- The most underrated low seat for the Yamaha Tenere 700 is the factory low seat. You can find it for $130, which is an inexpensive way to try out a low seat before installing lowering links. In this video I discuss why I think this seat is so underrated. I also discuss why riding on a harder seat is better for long rides than riding on an overly soft seat. Below is a link to factory low seat.

Im 5-7 and have always had a hard time with tall dirt bikes. I remove the factory seat skin and modify the factory seat foam myself. Sometimes I can shave out just enough foam other times I remove almost all of it and then add a thin layer of some other density from an upholstery shop. This has worked much better than aftermarket seats for me and ive done this to many different bikes over the years. I also used to ride with a really short guy years ago who rode with NO SEAT. He sat on a rolled up towel and he swore by it.
Great plan to get rhe seat exactly the way you want. Not so sure about the rolled up towel.
Sounds like a great inexpensive solution.
For my 390 I purchased a custom seat from Sargent. While not inexpensive, it has the cutout (Like a bicycle seat) for your sit bones allowing me to do long days, for many days in relative comfort.
The cows are right, and we should run bicyclists off the trails, but they know seats! - Frank
Loved the ending short.😊
That bike interests me for a future ride for sure. At 5'8 I am just not sure.
The low seat will help but you still might be on the balls of your feet. You should be able to get one foot no problem.
Yes
Finally some sense
I’m an inch taller than you and just flat footing the T7 with the stock seat.
I love its firmness and can’t understand why almost everyone keeps wining how hard it is???
I stand up on the pegs once in a while and that relieves any pressure points I may get after a long sit down.
I may buy this one as well just to have an easier reach to the ground in the uneven nasty stuff 😊
Thanks 🙏
I have the low seat, and for longer rides where I’m doing a mix of highway and off-road, I use a cheap Amazon air cushion over the low seat. So on the highway, I have more comfort. Then when I get off-road, I reach back and release the air from the cushion. That way off road I can get my feet down easier. It’s a nice combo for me.
That's a great idea. I might steal it.
I only got the Touratech one because Yamaha was sold out everywhere. I really do like the Touratech though. My rear end hasn’t had a complaint.
I did the lowering links as well, and it has really been nice for me in stop and go traffic.
The Yamaha seat is a bit hard, but the price is unbeatable. The lower seat made a huge difference in traffic for me.
@@advmatt I’ll bet it’s nice on your Tuareg! Those appear to be a lot more manageable for city traffic.
@@mapache_del_sur much easier to ride for sure.
Arguably, with one foot up, all bikes let you flat foot the other side of you lean enough 😂. Sorry; couldn’t help myself. Keep the vids coming (now back to the Tuareg young man).
Tuareg stranded me in San Jose, it's in the shoo for a warranty issue. Have to fly home then come back later. Many videos to come.
@@advmatt yikes! Well that blows. Also why many shun anything but Japanese bikes. I think we all need two bikes. One being Japanese of course.
I have this seat also, a must for 30" inseam riders! I even trimmed a little bit in the mid-seat area to make it narrower. 🤏
Agreed, great seat for shorter riders. At 5'10", I found it made the bike easier to ride.

How long did it take to get?... I tried to get one 2 months ago but was backorder everywhere
It took about three months.
My order was two weeks ago. Doesn't ship till June 21....
An option may be to buy a used regular seat and srape off as much as you need from top and even round it a little. There is a you tube video on it. Seems like a straight forward job. I'm looking now into this option.
I find the Yamaha low seat too uncomfortable over the standard. unfortunately. I've tried to live with it but can't. we are all a little different.
We are all different. The standard seat is more comfortable with the little bit of extra leg room but was on the tall side for me. The lowest feels a bit cramped but I was able manage it in exchange for getting my feet down when the roads got much rougher and I needed to dab or turn around.
