A life long user. All friends are dead. They call me "functional". Took me 50+ years to realize I was dead. 1.6 year sober. Thankfully learning to live. God's so merciful 🙏
Hv only just begun watching this film... a huge wake up call to the life I was living. ..and the mistakes and horrors i brought upon myself and family. A wake call that im grateful for.
I quit weed cold turkey after being a pothead for 7 years straight up.People say its not possible but i did it. Am 6 months clean now. I will never go back to that life again.
I quit cold turkey after 30 years because I had a spinal injury and I needed pain medication more. Then I was on oxycodone for 8 years, stopped that cold turkey and went back to pot after I learned about edibles and concentrates. I can finally sleep through the night for the first time in at least 8 years
Excellent movie. Let us remember how easily/innocently one can become addicted = there, but for the Grace of God, go I. My sister died in my arms from cancer in 1991 - the shock & trauma of her death had the doctor put me on tranquillizers. And for the next 9 years I was a tranquillizer addict - quitting was one of the hardest things I've ever done.
I pray your still sober but if not it's okay just try again NOW. You can do it, just lean on God, he will make your paths straight. It may not be easy but it's totally worth it.
My mom didn't gamble do drugs steal hustle i was lucky child and she told me work for what you want and you go further in life ,good people's don't finish last just last longer
Addiction of any kind will take an individual to an early grave. But not before stripping them of their values, friends, family, and anything that can be taken to the pawn shop for what becomes the unending need for money. Only G-D's grace can set you free. I know!!
I’ll watch this movie some another time because I am “broke” myself right now and been fighting my own battles for more than a year now doing my best to keep a smile so I don’t need something to weaken me during this time of trouble but like I said I will revisit God willing when all is good. 👋🏻 I wish you all health and prosperity!
I just lost everything last week and became beyond broke AF and I’m curious to watch this one to see how my life compares …. Been a decade since last time I been broke like this . Got 2 weeks til my phone bill due and gets cut off
Great flick - I can total relate ( do anything for a gamble, sniff, snort, jab, smoke, drink etc ) addiction does not discriminate - get help, You're worth it 💜💜
No one needs God for anything. Because we can do whatever we want to without Him. Yeah that's why we all have free will to make our own choices to do whatever we to for ourselves and don't give a fuck about anything and that's all.
This was a great movie! The ending broke my heart. I hope people with addiction watch this movie and choose to get help. This movie broke my heart because I've seen so many of my family members deal with addiction whether it's gambling, drugs or alcohol. This movie definitely hit close to home.
Nicely said god bless your family And I hope they are doing well now And this movie was so good with a bad ending,, This does happen in real life all over the world,, God bless,,
I knew a man in GA that killed his wife for insurance money to gamble. I tried all the 12 steps Christian and not. I took meeting Jesus on a psyc ward in a hospital for trying to commit suicide that finally gave me something other than gambling to take up my life. Now I love Jesus and life.
Absolute great movie! Goes to show when you're on top a fallback, it takes a good-hearted person to help out for that one to get back on top. Shout-out to great people who help great people who may have fell back a little
I wish I had made a difference in someone's life at some point. I won't ever know. I remember a guy named Barry who I found next to an ATM asking for money, he ended up driving for me for over a month while I kept him in our hotel suite with his own room and he and I had an awesome Thanksgiving in Charlotte NC, he vanished after my ex somehow got to him, no clue where he is now but wish I had trusted him and not her.
I reckon "BK" had a mental health issue being CONCUSSION to his head on several impact games he played rugby league at the elite level thus affecting his cognitive ability to think clearly once he left the playing field. That's the reason why he drink alcohol and gambled so much so as to avoid being BROKE as a legend and escape from the realities of this world to that of his own world.🤔 What an Aussie film of it's kind, period.
I lived in uk for many years, what you see is what you get unbelievable full of ROUGH people and the buildings, even in London are not from the third world but the fourth
hope you look at Russell Brand show, to make you laugh and maintain hope. But he is so bright and talented not only famous/infamous. Poor addicts break your heart, fantasy is better than reality.
I'm a recovering alcoholic, right now watching this movie to motivate myself, as other colleagues rotten narsist ,all are recovering but not from character defects
Hang in there. Keep going to AA meetings. I know it's hard but, you have to focus on your own recovery. I think, Co-dependence and enabling happen more often in chemically dependent people, their family and friends too. Melody Beatie wrote two books: Co-dependent and Co-dependent no more. They are both great books to help the family members, friends, relatives, etc. Al-Anon and also Alateen meetings for families, friends and such who have an alcoholic in their lives. Helps them get the support they need. Alcohol issues don't just mess with the active alcoholic's life. It affects everyone else around them too.
It so moved my heart - it's so hard to explain love but it always transforms. God had such a beautiful plan to have us know how much he loves us so that we can love others
I am from who was addicted of drugs, many times i left and i took. But from some months i made a decision and i left everything upon gods, i am doing good, drug addiction or whatever it ruins our social life and after getting out of this world, you will feel alone and sometimes you feel like you have lost everything and my ambition that i would like to help drug abuse person. If anyone works in NGO THEN I WOULD LOVE TO JOIN AND HELPS TO THOSE PEOPLE.
The writer probably had a hard choice of how to end the story. I got up to the part where the helpful old man was in the station hearing about the charge. Now I'm thinking Ben goes jail and doesn't come out like his son and the dudes hearts broken twice or Ben gets out and continues his life happily where it was. Time to watch the end
Very sad and depressing. You cant help people who dont want to put in the effort to try and help themselves. So many hopes from people who truly cared .....
Aw this film punches you in the gut. It is a story of having fallen and been picked up by a lovely family that adores him. But like life it does not turn out the way they wanted it to. So sad so true to the core. Excellent actors. Thank you for a great movie.
This movie is great. It’s funny, educational, personal, social, and very entertaining. There are seven legal Native American gambling casinos within an hour of where I live, and they suck the life blood out of the community, create nothing but poverty and misery, and many caregivers waste all their money and time at these bloodsucking casinos. The poverty at the Native American reservations is worse because only a small group get the money, and the rest get nothing. There’s nothing good about the gambling industry. Unless you own the machines, because even if you set them at 95%, and it’s all rigged in favor of the house, it means that 95% of the money comes back to the house, out of every dollar that goes into the machine. All the other games, they all end up losing so much money, it could fund every single social program in the state of California, but instead it goes to organized crime, and a small group of people. Destroys lives including and especially the lives of the families and children of these people who waste their money money
Years ago i voted for casinos in my city. After working on the gameing floor for 6 months . Nope ! I seen enough . Wish it would go away . It sucks 2 billion dollars a month out of our local economy , The owners live out of state ,so goes the money. Drug's and theft have made the small city dangerous. Many unsolved murders .lots of homeless . I hate it . Ont that many jobs .
Your comment is more disturbing than the movie, much more. I did not know the truth behind. The demagogues relying on our ignorance. This is how they lie to us - quote: "Indian casinos were established to assist the tribes. Casinos were seen as a way to offer employment to people living on tribal lands, where unemployment is traditionally high. As time has passed, many Indian casinos have become a successful long-term economic venture, with clearer visions for establishing independent sources of revenue for the tribe. " "Commercial casinos stimulate economic growth within a state. They contribute to the tourism industry and raise the state’s profile within gambling circles. They can help revitalize run-down neighborhoods or serve as the final piece in an economic development package. "

He is an Aussie and loves the game. A great flick, not the Hollywood junk we see in the States! Thank you.
Been sober for over a year and let me tell you, life less volatile but allot more boring, dull and more alone now than ever. If i had the money, i would todd sobriety aside. The world is going to hell in a handbasket quickly anways.
Try going to an AA meeting. Listen to them. Talk if you want. What you say there stays there. No judgement. Get a sponsor (same gender only). Do one meeting a week or more if you need. There's AA meetings everywhere around the world. You will have instant friends and they will understand what you are going through. There are several social gatherings throughout the year. If you want to contribute more do something called service work. It gives you so much confidence and you make even more sober friends. Give it a go. You won't be isolated and lonely anymore. Take care of yourself. Edited a typo.

better then most movies ive seen in a long time.
Good people do still exist but it’s few in those odds now days
Not a great movie, but a good story.
