In today's episode, we're test fitting, installing, and customizing the ztrix 280yz Front Fenders, cutting holes for the service doors, and installing the ztrix Fiberglass reinforced hood. We're getting the factory hinges to work, installing quik latches, and GT500 Shelby Super Snake Hood vents to create a unique look to the front end of my project car build.

The bird was the real champion of this episode.
I genuinely don't understand why she chose that spot to nest...
Front end is looking good. Yay progress
Thanks JP!
Next Episode...How to build the proper bird nest box and relocation of a bird...ha ha ha!
🤣🤣🤣
The gaps look great man!
This car just keeps getting sexier
Thank you! It's actually becoming a problem. I'm spending more and more time just looking at it versus actually working
@@GrindhousePerformance I know exactly how you feel
A true craftsman!!!!
Haha! Im no professional, just trying real hard 🤣
Those hood vents are spectacular. The car is looking amazing my friend!
I thought they did a great job playing off of the originals, thank you!
Just came across your channel only a couple days ago. I'm binging this entire playlist, loving all the work so far. Keep it up!
Im glad you found my channel! You're just getting to the good stuff, Enjoy!
i found that channel yesterday and i really like your content 😍😍
Awesome, I hope you like the rest of the project series!
Very nice work. Near perfect lines. Love watching. I hope you keep the channel going.
Thank you for that, it's taken a ton of time getting to this point. Life has pretty dramatically gotten in the way lately but am hoping to start making progress again soon!
Love the datsun build so far mate, looking forward to your new contents.
Hey thanks Colin! Im excited to record something other than body work! The whole shop and my equipments dusted out
Great update, Dave!
Hey Ira, thank you!
Good job looks really good bro
Hey thanks man!
Keep killin it, lookin good! One thing I noticed about the kit is that the front of the fender panels don’t have the same crease as the hood, I think that small detail could really bring together the front even more than what you’ve already done!
Hey thanks Jordan! Im not sure what you mean by the crease in the hood though?
GrindhousePE like if you go to the front edge of the hood, it drops off like normal. And the front edge of the fenders, where it meets the front edge of the hood. The fenders drop off in a curved design rather than a creased design. Am I making sense??
Ahhhh, that makes sense now. I'll have to see how feasible that would be but I agree it would tighten up the front
@@GrindhousePerformance I was just about to mention this as well. Came here from reddit. I reckon just a bit of body filler blended in along the front of those fenders to help match the sharper swage line from the bonnet. If you don't want to build up that much filler you could also do bondoglass filler or just rebuild it with fresh fiberglass.
Yeah, that makes sense.. I'm a bit hesitant to add a sharp edge out of body filler or even the fiberglass reinforced filler to the front edge of the car.. I already think the front fiberglass is going to get pretty peppered up with chips once it starts to see track days. Something to think about though, I didn't notice it at first but I do see it now
Inside the fender against the side panel there is a blank off plate / mud guards that bolts to the side, that should give you some place for lower fender support.
If you are ,missing this / these closure panels I'm sure
" Junk Yard Jenny Z Parts" has them very reasonable, she has EVERY thing.
Another fine video. Well EDITED and a job well done !
And your a breath of fresh air , some guys work alone, " but they always say ,"WE" ,
"We're "are going to work on the brakes, or "we" are going to fit the Struts.. but there is NO one else...but they keep saying "WE"!
Like they are French , We, we, we !
Thanks for the heads up! I have a pair of close out panels but I'm not sure if I'll use them or a couple more quik latches. Bonding the close outs to the fenders will be a pretty big pain because of how much bow there is to the panel. All I know is I need to do something other than bodywork for a bit ha!
@@GrindhousePerformance as I'm build resto modding 2 s30 chassis at once I'm quit up to speed on your pain.
I would make white card templates , for exact fit ment , then make them from 20guage cold rolled and bolt then in stock location .
You can bead roll some strength in them....harbour freight has a usable bead roller for not much money.
Then shoot them with primer and urethane bed liner
Incorporating a tab to screw the lower fender into.
The original has a push on rubber seal to keep it stable, quiet and to block out debris.
Amazing to,see your job , bravo 👍💪💪💪🇫🇷🇫🇷
Hey thank you!
Fantastic work sir! If you only had to install your fenders a dozen times to get the fit right, you are a better man than me!...LOL
LOL, thanks John! I was definitely a lot less precise than you. I probably should've done a similar surgery to the driver's side that you'd done, but I didn't have the intestinal fortitude for it. The gaps at the top of the doors aren't fantastic, but that just means a darker paint code right??
@@GrindhousePerformance I disagree...your alignment and gaps are better than mine. I think you did it just right.
Too kind John, thanks
I’m kinda liking the primer gray and blue/green combo. Wonder how you could make that work
As much as it's grown on me over time I can't wait for it all to be one color 🤣
The (Honolulu?) Blue shirt makes me think Detroit Lions. lol
What’s the difference between the 280z and a fairlady Z?
👍🏼👍🏼
Hey I'm glad you've been enjoying the series! 👍
i want one for my car but i cant find any in mcallen tx
I got mine shipped from ztrix.com, believe it came from Arizona, and it wasn't awful to ship!
@@GrindhousePerformance how much did u pay for shipping I’m looking at the hoods they go for 5hundo
@@fedguerra8046 it's been a while now I don't really remember how much shipping was. Im sure they could put an estimate together for ya though
