Hi Esther. If you do visit the Stanley Idaho area the locals say it's insanely busy during the summer. The nearby city people come here for their camping trips. That said, this is our new favorite location in Idaho and we have not even shown the natural hot springs yet. 😀
Absolutely fabulous photography! I always enjoy the presentation of information pertinent to each of your videos! My husband and I are both retired geologists and now lake Stanley is a must stop for us! Last summer we were just a few miles further camping on the Big Wood River and had no idea how close we were to such interesting geologic events. We were told by an acquaintance formerly of Idaho that Redfish Lake was a must see so we bypassed Stanley for a day at Redfish. Big mistake! It's just beautiful but in the summer you might as well be in a major city. It was that crowded! So next year on our way to Wyoming we'll try to make it to Stanley by mid-May! Thanks for all the valuable information! Stay safe and stay warm!!!
Hi Joyce! You don't know how many times I wished I had a geologist around! We had a feeling Redfish lake was a madhouse in the summer. It's amazing how crowds of people can spoil the mood. We drove up there a couple days ago during a snowstorm and we're the only set of tire tracks in the whole recreational area. Absolutely beautiful!
Wow! That was an awesome ball rescue!!! I'm extremely impressed! Stanley is one of our favorite places, so it was cool to see you guys go there! Love your new kayak and your pictures/videos were spectacular. That was so interesting about the earthquake. We felt it up in Northern Idaho. It was the weirdest feeling. At first I thought I was just getting dizzy and couldn't figure out why, then we realized it was an earthquake and our entire house was moving back and forth. And we are miles away from the epicenter. It must have been something there in Stanley. Thanks for another great episode!
I was thinking this was a rare place for a big earthquake. Glad you did ok through it. Time to enter Carrie into a wild west contest! 😂 We were so impressed with that entire area around Stanley. This was our first time here and I am sure will not be our last. Stay safe and warm up there. 😎
Great images and fantastic picks of background music too.....so relaxing to be smothered by all that beauty of nature there. Lets us forget all the havoc going on in the outside world (with the politics, virus, etc.) Thanks for that mini-escape vacation. Keep those videos coming. :-)
Thank you, Linda!! Carrie did a fantastic job capturing the feeling of this location! I am loving this offseason time in Idaho! Thank you so much for your comments and support!
Roodle was not happy loosing his ball. Glad he got it back and I was shocked you got it on the second try. The boardwalk to nowhere is very cool. Interesting to see the results of the earthquake. You had me for a second I thought it was just a random kayaker 😂😂. Looks awesome to hang out there. I’m not too excited about the cold because that is COLD 🥶. Great video 👍🏼

Beautiful! I was at all those places just a month ago, and right now it's getting a foot or so more snow. This summer during the pandemic escape season, virtually every camping place and even just parking spot in that area had somebody there.
We were thinking it was crazy there in the summer! We just caught that snowstorm in Stanely. We got 13 inches of snow with deeper snowdrifts. I broke both of my tire chains and spent an entire day digging out 😂

Thank you, guys!! We finally got the big snowstorm we have been waiting on! If you thought that looked cold we can't wait to share this one. We broke both pairs of tire chains trying to get out. Carrie worked hard putting this video together, I am so happy you liked it. We appreciate your comments so very much! Thank you! 😄
I love that area of Idaho! I really like it that you two are not afraid of cold weather. I would love to live there for a year and explore the whole Sawtooth area. I kept my heater on in my van all night on the lowest setting. It kept it in the high 50s all night. I like it when it is cold enough to just leave it on, It was in the mid-20s last night a little colder would be better. I like sleeping in the low 50s in the van.
I agree! 40’s and 50’s make for good sleeping. It feels good to finally have our van set up for cold weather and not have to race to a warmer climate. I think the snow will push us out of Idaho before the cold. It's hard to find good camping when you can't explore off the highway 😂
@@oneadVANtureatatime Yea, the snow could be bad for a van. Getting stuck is just an adventure, but sliding off the road and turn very bad for sure. Safe travels.
Love your videos. Your photography is awesome and you let the scenery speak for itself without talking over it. I wish more UA-camrs would follow your example. There is one thing I'd like to see you do and that is tell us the date the video was filmed. Either a voice over or maybe a written comment at the beginning. @@oneadVANtureatatime Idaho is a very under rated State, so much beauty to see there. Really appreciate you guys sharing all the places you go and the info, helps me keep adding to the bucket list I'm slowly checking off. I'll be on the road full time early 2023, I cannot wait
@@oneadVANtureatatime I am watching all your vids - you show great places to go and I am especially interested in Idaho. I hope to visit the Stanley area this season. Those place just look so beautiful. Can't wait! Thank you,
You are going to love Idaho! The locals told us in summertime it gets flooded with tourists. The free amazing Hotsprings are the icing on the cake. We highly recommend and love the area around Stanley!
I have been doing LOTS of research for my start to VANLIFE next year. This lake was pinned on google earth. There are some good fishing in the area in lakes and streams. This hole area has lots of great places and great things to do!!! I am planning a hike with a fiend I hiked with on ALL of the OREGON Pacific Crest Trail (six week hike). We are planning an EPIC Sawtooth range Hike!!! Loved the video! I am always looking for your Saturday morning videos!!! THANKS FOR SUCH GREAT VIDIOS and wonderful locations!!!!!!!!!! Roger The ExBassGuide
We read a sign that they are stocking trophy-sized fish in Stanely lake. There is so much to love about this area! Just don't come during the summer unless you are ok with massive crowds of people...from what we hear.
I totally agree! Small towns are the best to get supplies and not deal with the driving stress of big cities. I have heard traffic in this town is terrible during the peak camping season.
Your videos are outstanding! I know Carrie married Dave for his van washing and wood sawing skills!😃 but how about Carrie’s photography and lasso skills! If I choose to go camping/boondocking with someone it would be you two cuz y’all are pretty skilled at the outdoor stuff! 👏🏻 Roodle is one “ball throwing” intense dog! 🐶 I’m a little behind in my video watching so late with this comment. Stay safe, take care! ❄️🚐
Enjoyed your video immensely! Fantastic drone footage of the Sawtooths. Thanks for the geology lesson about the earthquake impact on that lake. Hope you had a chance to try out the breakfast at Stanley Baking Company and Cafe one morning while in the area. If you didn't, turn around and go back. Or when you do go back to that area, don't miss it. Trust me on this! And no, I'm not the owner. Thanks for the great information on an area I plan to return to next summer.
Great location, beautiful footage especially with the drone, nice history lesson on the lake. Always look forward to your next video thanks for sharing.
Wow nice place but earthquakes I am trying to get away from my earthquakes almost everyday We getting here since the strong one a year ago its awful just this morning had a 3.6 so many but small ones on the west south side of puertorico can’t wait to get back to the states .Nice videos keep them coming staysafe enjoy
Love your lab/lion, what a beautiful area, I will never get there because of cancer, but thanks for sharing it, because now I can say I've seen it. New subscriber, greetings from Sydney Australia.
I am sorry to hear that you have cancer!! I hope that our videos might be a brief escape into nature. Someday I would like to explore Australia...that would be cool! We are happy to have you along for the ride! Our labro-lion is quite the companion..lol
Nice job noticing the kayak brand! I had to watch the video again to see how you figured it out 😂 The original earthquake in March according to the plaque I read at the lake was 6.5. That said, there was another earthquake a few days ago around 4.2.
Just don't go during the peak camping season. The locals say it's badly overcrowded. This time of year it has been awesome and is currently our favorite location in Idaho. Highway 75 has a massive amount of public land, hot springs, free camping, hiking trails, and wildlife. You are headed for a great time.
Gorgeous like always! I would check in with the forest service, they would be able to answer your questions. The most amazing thing I've seen when the ice forms before the first snowfall was years ago when we walked across the ice and could see all the fish swimming under us. Stay safe!
This video is one of your best, and that's a high bar. The sound was a little lower than usual, but that may have been because we have a satellite service now. IDK.
Can see the state is putting tax funds and grant fund to where is it meant to be used!!!! wonderful and Carrie cow girl at heart great roping!!! and Yes a trouper 2 !!!! My dog RR would have loved jumping in that frozen water!!! Loved your video!!!
Thank you, Mary! I was saying the same thing to Carrie about the state doing a fantastic job improving free camping areas. The evidence is all down highway 75. This Stanley Idaho area is amazing.
Carrie and Dave, what GoPro do you have? I think Roodle was wondering why Dave was wasting time sawing wood when he could be throwing the ball. So exciting to get a new yak. What brand? And if you could cover sometime show how you load and unload and secure it, that would be great. I'm considering a travel kayak for my van.
Hi Michele. Roodle knows when I cut wood that we play ball at the same time 😂 The GoPro is a 7 and the kayak is a lifetime80. It's only 30 pounds and fairly easy to get on the roof with a bit of teamwork. Great idea to show us getting it up there 👍
Brrr! Too cold for me! 🥶 I think it would have been okay when I was over there getting my rig. That NF was one of my choices to camp after picking it up. It wasn't on my route, though, so I stayed at that free campground in Arco, Idaho.
I just saw a road sign for Arco yesterday! We just left that Stanely area due to deep snow. We had a big fire and watched the snowfall for a few days it was super relaxing. ❄️😄
Really enjoyed this video as I'm planning to be in the Sawtooth / White Cloud Mountain area next year. Backpacked Alice Lake and Sawtooth Lake a few years ago. Sweet camping spot of yours, score!! Glad to know there are that many boondocking places. Awesome retrieval on the ball! Impressed! I was wondering if Roodle saw the Canadian Geese? Interesting about the earth quake, don't readily associate them to Idaho. Nice alpine glow sunset!

VanpeDiem Dang!! Those are some awesome pictures. The reflections and alpenglow shots are insane. That night sky shot is fantastic. We definitely must hike the sawtooth. Thank you for sharing!
@@oneadVANtureatatime Thank you so much! They're relatively short hikes to the lakes (approx. 5.5 miles). I got there early for a good site and camped at each one for two nights for double attempts at sunset and sunrise. Took day hikes around the area and explored compositions. Met a fellow photography @ Sawtooth setting up for night photography so we talked and I didn't have a tripod. Would you believe he had an extra tripod and loaned it to me for that Milky Way shot. Happy Trails!
Hi guys thanks for sharing your beautiful 😍 pics one day I'll visit but not in that weather I gotta say I still laugh about all the women that live in IDAHO 😂🤣🤪 safe and happy travels 😜👣👣🐾🚐🌵🌲✌️👍
I have to give you a thumbs up on your music selection. So many van life videos now try to make music videos out of non-content. You hit the sweet spot with something beautiful to look at (the ice crystals on blades of grass was awesome) but without the quiet electronic music (quiet is important) in the background I might have got bored and hung up. I think the best van life videos are the ones that provide fuel for people to dream of things they want to do. Hanging out at a frozen lake all to myself checks the box on that list. Long drives thru highway traffic maybe be part of of the reality of van life but that isn't the stuff that inspires me and people slapping music over stuff like that only makes it worse.
Beautiful! Great work at the 13:25 mark; it’s so reminiscent of the Paramount Pictures opening logo sequence that it felt as if a movie was about to begin 📽 Do you know the one I mean?
We keep all the water and plumping inside the vehicle and try not to let it get below freezing inside. The other night it was 9 below zero and we were nice and toasty inside. It took us two years to finally get prepared for cold winter temperatures. Come join us in the snow! 😎❄️
I didn't get a notice for this video 🤬🤬🤬 I went looking for it because of your Instagram post. Last year I had 10 must watch UA-cam channels and now I am down to 2 😉 and the other one is a sailboat channel. I hope you figured out the heater issue. That is seriously cold. How are your batteries doing with the cold? Dave's bridge to nowhere story was very interesting. Carie the kayaking cowgirl 😁 (congratulations on the new kayak). What a spectacularly scenic area. As always great still photography and Dave the drone footage master. Always a thumbs up 👍
We have the heater issue figured out. We run the vehicle heater before bed, have the webasto timer set for 1am to 3am and run the vehicle heater again in the morning. This worked in conditions as low as 9 below zero so far ❄️. We picked up a portable 100-watt solar panel to aim directly at the sun and have been having huge success! We finally feel we are ready for true winter type weather. We hope to head up to Glacier National Park next week. We are honored of course to be in your top 2 channels! Did I ever tell you I wanted to do sailboat life first? 😂 Carrie getting seasick put a stop to that.
Every moment Enjoyable !! Doodle drop the ball at Dave while preparing the fire wood :) Dave, why you throw a rock into the water before you take water? And I see your van get dirty right after you clean it :D
Lol! I was wondering if anyone noticed the van dirty right after I cleaned it.😂 The river was frozen over so I needed to make a hole. Roodle knows when I cut wood I will throw his ball for him. 😎 Nice attention to details!
I totally agree 👍 We are currently letting him grow back his natural coat. We have been putting his coat on as well. Now if we could keep him from laying in the snow 😂

And mad respect for the way you got the ball off the ice, that was impressive
Thank you so much! The off-season near Stanley Idaho is one of my favorite places in the United States. 😀😀👍
@@oneadVANtureatatime Idaho is a very under rated State, so much beauty to see there.
Really appreciate you guys sharing all the places you go and the info, helps me keep adding to the bucket list I'm slowly checking off. I'll be on the road full time early 2023, I cannot wait
my home! next time yall are up there, find seafoam & take that road back a ways. few lakes back there & its absoluty beautiful
Great Ball retrieval skills! Wow to you!!
I know right?! Carrie does a great job making tough stuff look easy.
What a beautiful, peaceful place you found!😍
Thank you, Kristie! That entire Stanley Idaho area is a real gem in the off season.😀
Love your scenic videos and pictures. Got to go there!
Just beautiful! Thank you.
Thank you, Sherry! 😀
wow thumbs up for getting the ball! beautiful area
Thank you! That Stanley Idaho area off-season is one of my favorite in the entire USA. Thank you for watching. 😀
Awesome boondocking spot guys! You guys are back and you haven’t missed a beat (no pun intended). Stanley’s town amenities sound perfect too👌
I totally agree!
Thank you, Andrea! You should know we would be honored to share a boondocking location with you. 👱♂️👩🐕😎
Hi John. We did not go for breakfast and now I wish we did! Another great reason to go back. We appreciate the tip! Thank you. 😎
Great location, beautiful footage especially with the drone, nice history lesson on the lake. Always look forward to your next video thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Misty! We appreciate you for taking the time to comment. Plus we need the encouragement 😄
I heard it get super cold up there near Stanley in the winter. Brave souls😁👍🏼
From what we hear the Stanley area is the coldest part of Idaho. We finally caught a decent snowstorm, can't wait to share.
Absolutely fabulous!!!
Beautiful 😻 thank you so much.
Thank you! 😀
I loved this video. Thanks for sharing! Loved you too Roodle! 😘❤️
Thank you! Roodle loves Idaho as much as we do. He has been so happy and excited.😀
Absolutely gorgeous, as usual!
Thank you! 😀
Very underrated channel brother!
Love your lab/lion,
what a beautiful area, I will never get there because of cancer,
but thanks for sharing it, because now I can say I've seen it.
Luv your LIFETIME Teton Kayak !!!
BTW... 4.2 earthquake !
Nice job noticing the kayak brand! I had to watch the video again to see how you figured it out 😂 The original earthquake in March according to the plaque I read at the lake was 6.5. That said, there was another earthquake a few days ago around 4.2.
That was awesome with your roping skills 😆
I know right! 😀 Carrie should have joined the rodeo..who knew😂😂😂
Thanks for sharing about Stanley, it is now high on the list to visit!
Just don't go during the peak camping season. The locals say it's badly overcrowded. This time of year it has been awesome and is currently our favorite location in Idaho. Highway 75 has a massive amount of public land, hot springs, free camping, hiking trails, and wildlife. You are headed for a great time.
@@oneadVANtureatatime Thanks for the advice!
Gorgeous like always! I would check in with the forest service, they would be able to answer your questions. The most amazing thing I've seen when the ice forms before the first snowfall was years ago when we walked across the ice and could see all the fish swimming under us. Stay safe!
I have heard about ice so clear you can see fish like looking through a glass window. That must have been awesome!!
We never thought that lake had fish. It was amazing to see them like that.
Trouble with the Webasto? Beautiful area, and those mountains!! ❤️
Very relaxing to watch
Thank you, Bruce! 😀
This video is one of your best, and that's a high bar. The sound was a little lower than usual, but that may have been because we have a satellite service now. IDK.
Thank you, Sue! I did notice the sound at the end of the video was a lot lower. I think your satellite is probably fine.😀
Beautiful spot😍 Thanks for sharing😊
Thank you, Mystical Misfit! 😀
Beautiful
Can see the state is putting tax funds and grant fund to where is it meant to be used!!!! wonderful and Carrie cow girl at heart great roping!!! and Yes a trouper 2 !!!! My dog RR would have loved jumping in that frozen water!!! Loved your video!!!
Thank you, Mary! I was saying the same thing to Carrie about the state doing a fantastic job improving free camping areas. The evidence is all down highway 75. This Stanley Idaho area is amazing.
Well I watched y'all on the big screen [TV] and had to get on my PC to give you a thumbs up! Great video, thanks for the scenery, stay safe Blessings
Thank you! We appreciate the thumbs up and comment. We have not got to see many of our own videos on a big screen😂
WO! Mad Skills with the lasso getting the ball back!! hahahah, nice job! I really enjoy your videos. :)
Carrie should have been in the rodeo 😂 Most the time we fail to capture stuff like this on video.
Check out Honey's Park in Arco if you ever need a free campsite that has wi-fi. Scar is a very gracious host. 🙂
Alice and Sawtooth lake must have been amazing! We hope to go back and have that experience. I wonder what the best time a year the hike is?
@@oneadVANtureatatime I was there in mid-July and still snowcaps. Was a big snow year. Scroll past the Yosemite pics on this gallery for Sawtooth and Alice Lake. www.seandupre.com/copy-of-seniors
Great information beautiful area ibhave not spent a lot of exploring time in Idaho but planning on going back beautiful sunset thank you
Thank you! We love this entire Stanely Idaho area.
I worked in the area back in the 90s tagging salmon
+Brian coughlin very cool! I bet it was just pristine and not discovered yet!
@@oneadVANtureatatime they were releasing wolfs in the area at the time
Kayak! Hooray!!! Nice color too 😊 And Trooper is my doodle’s “trail name”!
That's an awesome trail name. It's also one of those words that fun to say.
Beautiful video.
Unbelievable footage you are amazing with that drone😎👍👍👍 is it the Skydio 🤔
Beautiful!
Hi guys thanks for sharing your beautiful 😍 pics one day I'll visit but not in that weather I gotta say I still laugh about all the women that live in IDAHO 😂🤣🤪 safe and happy travels 😜👣👣🐾🚐🌵🌲✌️👍
Thank you, Mark! Now, what about the woman in Idaho? 😂
@@oneadVANtureatatime I DA Ho😂🤣
Beautiful! Great work at the 13:25 mark; it’s so reminiscent of the Paramount Pictures opening logo sequence that it felt as if a movie was about to begin 📽 Do you know the one I mean?
ua-cam.com/video/JWb9v8OB8HA/v-deo.html
It does remind me of that! Maybe we will include a clip of that next time we update our intro.😎
WOW!! Impressive roping/wrangling skill there! Rodeo much?
I know right! Maybe Carrie should pick up some ranch work. 😂
We are Floridians but you guys make us want to camp in the snow.
How do you keep your water from freezing?
Lou & Angie
We keep all the water and plumping inside the vehicle and try not to let it get below freezing inside. The other night it was 9 below zero and we were nice and toasty inside. It took us two years to finally get prepared for cold winter temperatures. Come join us in the snow! 😎❄️
@@oneadVANtureatatime I have to say you make it look tempting.
Lou
Doodle drop the ball at Dave while preparing the fire wood :)
Dave, why you throw a rock into the water before you take water? And I see your van get dirty right after you clean it :D
Lol! I was wondering if anyone noticed the van dirty right after I cleaned it.😂 The river was frozen over so I needed to make a hole. Roodle knows when I cut wood I will throw his ball for him. 😎 Nice attention to details!
To possibly break a layer of ice on the water?
Roodle needs his full fur coat
I totally agree 👍 We are currently letting him grow back his natural coat. We have been putting his coat on as well. Now if we could keep him from laying in the snow 😂
@@oneadVANtureatatime I have 2 English creme goldens, I know of what you speak. You can't keep em from laying, digging , just getting snow covered, they love it. Safe travels my friends.
