A Jimmy 2 stroke, a legend of an engine, and the sound? FANTASTIC
Anybody else interested in Jonathan’ backstory? He’s becoming a superstar.
It is wonderful to see young people come to life. It takes patience.lol
It's his daughter's husband. They moved to the property living in their bus a few years ago and he has been Scotts apprentice mechanic
Thank you. That’s very interesting. 👍🏼
Ah yes the good Ole Sticky finger nut trick 😅
The engine sounds so good. Always good when it starts after such a huge amount of work. Well done.
Harbor Freight really took inspiration from Snap-On on that long neck ratchet. The head not only looks like the snappy version but it also sounds exactly the same.
That big V8 sounds great.
Nice job gentlemen. Triple A service
Sounds AWESOME!!! Great job Scott & Jonathon
Man that's exciting. Glad I had a front row seat 🎉
That bus is looking so much better.
Is that the coolant temperature sending unit at 14:35 in the video that appears to be disconnected from the wire connector?
The engine sounds really good. You and Jonathan did a great job on this rebuild, and in overcoming the many challenges of corroded fasteners, cracks, welding repairs, etc. You guys are very skilled and very resourceful in making these repairs that other mechanics would not even consider "going there", and just chucking the part and replacing with new. Kudos to you both!
Happy easter Sunday @Bus Grease Monkey from New Zealand
Rock on!
You guys are great!
I called that extra seal in the fuel filter assembly...
Three huzzahs for me !!! lol
I have the same Arkfeld PRO only mine is black. Green laser works great to annoy the cat. :) UV works great for finding coolant leaks. Great job on the engine swap!
That bus sounds beautiful!!
CRC Thermocure works wonders for cooling system rust. I have a 79 f250 that someone ran water in for years. Flushed with just water many times but couldn't keep the coolant green. One flush with thermocure and I never had the problem again.
😁 You did a Clifford Franklin on that radiator nut.
It was a hail mary.
Great job guys I’ve learned so much about the old Detroit’s from you guys. I’ve never had the pleasure to work on them. But I’ve done in the past on other engines when the coolant was that bad flush everything out the best you can connect the radiator leave the return hose off fill it with water and just let the engine flush itself out have a very good success doing that in the past.
Keep up the great work.
Another real good product-stuff is called Fuel Lube-VERY VERY sticky-great for o rings & holding hardware that one can't otherwise get on.
Thanks for promoting the flashlight, an extremely easy to EDC UV light is exactly what I needed right now.
Awesome video :) as always. That Davco 382, I had one on a Volvo Autocar dump truck, with a Volvo D12, worked great. Was coolant heated for winter.
Busted right off! Gotta love that.
Gotta love a Detroit they just don’t make them like they used to they run forever
That was it! I'm pulling the muffler off my mci9 8v71 lol
Not tellin u what to do but NALCO for cooling systems dissolves rust in 2. To 3 hours . Start run till temp is normal , drive a bit then drain . Re treat cooling system with antifreeze to make excellent coolant ,break surface tension also , with wetting agent . The complete cooling system is compromised . We use this religiously in locos ,mine equipment, down to cars and trucks . Everything . Here in AZ deserts ability to stay cool is paramount !
Next generation being born there.
I drove 4 Dattco Bus (CT) 1985, They had the first 8V92 in a MCI 102A3 It beat the yellow cabs in NYC fom a stoplite VERY AWESOME!!
Ive never been this scared of a rebuilt motor
Great result....but it never was in doubt with you guys on the job was it? 😀
You should flush the cooling system with caustic type cleaner like plumbers use on central heating systems.
Looking good 😊
Sounded good on start up….. maybe too quiet, I was wondering about valve clearance.
Can you give me a little hint? I got a cut in my a** hand last summer and it got a little bit infected. I ended up getting staff infection. That went from my hand to my spine. Please take care of your hand make sure you use hydrogen proximity when you get a gut. I was in a hospital for 2 and a 1/2 months. Well I like your videos too much so please take care of yourself
I feel your pain . Staph almost killed me once, and rented my skin for three months another time
Remember heater core too
keep the clips coming
Good job
Are the current owners going to know enough to properly maintain the bus when they get it back?
Well done!
Candidate for a coolant filter installation
Covid voice....I had it too this month
Shoulda vaxed.

That wouldn't stop it
Can dissolve 2 dishwasher tabs in 2l water and pour into radiator. Not for Al motors
I can't understand why someone would let the old girl get so abused. Maintenance works!! SIMPLE!! Come On People!
Purrs like a Detroit!! 😅
That sounds good to me.
BUS ENEMA
Why?I hope that truck bush didn't have an Is water filter correct
Would vinegar work as a cooling system flush that would help cut rust
Would an acid wash help clean the rust and crud from the cooling circuit?
What do you do with all those fluids?
What do you do with waste water?
Don't worry about it
Unicorns drunk it
Up here in Canada we dump er down a hill into the bush eh
Old, double gasket. A bane to all mechanics.
How many miles on am old Detroit before they need rebuilding usially
YAHOOOOOOOOOO, Now let's ROAD TEST.
Anyone who works for you gets an education that money can’t buy. Learning all the tricks of the trade for a bus mechanic takes a long time unless you work under someone like the bus grease monkey.
Might not be such a great career move. I'm sure the government would ban two stroke diesels from operation today if they thought for a minute they could get away with it.
