by chelation. The symptoms of heavy metal poisoning are respiratory complications, high anxiety, panic attacks, anaphylactic type seizures, cardiac arrest, brain fog and impaired vision- these are my experiences with the exception of cardiac arrest. When my system goes into a sleepy, crashing out state. I use coffee to improve my mental and physical alertness- this is a means to an end.

Ok I suffer from OCD and anxiety for 5 years. Prior anxiety ocd I loved coffee and I still love it. I cut it out and anxiety ocd was still there. Sometimes even worse due to my current stressful situation of nursing school. I decided I will introduce coffee again to my body but only before my workouts. Stupid anxiety makes you gain weight. So I have coffee in the morning after a good breakfast and before my workouts, to burn it off because if I don’t work out it will be bad. I make sure I drink a lot of water, duh we feel awful when we don’t. If I get jittery which happens sometimes I take a gaba supplement which makes me sleep like a baby. Guys there’s hope with anxiety not all is lost. We just have to find what works for us.

I have anxiety and depression. I take caffeine, l-theanine, rhodiola, siberian ginseng, and I feel amazing. I also do not consume caffeine after 2pm. Caffeine with other stimulants makes me feel anxious and depressed.

Over the last two year's I've noticed drinking coffee fuels my anxiety. I love coffee though, I had to switch to drinking 1 caffeinated coffee in the morning and decaf for the rest of the day. Decaf might not be 100% free of caffeine but it works for me.

most stimulants cause anxienty. when I was abusing ritalin in high school I would have bad anxiety when I wasn't high. that is the biggest reason why I quit.

I used to drink coffee a lot, but I replaced it with a herbal tea that consists of both nettle and an Argentinian herb called "Yerba Mate" and the Yerba mate is a really good natural caffeine substitute, which I really do recommend for anyone with health/sleep anxiety.
