I personally did not want to bother learning the game again to beat the 'Pride and Joy' combat simulator. This guide is still just as useful as it was 2 years ago. I decided to come back for the platinum medal and complete the play log in this game after rebirth, and I now have the hardest enemy to asses and the hardest trophy to earn under my belt. I’m about to have 100% completion in both remake and rebirth thanks to you, king 👑
Finally cleared it! Thank you so much! I'd tried several other "easy" guides and never could make it past Bahamut. This one was a close call (kept missing my arcane ward just long enough for Bahamut to escape from stun lock), and then didn't manage to stay behind P & J with Tifa for that first beam cannon, but fortunately the Thundara on the leg strategy can be adapted for just Cloud and Aerith if you're quick enough on the trigger.
Holy shit. Your guide got me through this on my FIRST try! I'm not even very good, and hard mode has been a huge headache for me and I really didn't think I could do this. I thought I would be practicing/dying/repeat until I finally got it..or gave up; but once I beat Leviathan I started thinking I had a chance. Bahamut summoned Ifrit just as I was getting off my last focused strike/combo to take Bahamut down. Luckily, knowing I'm not very good, knew that would probably happen and put elemental + fire in my armor (as you suggested) and the Ifrit fight gave me back quite a bit of HP back as a result :). Oddly, the hardest part for me is switching to control the character I intend to control. Tip for noobs, since timing is very important in these fights, as soon as I got another team member ATB while using Tifa - I paused the game and thought out which D-pad direction (L or R?) I'd have to push to get to the intended character - otherwise I usually fumble about and lose really important time. I paused the game and this guide quite often to make sure I understood the next step and the next, etc. I really can't thank you enough. You deserve more likes/subscribes for sure.
Another outstanding video! One thing that can't be undersold is the importance of the fury rings. I tried this challenge with and without fury rings (to compare) and it makes a huge difference on the amount of damage dealt and how quickly you stagger enemies.
Best accessory after Gotterdammerung, think Fury Ring gives like 33% more damage to all types (Mag+Str), improves dmg taken too, but if u have a plan, that's not a big problem

I have another version of this which is a cleaner method with slight variations btw, and if you need any easy guides for future hard boss fights, you should find them all here! Though the Jenova Dreamweaver boss is only boss where the fight is kinda messy, I just couldnt figure out a clean strategy for that one, so its a case of healing and using certain attacks

One year on from my last comment, I gave this another try. Did it first time. It helped I learned I could reset things chosen in weapon cores. This video was a massive help. Followed it down to the very last attack. I thank you good sir.
Thanks to this guide i managed to beat it first try!!! I ran out of MP at pride and joy since i didnt have MP ups max upgraded lol but i did manage to stop bahamut from summoning which was amazing!!! Managed to beat pride and joy with 0 MP left since he wasnt too hard thankfully. Thanks so much for this guide!!!!!!
Best guide for this mission on the Internet! I’ve tried several but most depend on luck, or even if I follow them exactly they don’t work. Should have done it first time but I got Tifa KOd by P&J’s beam cannon a couple of times. If you make sure you have over 6000HP on Tifa you can survive it.
3 years later and I’m finally getting to these challenges and your guide makes me think I can actually nail this (with some timing practice). Can’t wait to also use your guides as I take on Weiss and then the Rebirth challenges

Man I didn't have any trouble with pride and joy on the PS4 version but for some reason he wiped the floor with me countless times on PS5. Finally beat him with this guide. Thanks man!
Thanks again Optinoob! Btw, most of my battles, despite my setup being close to yours (I think my MP up on Cloud was only level 3) kind of devolved after the first stagger and I was really having issues at Bahamut, particular not being able to get him down at stagger. The last time that i completed this, he called Ifrit without even doing Umbral Strikes! BUT I put fire absorb on both Tifa and Cloud. When Ifrit was out, I realized I could beat on him with Tifa and use the ATB fill for Aerith and Cloud to cast magic on Bahamut. I actually ended up killing Bahamut first and Tifa went down, so I used Cloud to keep Ifrit facing away from Aerith and getting healed. Then, on P&J, I immediately took Tifa behind him and he still turned around and 1 shotted her. So I had to manually toggle between Aerith and Cloud to keep them in the Arcane Ward and use Thundara which was enough. Cloud quickly ran out of MP so kept hitting with focused thrust. Double Thundara was enough to keep P&J stunlocked until death. Phew!!

cannot thank you enough for this guide 😭 i never ever thought i’d beat this after a few goes of trying and failing miserably. i went back and grinded all my materia, gathered the extra fury rings and following your guide (admittedly i kept pausing to refer back but still), i completed it first try SO easily and even went and completed it a second time straight after as i forgot to assess pride and joy prototype 🤦🏼♀️ amazing guide, couldn’t have done it otherwise 💛

Im 52 ... played the original in '97 (fave ever game) ... seems my brain isn't what it was heheh ... playing on PC/Intergrade so I have Serphetic Earings ... I thought Fury only works on physical damage ... but anyways ... Holy cow, thank you so much for these guides. I tried this a year or so ago and couldn’t get the whole timing of the focus strike ap assist for Tifa so I gave up. Just started playing again and decided I would just start on easy mode through the game specifically to practice this pattern, and it’s a game breaker once you get it down. I went in with the recommended setup plus some extra materia help (gave everyone revive) and it still didn’t go according to plan (leviathan was awful and I had to tangle with both Bahamut and Ifrit, and both cloud and Aerith ran out of MP that fight) but whenever I had a chance I did my best to stick back with the original plan. Managed to just squeak out a win in the end.
Just cleared this on the 2nd try. Couldn't get the timing with Bahamut right so added Elemental + Fire Materia to armor for Cloud and Aerith. Didn't have to worry about Ifrit anymore. Kudos to you sir, great guide!

Yasssss!!! Got this!! Took a couple of times at least 8 to get past leviathan and understood her. Then I rest mode my ps5, sleep while really studying this guide, attempt this morning, pass both bahamut and pride and joy first try! I did summon ifrit but I already equipped elemental fire on both cloud and tifa so thank God! 😂

Seeing a lot of positive comments. Watched some of your other guides to get to this point and was very satisfied. Going for the platinum before Rebirth so any good and FACTUAL guides I can get my hands on are great. Will be using this in about 5 minutes but I gotta mentally prepare myself lol.
This guide has been really helpful, thanks. I have beaten this before, got the game on PC and playing through it again, feels like ten times harder, enemies act so unpredictably, one change and it will ruin a whole run. I'm almost at the point of just playing to outlast instead. So annoying, but these strats are super strong.

Awesome, thanks dude! I never thought I would beat it. Took a good many tries for me to get it down especially Bahamut. Pride and Joy knocked Tifa out right away and I decided to just go for it alternating Cloud and Aerith building ATB then hitting it with a Thundara, two Thundara stunned it then I was able to keep doing that sequence repeatedly on one leg and eventually beat it!
gotta say i usually don't comment, but thanks to your vid i beat pride and joy the 1st(and only lol nfk) time i fought him so mad props(i wasn't as lucky to stagger bind bahamut and ran into his good ole buddy Ifrit) and tyvm for sharing the knowledge
Huge thanks for the guides, they've been so helpful, I've used a guide for this and almost every boss except the early game ones 👍 didnt quite beat bahamut before ifrit was summoned but because of the fire-elemental armor it was a cake walk, it actually just helped me heal up before the P&J 😂
Thanks to your guided with hardmode I finally after long last beat the game that final chapter I was struggling with,I'm so glad you mentioned that ither guides don't always work as I found that out when I tried following guides how to beat this one qnd at shiva and leviathan they don't always go in the direction or do the same things other guides claim they should do ,Thank you again for down to earth clear concise info a lot of us were lacking that and with rebirth around the corner I'm sure you will set us all straight with that also
6 days I tried this and always failed, the battles dragged on no matter what Materia I tried, then I found this guide. I had so much doubt when I saw not even all slots filled, lowest def armor on, no heals and no raises. I was like this guy is off his rocker. This, was the most simple fight when you actually cast in the same manor you show. The enemy doesn’t get a chance to move. I finally beat it. Thank you so much!

After about 20 times replaying I finally beat this! Things didn't go perfect with Bahamut. He was almost dead summoned Ifrit but I just kept up the pressure and made it through! Thanks for making this guide.

I managed to do it. You are now officially my best friend. It got a bit messy against Bahamut but in the end it helped me because it gave me the chance to siphon some needed MP from Ifrit. Great video(s)!

Man. Thanks. I finally got it. Somehow he summoned ifrit but he died as he did. Then, pride n joy killed Tifa right away and had to 2 man him with no mp on cloud. Kept him stunned with just arieth and thundara (lvl2) but it was your guide that got me there. So thanks mate.
Perfect video. I did throw Elem-Fire on Aerith/Tifa in case of Ifrit, which worked perfect for me. Otherwise this is the only successful video I found (worked first time)

Great guide. First tried it following along. I just paused in game every few attack strings you said and it worked out. Leviathan was a little random at the start but it still worked out.

Thank you for the guide! I beat it a month ago on FF7RIntergrade version but now was looking for again on more safe strategy. Your strat is very impressive especially with how you did it with such little materia so it would be possible for all players. I failed with Bahamut and did too much dmg on him so he summoned Ifrit, but I equipped Cloud with maxed Elemental+Fire on armor so Ifrit's attacks were healing him. Honestly I remember struggling with this challenge but now it was almost too quick. Thank you, very nice guide for all kinds of players.
I can't believe I beat it. I was trying my own and similar strategies, then came here (knowing I should have come first place), decided to try once to warm up until I got it (I was having a hard time making Shiva work) and once I got here I got all (Ifrit was summoned since I'm not as good a player as you, but those tips for element fire and using my own Arise made it happen). You are truly the best. I hope to find more videos of other FF from you, and I already know I will for Rebith once it comes to PC.

A massive thank you for this guide! After trying many others' this one worked for me. Having only one fury ring that I put on Tifa made it slightly harder than it should've been, and had to do a few runs before nailing it. The elemental fire in defense worked wonders for me as Bahamut summoned ifrit which allowed me to restore health and also MP for aerith using her ability which came in useful for Pride and Joy as Cloud ran out of MP few the last few rounds. I had to watch three video guides, including this one, for me to get this trophy. It was an agonizing few hours trying to defeat bahamut and even the tricky leviathan. Without these guides, I wouldn't be able to get past the first boss.
Thank you so much for this guide. Even with the help this took me like 50 attempts (Probably because I did it before Hard Mode and didn't fully level the magic up materia). The first time I got to the Pride and Joy, my heart sank because I failed to dodge the laser and lost Tifa; Luckily the Pride and Joy was so easy that I was able to beat it just by switching between cloud and Aerith and manually building ATB.
Ditto, I was following a similar guide re strategy but much stricter with materia requirements and I couldn't get it to work. This, with Tifa generating constant ATB with ATB assist works much better and is MUCH simpler and easier to pull off. I could even add a Revive materia and thank god I did, cos I messed up and died immediately on Pride and Joy but was able to rez Tifa. Did it first time. Thanks a million!!
Thank you sir! I already had platinum back on PS4 release but replaying on PC and looking to speed through and all the other guides fall apart at Leviathan or Bahamut. I held off on spamming Bahamut near the end around 2% hp to not waste mana but he summoned Ifrit. No big deal as I put fire/elemental just in case with all the empty slots your build had too.

Although there were some touch and go spots (Bahamut almost KO'd the party when I forgot I didn't put Elemental+Fire on Cloud's armor and nearly running out of mana for the Pride and Joy fight) I managed to beat it on the first try. This was an absolutely incredible breakdown. Easy to follow steps. also... ATB assist is insane, how have i not used this like at all before. I tried following a "normal" guide for these fights but holy hell speedrunning them with tifa is the way to do it. incredibly easier (i know it probably wasnt easy coming up with the strat, but you laid it out so well it took me one attempt pausing between fights and watching your guide)
Amazing guide that leave us a little bit of freedom on materia setup. Took me a couple tries since Bahamat was cosplaying Yuna with Ifirit... Now it's done and let's do Weiss! Thanks!!
If anyone was stuck on Bahamut like I was I have some advice for Ifrit and beyond. Once ifrit is spawned, focus him down while avoiding Bahamut as much as possible. Do not worry too much about rushing Bahamut to death if you're too weak to keep him in a stun lock, use manawall to survive the megaflare then the fight basically resets. Much more manageable with Ifrit gone and the countdown reset.
Also to add to that: since Optinoob didn't equip all slots with materia, it leaves you some slots to add your own if you want (MP up, HP up, Magic up, etc.) but you can equip up to 2 characters with either 2 star or best maxed out Elemental+Fire on their armor (bangle) and it will either make them absorb all the fire damage or all Ifrit attacks will heal them (if mastered). Then just cast attack spells on Bahamut to finish him off while the one character can keep Ifrit occupied.

Thanks to this guide i managed to beat it first try!!! I ran out of MP at pride and joy since i didnt have MP ups max upgraded lol but i did manage to stop bahamut from summoning which was amazing!!! Managed to beat pride and joy with 0 MP left since he wasnt too hard thankfully. Thanks so much for this guide!!!!!!
Best guide for this mission on the Internet! I’ve tried several but most depend on luck, or even if I follow them exactly they don’t work. Should have done it first time but I got Tifa KOd by P&J’s beam cannon a couple of times. If you make sure you have over 6000HP on Tifa you can survive it.
If you like this, you will sure like my other version. I made 2, the other is much cleaner and a little more minimalistic

Man I didn't have any trouble with pride and joy on the PS4 version but for some reason he wiped the floor with me countless times on PS5. Finally beat him with this guide. Thanks man!
Thanks again Optinoob! Btw, most of my battles, despite my setup being close to yours (I think my MP up on Cloud was only level 3) kind of devolved after the first stagger and I was really having issues at Bahamut, particular not being able to get him down at stagger. The last time that i completed this, he called Ifrit without even doing Umbral Strikes! BUT I put fire absorb on both Tifa and Cloud. When Ifrit was out, I realized I could beat on him with Tifa and use the ATB fill for Aerith and Cloud to cast magic on Bahamut. I actually ended up killing Bahamut first and Tifa went down, so I used Cloud to keep Ifrit facing away from Aerith and getting healed. Then, on P&J, I immediately took Tifa behind him and he still turned around and 1 shotted her. So I had to manually toggle between Aerith and Cloud to keep them in the Arcane Ward and use Thundara which was enough. Cloud quickly ran out of MP so kept hitting with focused thrust. Double Thundara was enough to keep P&J stunlocked until death. Phew!!
Your guides have been helping me so much as I go for the platinum trophy before Rebirth comes out! It took me 5 attempts but I was finally able to beat this challenge today!

Thank you so much for this video. I was able to finish this whole fight in about an hour once I learned all the patterns for each enemy. The platinum is actually looking obtainable for me. Here we go with hard mode. Got you saved and subbed for hard mode bot fights!!

cannot thank you enough for this guide 😭 i never ever thought i’d beat this after a few goes of trying and failing miserably. i went back and grinded all my materia, gathered the extra fury rings and following your guide (admittedly i kept pausing to refer back but still), i completed it first try SO easily and even went and completed it a second time straight after as i forgot to assess pride and joy prototype 🤦🏼♀️ amazing guide, couldn’t have done it otherwise 💛

Im 52 ... played the original in '97 (fave ever game) ... seems my brain isn't what it was heheh ... playing on PC/Intergrade so I have Serphetic Earings ... I thought Fury only works on physical damage ... but anyways ... Im loving every moment and your guides are the best I've come across ... just chaps 17 & 18 left on hard thanks to you ... massive thx, cos without an official guide, this game is tough for an old timer that is used to turn-based combat ... you have literally been the difference between me enjoying the game and not ... so much thx from an old-timer! :) x

I gotta thank you for this guide man! I've been on the road to 100% this game and this was one of the BIG obstacles in my progression, let alone this being arguably one the hardest thing's I've come across in a game so far lol. But with a little improv on Pride and Joy, as I ran out of MP, I managed to pull through!! :D

Holy cow, thank you so much for these guides. I tried this a year or so ago and couldn’t get the whole timing of the focus strike ap assist for Tifa so I gave up. Just started playing again and decided I would just start on easy mode through the game specifically to practice this pattern, and it’s a game breaker once you get it down. I went in with the recommended setup plus some extra materia help (gave everyone revive) and it still didn’t go according to plan (leviathan was awful and I had to tangle with both Bahamut and Ifrit, and both cloud and Aerith ran out of MP that fight) but whenever I had a chance I did my best to stick back with the original plan. Managed to just squeak out a win in the end.
Just cleared this on the 2nd try. Couldn't get the timing with Bahamut right so added Elemental + Fire Materia to armor for Cloud and Aerith. Didn't have to worry about Ifrit anymore. Kudos to you sir, great guide!

Thanks alot, watched the guide, took some notes, went into it and got it done on my first attempt. Didnt manage to stop Ifrit, but because tifa was using fire protection it was a breezer. Last boss was braindead following your starts. Big thank you, great Teacher!

Took a couple of times at least 8 to get past leviathan and understood her. Then I rest mode my ps5, sleep while really studying this guide, attempt this morning, pass both bahamut and pride and joy first try! I did summon ifrit but I already equipped elemental fire on both cloud and tifa so thank God! 😂

This guide has been really helpful, thanks. I have beaten this before, got the game on PC and playing through it again, feels like ten times harder, enemies act so unpredictably, one change and it will ruin a whole run. I'm almost at the point of just playing to outlast instead. So annoying, but these strats are super strong.

Awesome, thanks dude! I never thought I would beat it. Took a good many tries for me to get it down especially Bahamut. Pride and Joy knocked Tifa out right away and I decided to just go for it alternating Cloud and Aerith building ATB then hitting it with a Thundara, two Thundara stunned it then I was able to keep doing that sequence repeatedly on one leg and eventually beat it!
gotta say i usually don't comment, but thanks to your vid i beat pride and joy the 1st(and only lol nfk) time i fought him so mad props(i wasn't as lucky to stagger bind bahamut and ran into his good ole buddy Ifrit) and tyvm for sharing the knowledge
Huge thanks for the guides, they've been so helpful, I've used a guide for this and almost every boss except the early game ones 👍 didnt quite beat bahamut before ifrit was summoned but because of the fire-elemental armor it was a cake walk, it actually just helped me heal up before the P&J 😂

6 days I tried this and always failed, the battles dragged on no matter what Materia I tried, then I found this guide. I had so much doubt when I saw not even all slots filled, lowest def armor on, no heals and no raises. I was like this guy is off his rocker. This, was the most simple fight when you actually cast in the same manor you show. The enemy doesn’t get a chance to move. I finally beat it. Thank you so much!

After about 20 times replaying I finally beat this! Things didn't go perfect with Bahamut. He was almost dead summoned Ifrit but I just kept up the pressure and made it through! Thanks for making this guide.

It got a bit messy against Bahamut but in the end it helped me because it gave me the chance to siphon some needed MP from Ifrit.

Just completed it today thanks to your guide! I'm really surprised at just how powerful Fury Rings are, having all three equipped makes the difference is staggering each boss.

Man. Thanks. I finally got it. Somehow he summoned ifrit but he died as he did. Then, pride n joy killed Tifa right away and had to 2 man him with no mp on cloud. Kept him stunned with just arieth and thundara (lvl2) but it was your guide that got me there. So thanks mate.
Perfect video. I did throw Elem-Fire on Aerith/Tifa in case of Ifrit, which worked perfect for me. Otherwise this is the only successful video I found (worked first time)

Great guide. First tried it following along. I just paused in game every few attack strings you said and it worked out. Leviathan was a little random at the start but it still worked out.

Thank you for the guide! I beat it a month ago on FF7RIntergrade version but now was looking for again on more safe strategy. Your strat is very impressive especially with how you did it with such little materia so it would be possible for all players. I failed with Bahamut and did too much dmg on him so he summoned Ifrit, but I equipped Cloud with maxed Elemental+Fire on armor so Ifrit's attacks were healing him. Honestly I remember struggling with this challenge but now it was almost too quick. Thank you, very nice guide for all kinds of players.
I can't believe I beat it. I was trying my own and similar strategies, then came here (knowing I should have come first place), decided to try once to warm up until I got it (I was having a hard time making Shiva work) and once I got here I got all (Ifrit was summoned since I'm not as good a player as you, but those tips for element fire and using my own Arise made it happen). You are truly the best. I hope to find more videos of other FF from you, and I already know I will for Rebith once it comes to PC.

A massive thank you for this guide! After trying many others' this one worked for me. Having only one fury ring that I put on Tifa made it slightly harder than it should've been, and had to do a few runs before nailing it. The elemental fire in defense worked wonders for me as Bahamut summoned ifrit which allowed me to restore health and also MP for aerith using her ability which came in useful for Pride and Joy as Cloud ran out of MP few the last few rounds. Thanks again!

I had to watch three video guides, including this one, for me to get this trophy. It was an agonizing few hours trying to defeat bahamut and even the tricky leviathan. Without these guides, I wouldn't be able to get past the first boss.

Thank you so much for this guide. Even with the help this took me like 50 attempts (Probably because I did it before Hard Mode and didn't fully level the magic up materia). The first time I got to the Pride and Joy, my heart sank because I failed to dodge the laser and lost Tifa; Luckily the Pride and Joy was so easy that I was able to beat it just by switching between cloud and Aerith and manually building ATB.
Ditto, I was following a similar guide re strategy but much stricter with materia requirements and I couldn't get it to work. This, with Tifa generating constant ATB with ATB assist works much better and is MUCH simpler and easier to pull off. I could even add a Revive materia and thank god I did, cos I messed up and died immediately on Pride and Joy but was able to rez Tifa. Did it first time. Thanks a million!!

Thank you sir! I already had platinum back on PS4 release but replaying on PC and looking to speed through and all the other guides fall apart at Leviathan or Bahamut. I held off on spamming Bahamut near the end around 2% hp to not waste mana but he summoned Ifrit. No big deal as I put fire/elemental just in case with all the empty slots your build had too.
Just wanted to say huge thanks for this guide. I tried a couple others and could barely get past Leviathan. Although there were some touch and go spots (Bahamut almost KO'd the party when I forgot I didn't put Elemental+Fire on Cloud's armor and nearly running out of mana for the Pride and Joy fight) I managed to beat it on the first try. This was an absolutely incredible breakdown. Easy to follow steps. also... ATB assist is insane, how have i not used this like at all before.
I tried following a "normal" guide for these fights but holy hell speedrunning them with tifa is the way to do it. incredibly easier (i know it probably wasnt easy coming up with the strat, but you laid it out so well it took me one attempt pausing between fights and watching your guide)

If anyone was stuck on Bahamut like I was I have some advice for Ifrit and beyond. Once ifrit is spawned, focus him down while avoiding Bahamut as much as possible. Do not worry too much about rushing Bahamut to death if you're too weak to keep him in a stun lock, use manawall to survive the megaflare then the fight basically resets. Much more manageable with Ifrit gone and the countdown reset.
Also to add to that: since Optinoob didn't equip all slots with materia, it leaves you some slots to add your own if you want (MP up, HP up, Magic up, etc.) but you can equip up to 2 characters with either 2 star or best maxed out Elemental+Fire on their armor (bangle) and it will either make them absorb all the fire damage or all Ifrit attacks will heal them (if mastered). Then just cast attack spells on Bahamut to finish him off while the one character can keep Ifrit occupied.
