- Cale Yarborough knows the most efficient way to kill 5000 turkeys. He tells the story of a turkey killin storm during the Sunday rain delay for the 1991 Winston 500 at Talladega. Ned Jarrett and Benny Parsons also have stories of rain in the '60s.
NASCAR on ESPN. Those were the best years of NASCAR. Bob Jenkins and Dr. Jerry Punch were two of the best!
I remember that day so well. I was walking back to my car in the muddy parking lot and busted my knee wide open as I attempted to cross a ditch. Luckily, there was a busload of drunks who saw the whole thing and cheered as I hobbled back 1/4 mile to the medical tent outside the grandstands with a mixture of red Alabama mud and blood pouring down my leg. When I returned with 15 stitches and a massive bandage an hour later, the drunks were still there cheering me on.
Awesome
Great video thanks for posting. Lake Speed..haven't heard that name in years.Ah..Nascar..Winston Cup...when it was still about guts and glory.
Yep- and Cale ,Bobby , Donnie, Bill,Neil, Dale, Chargin Charlie ...them ole boys ain't. walking through the Garage and there isn't any of today's drivers who could carry any one of these guys' toolbox - they can try all the gimmicks under the sun- it ain't coming back- Greed, a general misinterpreted view of the demographic, Jeff Gordon 4$gal fuel, the " car of tomorrow" ?- not to mention the drivers we lost- NASCAR and and the ship it was trying to find a sponsor for , sailed a long time ago
