Day in the Life of the RCAF: CC-130H Hercules - Episode 14
Welcome to the final episode of Skies’ Day in the Life of the RCAF series, which ran all throughout 2024 to celebrate the Air Force’s centennial.
In this episode, we explore one of the RCAF’s primary search-and-rescue aircraft types, the CC-130H Hercules. While the Herc is also used for transport missions, its main focus is saving lives.
This massive aircraft can carry roughly 80 passengers, can operate on short, unpaved runways, and has a range of more than 7,200 kilometres.
In this video, hear from 435 Squadron about their day-to-day operations with the CC-130H Hercules.
The Skies team would like to once again congratulate the RCAF on 100 years of service. We ran this Day in the Life of the RCAF UA-cam series all throughout 2024 to highlight the vital missions of our Air Force and the extraordinary individuals who make it all possible. Here’s to the next 100.

"Defending an airspace" Unless its a Chinese balloon
Why more airlines are not buying these kind of baffles me?🤔
Un sueño para todos 😊(soy pobre xd)
This video is a perfect example that you dont have to have music.
rip lynx
C-17
My dream plane
My dream plane
C'est déjà un gros pépère.
❤
Sería muy bueno, por lo menos para mí me gusta mucho el Grand Caravan y me gustaría que Cessna sacára un modelo con tren (PatGear) retractil para largas distancia un Grand Caravan C209 LR
Just imagine one of the guns point to you 💀
906 is a part of the gander squadron
I like that plane
This plane needs to be in California right now, not sitting in some damn dessert!
Bro is a 777 not a 737 do you not notice the tail?
Hope they can help California out!
That's on flight radar and it's red
Made a reliable plane unreliable
Garbage company 🤢🤮
I’m gonna go see it soon,I’ve heard there is one in Canada and one in the uk
Epic
You don't see that kinda thing anymore
Dam this looks bigger then my old Buffalo
Canadas Airforce is obsolete thanks to the Trudeau Government
Dam those planes are cool👍🏻
Advanced Defense Upgrade, Hypersafe Defenders, save reread when you get time, the hypersafe defenders have billions but want trillions, they are safety scanning continual search experts, they aspire to continually gain and create more safety units, they are secret private anonymous hidden and disguised with fake stealable generators, for example they create fake safety hypersafe units continually and organizations to be stolen, there are tens of thousands in each safe traditional area, the program is non cancellable with an effective future generation reminder, they theorize continually obsessively about space expansion, they scan the globe and other areas for unsafe units, and continually draft and improve safety plans such as bounty markets, they defend persons areas and properties from unsafe offenders and detect secret offenders who wait long periods to attempt to cause damages, they create disposable armies speed generator, they are genetically programmed to self sacrifice, and fake stealable continual generator, they are completely secret private hidden anonymous and disguised, save and re-read this, make this happen to save the future
Excellent video! Extremely capable Squadron and great to see them flying in the Winnipeg skies!
I like 737 max10
I still remember the special intervention on the news for the crash in 2011 😢
My favorite airline in the background JetBlue
A thing of beauty for so many reasons. End of an era. 😢
Great plane but they need to upgrade their interiors massively, it looks so cheap and plain
What about the b-17 no hate ❤️
Canadian airforce still operate Alpha jets…??
They are privately owned and operated by Top Aces and used as aggressor aircraft for training
Bristol Centaurus !..amazing engine!…the Tempest was the precursor to the Fury!…both outstanding planes!!..
I think that may be a Pratt and Whitney engine as it has a 4 blade prop. The Bristol engine uses a 5 blade.
@ pretty much all Tempests had 4 blades and that is most definitely a Bristol Centaurus engine…most of the Fury’s had 5…some of the Typhoons had 4 and early ones had 3…look at historical photos of Tempests and you will find they pretty much all had 4 blades…
@@somebloke13the majority of aircraft that saw mass production powered by the Centaurus i.e. Tempest II, Brigand, Warwick, Beverley, Buckingham,Buckmaster,Ambassador and Firebrand all had four bladed props only the Sea Fury used a five bladed prop
This Tempest has been restored with a Pratt and Whitney engine by KF Aerospace in Canada in place of the Centaurus. The main reason being that the Centaurus is now extremely difficult to obtain adequate spares support for and without very knowledgeable maintenance prone to failure especially in the early mark VI version that the Tempest II used. The airworthy Tempest in the UK does have a Centaurus VI and since it’s maiden flight in 2023 has only flown three more times since due to difficulties with it’s engine
Sucks that it isnt gonna join the Hawaii mars at CYYJ
This one gonna have better breaks?
I could never understand, how a country, as Sweden, with about 1/4 of the population of Canada, can develop cutting-edge fighters as the Gripen and the most quiet, and ergo, 'deadliest' submarine in the world, the Gotlsnd class and Bleking class, yet Canada, not having the will and means (or funding?) to do similar?
Sweden spends more than one percent of their GDP for defense. Canada recently bumped up to 1.3 percent in 2023, but in the past spent less than 1 percent... Sweden spent 2.2 percent GDP for defense in 2022... While Sweden joined NATO recently within the last year, Sweden has spent more than the minimum NATO agreement of 2 percent for decades while Canada has not for half a century. Its difficult to upgrade, maintain, and sustain what military kit you have when you don't spend 2 percent GDP for defense, its why NATO agreed to that number. When you don't spend enough for defense, your military industrial base dies off slowly but surely, and your kit isn't replaced or upgraded soon enough. Canada has REAPED its declining armed forces by neglecting it. Canada has 22 thousand active soldiers, Sweden has 26 thousand active soldiers in its army with a quarter of Canada's population... The numbers do NOT lie...
Every Human dreams of flying
Canadian fighter bomber squadron LMAO……
That's what that squadron was originally back in WW2.
I have so much gratitude for our military personnel and their service to Canada. I just wish our government held the same sentiment. How much money Trudeau gave the Ukraine while our military staff use outdated equipment and struggle to live and feed their families.
As usual the US gets the best one of the two.

What's with the civilians onboard in military uniforms? It's kinda hairy.
Eselente avión para guerra electrónica con tres de eso para vigilar las costa dominicana
Apparently everyone in this squadron has a shaving waiver. Crazy to see a hippie as a sensor operator within the Canadian Air Force
I just looked it up, Changes were made several years earlier. Chapter 2, Section 2 of the Canadian Forces Dress Instructions. As long as hair doesn't interfere with a headdress or a helmet, you could have dreads as long as they don't fall below the collar, 1" earlobe spacers, and a tattoo of a little unicorn on your neck, as long as the tattoo cannot be considered a hateful or disrespectful symbol, or one of criminality. When you look at who runs the country, the changing of the standards of dress in the CAF doesn't surprise me. The undergarments section is truncated and right to the point too... Gitch is optional 😂
Turn off terrible music so we can hear it
INS active ? 😳
That's my baby. Another chap and I wrote the original specs for the training system in the airplane. The development was a rocky road and it took several years to get it done. Eventually got to pick up the first airplane from de Havilland and take it home to Winnipeg. The stuff in the back was pretty cutting-edge at the time and that caused some of the problems. Glad to see it's been updated and remains relevant to today's needs! Might just of been at least partially responsible for the "Gonzo" title. 🙂
Quirky and interestingly shaped observation craft
Canada should have bought 2 more of these aircraft
