It was more of an omission than an error. Oksana made several errors. I could never understand why those were overlooked. But I think that no one is impartial. So, this kind of competition, will always have subjective opinions. And the countries on the west of the iron curtain will defende the competitors of that side and the countries on the east their side. That is why may be I prefer the competitions where you make a score and noone can deny it. But in these kind of competitions, there will always be parciality. That is why I believe that the judges should be of more imparcial countries and never, never, never of the countries of the competitors.
If all of the judges were fair and impartial, I believe very strongly that Nancy Kerrigan would have won the gold medal. This is one of the videos that is fair to Nancy. It explains a lot of what I already knew. The ones who make most of the remarks here are based on lies, gossip, and a tabloid press that was out of control. I think all of the judges had to ask themselves "Do we give Nancy the gold because of the infamous accident or do we judge?" I don't think that was a reality Nancy came to the Olympics excepting to face and maybe never has. Having said that it's important to remember that being assaulted is very traumatic but Nancy didn't have time to deal with any of that trauma during that time. She focused on working hard to compete in the Olympics. These nasty remarks that came so soon after her attack could have been her projecting those emotions that she normally would have tried to hold in. The tricky part is that Nancy has been known to act with an entitled air about her all these years later.
The Olympics '94 ladies skating result may be one of the biggest injustices/tragedies ever in sports, but the reality is going by the performances and abilities that night, the whole thing was a non-issue. It wasn't Nancy vs. Oksana, but more like Nancy vs. Lu. Going by the performances that night, Oksana was not even Top 5. She made clear jumping errors, lower tech. content, and her program was not balanced, shaky, rushed, too much posing in the center, too juvenile, and simply Oksana outgrew that program. Judges should've considered this in her artistic impression mark. No contest that night. It was about Nancy and Lu, with Yuka Sato being third best that night. Tanja Szewczenko even skated better than Oksana, but she didn't have a "sad" story to go with it.

It was East vs. West. These judges in the 1994 Olympics were still fighting the cold war. Nancy clearly won and the western judges even had her 1st.The five eastern judges did not deduct for Oksana's obvious mistakes. The four western judges did and two of them even placed her 3rd behind Chen Lu of China. I don't believe anything was honest about their scoring.The East German judge, and I can say that because he used to skate for East Germany when there were two Germanys, was handing us a lot of BS.I never believed it then and I don't believe it now. There were four other eastern judges that had already rigged their scores. This was to focus all of the attention on him and away from the other four. Nancy Kerrigan won that gold medal. It was more of an omission than an error. Oksana made several errors. I could never understand why those were overlooked. Why was Nancy’s one double such a huge deal, but no one ever mentions Oksana’s errors.
I think Oksana was absolutely lovely.Honestly, the gold medal destroyed Oksana’s life. If she had won silver, she would have stayed amateur and maybe wouldn’t have spiraled out of control. The fame and fortune without the right support system was too much.

Oksana's ending had a two foot landing and a weak double double. She always had trouble with combination jumps. Nancy won this gold medal and I am continuously blaming those five Communist judges for rigging it. How could Oksana lose with those five? It was automatic and there was no other way to put it.

In this Olympics there was none. Very unfortunate that the Communist countries had a majority of 5 and they always vote as a bloc and did here costing Nancy Kerrigan the gold medal. The British ,Canadian, American, and Japanese gave a fair score, but the Ukraine, Polish, Czechoslovakian ,and a holdover who skated for the East German team from a united Germany ganged up to give it to Oksana Baiul from the Ukraine. Nancy really outskated Oksana, but what gets me even more are these people that have formed a very bad hatred for Nancy based on the gossipy tabloids who love to tear people down say all these things that are just plain lies. The Canadian and British judges even placed Oksana 3rd and maybe they were right. I know one thing and that is Nancy Kerrigan was cheated out of the gold. They take small things and blow them way out of proportion. They even say she hated being in the Disney World Parade, but I know and it says it in this video that she just didn't want to wear the medal during the parade. You can see her mother and Mickey Mouse handing her the medal, but she reluctantly wears it. The gossipy people cut her off and only listen to the part they want to hear. But I think that no one is impartial. So, this kind of competition, will always have subjective opinions. And the countries on the west of the iron curtain will defende the competitors of that side and the countries on the east their side. That is why may be I prefer the competitions where you make a score and noone can deny it. But in these kind of competitions, there will always be parciality. That is why I believe that the judges should be of more imparcial countries and never, never, never of the countries of the competitors.
If all of the judges were fair and impartial, I believe very strongly that Nancy Kerrigan would have won the gold medal. This is one of the videos that is fair to Nancy. It explains a lot of what I already knew. The ones who make most of the remarks here are based on lies, gossip, and a tabloid press that was out of control. They hate her and make up a lot of what they say and comes from their first impression of her that were totally false. They don't pay any attention to what this video explains. They are very biased and will never change. The Communist bloc always voted as a bloc only this time they were in a majority. I have seen exceptions as in the 1991 World championships Tonya Harding received a perfect 6.0 from the Chinese judge, but three Americans finished with Kristy Yamaguchi winning the gold, Tonya Harding winning the silver and Nancy Kerrigan winning the bronze. I think all of the judges had to ask themselves "Do we give Nancy the gold because of the infamous accident or do we judge?" I don't think that was a reality Nancy came to the Olympics excepting to face and maybe never has. Having said that it's important to remember that being assaulted is very traumatic but Nancy didn't have time to deal with any of that trauma during that time. She focused on working hard to compete in the Olympics. These nasty remarks that came so soon after her attack could have been her projecting those emotions that she normally would have tried to hold in. The tricky part is that Nancy has been known to act with an entitled air about her all these years later.

The Olympics '94 ladies skating result may be one of the biggest injustices/tragedies ever in sports, but the reality is going by the performances and abilities that night, the whole thing was a non-issue. It wasn't Nancy vs. Oksana, but more like Nancy vs. Lu. Going by the performances that night, Oksana was not even Top 5. She made clear jumping errors, lower tech. content, and her program was not balanced, shaky, rushed, too much posing in the center, too juvenile, and simply Oksana outgrew that program. Judges should've considered this in her artistic impression mark. No contest that night. It was about Nancy and Lu, with Yuka Sato being third best that night. Tanja Szewczenko even skated better than Oksana, but she didn't have a "sad" story to go with it.

It was East vs. West. These judges in the 1994 Olympics were still fighting the cold war. Nancy clearly won and the western judges even had her 1st.The five eastern judges did not deduct for Oksana's obvious mistakes. The four western judges did and two of them even placed her 3rd behind Chen Lu of China. I don't believe anything was honest about their scoring.The East German judge, and I can say that because he used to skate for East Germany when there were two Germanys, was handing us a lot of BS.I never believed it then and I don't believe it now. There were four other eastern judges that had already rigged their scores. This was to focus all of the attention on him and away from the other four. Nancy Kerrigan won that gold medal. Things are always taken out of context and her teammates say just the opposite than what a lot of you are saying here. I could tell she was so unhappy the next day and that was what he meant by saying if she's unhappy you're going to know it. The rest of you jump to too many conclusions and add so much hatred it is a shame.

It was the technical merit that screwed her out of the gold and those 5r commie cheats. They scored it the way they have always done in past competition. They have a duty to cheat the American.
