    Walking out over the ice to get to the route. Coolest approach I've ever seen. Also I love Norway, the approach is frozen ice, there is snow everywhere, it's probably well below freezing and Magnus isn't even the only one out there. There are other people climbing. What a cool culture with people tough as nails.

    • @Thrusthamster
      @Thrusthamster 3 роки тому +22

      Not to take the creds away from us Norwegians but most of those people would probably be climbing in the gym if it was open I think. Some hard cases probably would be there anyway. But it's -12c now so I think they'd prefer more effective training indoors and then jump on their projects when the conditions are much better

      year. It's realy amazing. Stil can't imaging someone climbs in midwinter, with both realy cold granit and probably ice on the holds. One must have inhumanly strong body and will to do that.

      I respect the hell out of that but you're not gonna catch me climbing outside when it's freezing. That's why indoor climbing is for. These nordic people, they're built different man.

      The ice is also pretty clean and unused ... not like any ice close to a big city anywhere else.

      Cold and dry winter days is perfect conditions for the harder climbs at this crag. High season at Damtjern is normally January-February as the climbing is extremely friction dependent.

      Since nothing was there to stop me, (finances, time, etc.), I joined a climbing gym around 2 months ago. I am excited and cannot wait until I "get good" at it. He has truly sparked my love for climbing, and I cannot thank him enough for doing so.
