you have to salute the kid who actually beat akuma back in the days on the arcade.
TheGoldminor I completely forgot people used to do that. Very few games could draw a crowd like street fighter did. I remember people would put their quarters along the bottom of the screen incase they lost. Oh the terrible feeling of the time running out on the continue screen because you were digging in your pockets looking for quarters.

I like how out of nowhere it is. In the character select, it just seems like you're going to fight Bison normally. But then the music is different, this guy slides in, obliterate him and doesn't explain anything, he just start fighting you.

When someone (who had to be extremely skilled) stumbled across this in the mid 90's, they must have gone apeshit thinking they actually found Sheng Long.
I bet they'd be something like, "Get ready, Biso-What the heck!? Who's that!? Whoever it is, he just knocked Bison out big time, and now I'm gonna fight him! This must be Sheng Long!"

To the casuals who Don't know what Sheng long when ryu wins he said you must defeat sheng long to stand a chance people thought sheng long was a secret character he wasn't that was Akuma sheng long was basically saying if you cannot over come the shuryuken you cannot defeat me

I was there. I was 14 in '94 up in the arcades when SSF2T came out. I vividly remember us all watching one of the guys who worked there playing and losing our shit when Akuma slid out and killed Bison. This was before anyone knew his name or who he was as the American version had no name, no vs picture just a silhouette, and no intro dialogue from him like in the Japanese version. And only knew this character existed because of the title sequence with flashes of him. We knew the Sheng Long thing wasnt real but all got tricked by the Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine april fools issue that showed 'Sheng Long' throw Bison out and fight Ryu. Its crazy to think this character of Akuma was partially born out of a magazine's april fools day fake images.

Back in the day, when akuma was a total mystery. Might actually be terrifying to run into him, cause reaching him is hard and there is no explanation on who he is back then.

Yeah essentially two "hits" or multiple hit one hitters and the game is over. Meanwhile it takes between 9-11 hits plus some chip damage to ko most SF2T characters

The first Guilty Gear (1998) that came out 4 years after SSF2T (1994) had Baiken. She was basically their own Akuma.

I had the SSFII game for the SNES. Being quite good at it at high difficulty levels, I went to the arcade and easily fini... and this guy appeared! My jaw dropped! I had absolutely no idea what's going on. And that blank name, along with the black picture, made me think the arcade machine was possessed! hahahaha
Props to Capcom for referencing a VERY infamous April fools joke back in the day, by adding Akuma and eventually Gouken into SF canon...

Lo que más odiaba de ese Akuma en particular es que el primer round parecía regalado, pero el segundo y tercero era una bestia del infierno y no había forma de vencerlo...me costo mucho dinero en su epoca
yo gaste como 3 soles en puras fichas para ganarlo, en ese entonces la ficha costaba 10 centimos y un sol equivalia a 100 centimos y con 10 centimos comprabas 2 panes para ese entonces, ahora el pan esta a 20 centimos. imaginate cuanto equivalia gastarse 3 soles para ese entonces, todo para ver a ese hdp muerto :'(
O dinheiro que muitos usavam para matar o Akuma dava para comprar um Saturn e o CD (ou um 3DO e o CD já que é da mesma época da versão de fliperama e não lançado alguns anos mais tarde como a versão Saturn) para matar quantas vezes quiser em casa (levem isso como zoeira pois não chega a ser tanto quanto um console novo)

Se que llego 7 años tarde pero eso no pasa solo con akuma, es con todos los personajes, debe ser lo que más me fastidia del juego, su dificultad dinámica, cada peleador debería luchar igual en todos los rounds pero no, el primero es facil y ya el segundo se ponen locos, deberían ser así desde el primer segundo para no engañar.
Nomas recuerdo que ayer le hice un perfect a bison y en el segundo round no lo pude casi ni tocar, es rarisimo e injusto la verdad.

Este Akuma imponía, daba miedo, recuerdo que mi padre me vio jugar y le pedía por favor que me dejaste vencerlo hasta irme y siempre agradeceré haberlo podido vencer con Ryu.
Igual, yo me acuerdo vencerlo con Bison y ver como lo mataba como si nada me hizo enojar aun mas
Creo que hasta la fecha y desde su debut hace ya más de 20 años, no he podido ganarle claramente a esta versión de Akuma, sin que me patée el trasero mínimo unas 50 veces. De por sí era difícil terminar este juego, derrotarlo era aún más. No cabe duda que hacía honor a su nombre este Street Fighter al llamarse "Grand Master Challenge"
Peor si jugabas Hyper Street Fighter II, porque ahi solo tenias UNA oportunidad de enfrentar a Akuma.

Akuma was extremely hard to defeat... everyone in arcade losing money to try to defeat this guy... and almost no one could. And everyone: "Sheng Long is the best AI in the world..."
man shin akuma was legit hard in this. I cant imagine beating him in the actual arcade with quarters.
He's personally a lot harder in Alpha 2. Doesn't hit as hard as he does in this game, but the input reads, OH MY GOD THE INPUT READS. He'll dragon punch you out of literally anything if you let him! Not like he doesn't do it in Super Turbo but in Alpha 2 it's so much more apparent!

Hasta que probe Super Street Fighter II quise lucirme ganando sin perder los combates para sacar mi bonus de personaje, Me alistaba para ganarle a M. What really seals the deal about this fight is that this game was already hard as hell on it's own, in order to fight Akuma you could NOT use any continues, adding the fact the normal fighters were already hard, the fact a player would still struggle against him says everything.
This guy was a beast.
To think, Akuma was created as an April Fool's joke in an EGM Magazine, and Capcom is like "Oh, this guy looks cool. Let's make him official."
In the second part of Street fighter, Shin Akuma is playable only in the GBA, dreamcast and nintendo switch.
P.S. In the Dreamcast version there is also an improved version of Shin Akuma - Ten Akuma.

Imagine you are a legit badass player in street fighter back in the day, then you run into akuma for the first time. Would have been legit scared no matter how good you are at street fighter back then.

You should read about Akuma's "ultra" as revealed in the later years: Wrath of the raging demon. It is not physical, rather Soul-devastating. The more sins you've done, the greater the damage.

Guys, to unlock Akuma as secret boss, you need to beat all the characters in a time of 20 minutes or less without dying or a continue.
Catty Noyah_Animations also if you play without losing a single round you can play against him
5 years later but as a third alternative, start a round and let player2 be the character you're expected to fight next as player1, defeat them then continuing this until you get to Bison.

Este juego está bien difícil, me tomó 4 horas acabarlo en dificultad Normal a pesar de que tengo años de experiencia en juegos de peleas de Capcom. Jugué la versión de Xbox 360 (HD Remix Arcade Clásico). Tal vez algún día tenga el poder suficiente como para pelear contra Akuma.

Not only that, he fight you in Super Street Fighter II: New Challengers Mode (without a Super meter) instead of Super Turbo Mode (with a Super meter) to humiliate you that even without Super Combo, he can still kick your ass.

As a kid, I got up to Shin Akuma at the Arcade and guess what? I was on half and Akuma had a quarter lifebar left so I tried finishing him off, he fricken kept on Gou-Shoryu-ing me. I was so fucking pissed.
