the last time we were there, they closed in Oct. I am surprised they were open. check out the Gila cliff dwellings by the hot springs next time. also the cat walk on your way to Arizona near the Mogollon rim
Hey great video. I have been to that national forest sever times but never knew about that hot springs camp ground. Looks like a great destination. Thank you
I live locally, but what we do is the dwellings and hot springs the same day. We often will stay a night at the hot springs or somewhere nearby to get more Gila River play time. My wife prefers the hot springs I prefer stomping the river or climbing the rocks on the other side. Another great trip with two birds in one stone is the Catwalk and Mogollon. They’re close enough that it’s pretty easy to do both in one day. Just be prepared for a pretty hairy drive to Mogollon, and try to do it first or you might find every place is closed up there. Mogollon for the morning and early afternoon. The catwalk for a nice picnic and hike in the afternoon and early evening. We absolutely love living here. Faywood hot springs and The City of Rocks are also right next to each other, for yet another two places in one day. Want another one? Bear Canyon Reservoir and Lake Roberts are also pretty close and can both be done easily in one day. This area is great for those that love the outdoors. Then there are some more hidden gems than those places… but we gotta know each other better to share that info 😂
The views are beautiful, can a four cylinder make it up in July? Guys thanks so much . Seen that little creek you went over I have a Mitsubishi Outlander Sport ?
We are happy to have you back in this new year! We can't seem to get enough hot springs and are about to hike to one today in Arizona. Stay safe and happy travels 😀
Woo Hoo, season TWO!!! Excited for Arizona. I have missed your awesome drone footage! Great Christmas gifts, hot springs and a little snow! See you in the next video!
We are considering heading back to this on as we drive east again this spring! So much amazing free camping and right on a stream. We have learned this year with covid that they are only letting people use the hot springs that are in their payed campground. Maybe we will skip now that I think about it. 😂
@@oneadVANtureatatime because money stops Covid? 😂 I know, probably to reduce crowds. You could hit the free ones in Utah? I think that’s where they were? I can’t remember where y’all go 😂

This is my favorite free camping in New Mexico! There are many places to camp but one location is on the river and fairly private. Only a couple miles away from the hot spring. Bring a good book as the internet connection is terrible. This is a great location to unwind and reconnect. 😎 We hope you like it as much as we do.
This is our stomping grounds. We sometimes pay to camp at the hot springs, and other times find a spot somewhere more secluded and just day use the hot springs. The roads could sure use some guard rails in a bunch of places, so make sure your brakes are good. We live in the Mimbres Valley bordering the National Forest & the Mimbres River. We absolutely love it. We don’t have a power line or pole anywhere on the property.

The hotsprings are a private campground. Youll have to check about rates but when we stayed there it was $8 per night/per person. It was worth it to have access to the three pools all night. @@oneadVANtureatatime, Yup, I know. My wife and I just survived a few days of frigid temperatures without electricity down here in Houston. Stay warm and safe.
The "G" in Gila is pronounced H.
Thank you, we appreciate the correction. We actually have it right now after getting dozen of correction comments on this video. We usually do research but this location had no cell reception.

Thank you Phyllis. We appreciate you subscribing to our channel. Sometimes we go several days or even a week with no internet connection so we forget what all we need to research. Take good care. 😃
looking forward to more videos. I will be in a van starting my adventure with three dogs and a cat at 70. Hope to meet up some day.
Y’all not from the west, are you. Gila is pronounced (HEE-lah) not gilla. Please, if you are going to highlight the state, just stop and ask someone how to pronounce the name of the National Forrest you are camping in and talking about.
Having said that, nice video! Rock on!!!
Thanks.... yes we did butcher the pronunciation!! Im sure it wont be the last time. In our defense that is no internet in way back up there....we usually try to google the correct pronunciation.
Awesome vid!
But damn you BUTCHERED the name. It’s pronounced “HEE-LUH”
I can’t count the amount of times I’ve been to the hot springs ranch. A seriously awesome place.
That's our new favorite spot in New Mexico. Yes we did butcher the name sorry. I would like to spend a couple of weeks up there. I am thinking it's pretty nice even in the summer. Take care and happy travels.
Clay Sensiba they also constantly say pot able water it’s a long “o” like potato! Small thing, but there it is!
Dave Mangin it’s our California accent!!!
It's pronounced Hee-la, not Gill-ah. If you are going to make a video, you could at least research it enough to learn to pronounce it. You get thumbs down, and no likes.
