There should be a lever where the two slides come together that needs to be released on each slide. The inner slide will slide out of outer. Then push the slide all the way in to latch it. Just in case you run across it again. I like the way you solved problem removing fronts.

I am just curious about pricing for commission pieces. This dresser was soooo much smaller and less curves than a French Provencial pieces that you did and sold for under $500 and it took more work and even a buy in for the pieces but it was wayyyyyyy cheaper than what you charged this "special client." She paid almost $600 but you only used $50 worth of products and no buy in for furniture. Just curious because I would imagined a FP would be a lot more money (they are my fav just like they are your fav) but this small dresser cost more for you to do than a piece double the size.

Doing a commission pieces is much mores stressful than doing a piece you design and just sell. You just wait for the right buyer. But if you mess up on a commission piece, you have to try and replace it, and if it a family heirloom or an antique, it’s impossible to replace memories. Besides that, you are usually buying new paint-exactly what the person that hired you wants. Not just what you have on hand or want to try. For those reasons and more, traditionally it is more to hire someone to do YOUR piece. I charge more myself, and I pay more if I want someone to do a piece for me. Also, I love French Provincial style like you and Lauren. But not everybody does. So that doesn’t make that piece any more valuable than the next. Many like that straight line and more simple pieces like the one she is doing. I know it sounds a bit backwards, but that’s generally how the market goes. If you have a client that brings you many pieces (say they buy a lot to stage houses), they usually are not so picky and are ok with what they bring you. They trust your work. Often, you are able to charge them less for those reasons. They aren’t bringing you “special” pieces. If something happens, it’s not a big deal. And the number they have you paint makes it worth a bit less. I know many people who won’t even do commission pieces for the stress. And it takes away a lot of the creativity that makes painting and sanding fun. So, It’s just easier to paint what you like and find a buyer. Hope that helps answer some of the reasons why commissions are more costly.

We just started using a Conway air purifier near our workspace and it is amazing how much particulate it removes. It has a triple filter and you can dial up the intensity or put in eco mode.

Its beautiful. I love this piece! It does drive me a little crazy though, staging in 3 rule. Its about focus on the piece not the props. Remove the lamp, keep the flowers because they move up your wall to the art and replace the mushroom with a book to set the lovely bowl on or something (across the color wheel) on. Slide them in next to the vase. Be intentional, you don't want it to wash away the great work you did on the piece. It brings the eye to the chest and makes it pop all clean and wonderful wonderful!
