I was.next to an Avenger at Chino. Great big brute of a plane -- Grumman iron works.

Great airplane. Canada bought 125 in 1950 and used them in an ASW role until retiring them in 1960, back when Canada had 3 aircraft carriers.

The TBM Avenger was manufactured by General Motors. The TBF Avenger was manufactured by Grumman. It's the same plane, but with 2 designation to denote the manufacturer. Saying "Grumman TBM Avenger" is wrong.
