Probably the greatest intro ever, and what a performance from the greatest rock performer we've been blessed with, thank you Jim and Meat,God bless, now go and rock heaven xx
don't you just love that old guy close to stage tapping his hands all in music, an old fan, love to watch this video to see him, thanks wario for all the uploads, what would we do or look without you
Meat Loaf hasn't been Meat Loaf since Bat out of Hell... he was close with Bat II. He was amazing, but... he is an instrument. An instrument that only Jim Steinman knows how to play.
What a voice! I never appreciated it when he first hit the scene, but damn - the guy could've even been an opera singer. I am a classicaly trained musician and I don't say that lightly! :-) Thanks for posting!
TakersMissy yeah, Jim Steinman, the songwriter behind Meatloaf, wouldn't work with him for years because he destroyed his voice. Bat Out of Hell 2 came out 16 years later because of that.
That definitely wasn't the main reason, Dead Ringer came out 4 years after '77 Bat Out of Hell, that was because of the voice and you can even hear that on the album (slightly). Meat was in a great vocal condition in the mid 80s imho and late 80s were when the works on BAT 2 started
@@offthewallsk818 not the true case my friend he left singing for 16 years because he didnt like the business and what it became, he didnt want to become a superstar so fast, he just wanted to play and not be so famous so quick, of course his health was a small issue, but look up him with Larry King interview
I hope to God, anyone watching this has actually seen this guy live. Unreal I am so glad you kept on Meatloaf, and didn't keep your wonderful music from us all. Thank you!!
This was an awesome performance he is losing his power nowadays getting older, but he has left a real mark on music i could listen to him all day..MEAT LOAF FOREVER!!!!
Of course he did it better in '77. I bought the album on the day it was released. he was 30 yrs old THEN (born in '47), he's 66 yrs old NOW. Give him a break.

Bat Out of Hell Song by Jim Steinmann Actor: Meat Loaf The sirens are screaming, and the fires are howling Way down in the valley tonight There's a man in the shadows with a gun in his eye And a blade shining oh so bright There's evil in the air and there's thunder in the sky, And a killer's on the bloodshot streets And down in the tunnels where the deadly are rising Oh, I swear I saw a young boy down in the gutter He was starting to foam in the heat Oh, baby you're the only thing in this whole world That's pure and good and right And wherever you are and wherever you go There's always gonna be some light, But I gotta get out, I gotta break out now Before the final crack of dawn So we gotta make the most of our one night together When it's over, you know, We'll both be so alone Like a bat out of hell I'll be gone when the morning comes When the night is over, like a bat out of hell, I'll be gone, gone, gone Like a bat out of hell I'll be gone when the morning comes But when the day is done And the sun goes down And the moonlight's shining through Then like a sinner before the gates of Heaven I'll come crawling on back to you I'm gonna hit the highway like a battering ram On a silver-black phantom bike When the metal is hot, and the engine is hungry And we're all about to see the light Nothing ever grows in this rotting old hole, And everything is stunted and lost And nothing really rocks, and nothing really rolls, And nothing's ever worth the cost Well I know that I'm damned if I never get out, And maybe I'm damned if I do, But with every other beat I've got left in my heart, You know I want to be damned with you If I gotta be damned, you know I want to be damned Dancing through the night with you/ Well if I gotta be damned, you know I want to be damned, Gotta be damned, you know I want to be damned Gotta be damned, you know I want to be damned Dancing through the night, Dancing through the night, Dancing through the night with you Oh, baby you're the only thing in this whole world That's pure and good and right And wherever you are and wherever you go There's always gonna be some light, But I gotta get out, I gotta break out now Before the final crack of dawn So we gotta make the most of our one night together When it's over, you know, We'll both be so alone Like a bat out of hell I'll be gone when the morning comes When the night is over, like a bat out of hell, I'll be gone, gone, gone Like a bat out of hell I'll be gone when the morning comes But when the day is done And the sun goes down And the moonlight's shining through Then like a sinner before the gates of Heaven I'll come crawling on back to you Then like a sinner before the gates of Heaven I'll come crawling on back to you Well I can see myself tearing up the road, faster Than any other boy has ever gone And my skin is raw, but my soul is ripe, And no one's gonna stop me now, I'm gonna make my escape But I can't stop thinking of you, And I never see the sudden curve until it's way too late And I never see the sudden curve until it's way too late Then I'm down in the bottom of a pit in the blazing sun, Torn and twisted at the foot of a burning bike, And I think somebody somewhere must be tolling a bell And the last thing I see is my heart, still beating, Breaking out of my body and flying away Like a bat out of hell Then I'm down in the bottom of a pit in the blazing sun, Torn and twisted at the foot of a burning bike, And I think somebody somewhere must be tolling a bell And the last thing I see is my heart, Still beating still beating Still beating still beating Breaking out of my body, and flying away Like a bat out of hell Oh, like a bat out of hell Oh, like a bat out of hell Oh, like a bat out of hell (I'll be gone when the morning comes) Oh, like a bat out of hell (I'll be gone when the morning comes) Oh, like a bat out of hell

+mike loder The venue and how good the sound system is has a lot to do with it. He was amazing here in the 90s. He has got a bit past it now though and can't put on the unbelievable concerts he used to.
If you wanna hear an album identical live performance of a song just listen to the album. Meat purposefully changes the songs up to keep them fresh. Plus hes aged and your voice changes.

Always did like this version of the band. Tom Brislin was the best pianist the group ever had (Paul Jacobs comes close but during his era wasn't really put to the test, no Heaven Can Wait, for example), and Kasim's arrangements were always spot on. The version of Paradise on Storytellers, for example, may be my favourite live version of that song ever. With so many live recordings of Meat the NLE make it or break it, but they're not often discussed. Anyway, great version, great song, great band.
Ever consider the fact that this performance was clearly edited in post production? Odds are Meat played it exactly the same way he has since 78... but it was edited down for time. Blame editors, Not Meat
Well obviously Todd goes without saying. I also saw Paul Crook tour with Meat here in New Zealand and I thought he was great. I actually already respected him a great deal from his work with Anthrax, he played on one of their best albums Stomp 442. Amazing where some of these guitarists end up. Funniest one for me was seeing Andy Timmons, guitar virtuoso with hair metal band Danger Danger appear live on stage with Olivia Newton John when she toured NZ. I was pretty shocked at that one.

like i said in my previous comments i understand a live version is meant to sound different. i think his voice actually hasn't changed much it's just that because of his stage musical background he tends to improvise vocal melodies depending on how he feels at the time which ruins the song from the point of view of a live rock performance. Not really, Paul. My favourites are Meat Loaf, Anastacia, AC/DC, REM, Mel C, Bon Jovi, Whaitsnake, Metallica and a good few more. For me, it's all about being able to put on a good show live and have good music. I am not tied to one particular style.
One of the great talents in Rock history!
This is my favourite version, that man has the power in his voice to bring me to tears everytime!
!!!Should be in Hall of Fame
One of the greatest music numbers of all time
This is actually one of my favorite Meat Loaf songs.
Why isnt Meat Loaf inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame yet?
Meat deserves his own hall.
Because he doesn’t sing rap and rap isn’t rock. Rap sucks. Meatloaf should be in the Rock-N- Roll hall of fame

This electifying live performance remembers why I have been a Meat Loaf fan for over 35 years. Absolute perfection.

Bat Out of Hell
Song by Jim Steinmann
Actor: Meat Loaf
The sirens are screaming, and the fires are howling
Way down in the valley tonight
There's a man in the shadows with a gun in his eye
And a blade shining oh so bright
There's evil in the air and there's thunder in the sky,
And a killer's on the bloodshot streets
And down in the tunnels where the deadly are rising
Oh, I swear I saw a young boy down in the gutter
He was starting to foam in the heat
Oh, baby you're the only thing in this whole world
That's pure and good and right
And wherever you are and wherever you go
There's always gonna be some light,
But I gotta get out, I gotta break out now
Before the final crack of dawn
So we gotta make the most of our one night together
When it's over, you know,
We'll both be so alone
Like a bat out of hell I'll be gone when the morning comes
When the night is over, like a bat out of hell, I'll be gone, gone, gone
Like a bat out of hell I'll be gone when the morning comes
But when the day is done
And the sun goes down
And the moonlight's shining through
Then like a sinner before the gates of Heaven
I'll come crawling on back to you
I'm gonna hit the highway like a battering ram
On a silver-black phantom bike
When the metal is hot, and the engine is hungry
And we're all about to see the light
Nothing ever grows in this rotting old hole,
And everything is stunted and lost
And nothing really rocks, and nothing really rolls,
And nothing's ever worth the cost
Well I know that I'm damned if I never get out,
And maybe I'm damned if I do,
But with every other beat I've got left in my heart,
You know I want to be damned with you
If I gotta be damned, you know I want to be damned
Dancing through the night with you/
Well if I gotta be damned, you know I want to be damned,
Gotta be damned, you know I want to be damned
Gotta be damned, you know I want to be damned
Dancing through the night,
Dancing through the night,
Dancing through the night with you
Oh, baby you're the only thing in this whole world
That's pure and good and right
And wherever you are and wherever you go
There's always gonna be some light,
But I gotta get out, I gotta break out now
Before the final crack of dawn
So we gotta make the most of our one night together
When it's over, you know,
We'll both be so alone
Like a bat out of hell I'll be gone when the morning comes
When the night is over, like a bat out of hell, I'll be gone, gone, gone
Like a bat out of hell I'll be gone when the morning comes
But when the day is done
And the sun goes down
And the moonlight's shining through
Then like a sinner before the gates of Heaven
I'll come crawling on back to you
Then like a sinner before the gates of Heaven
I'll come crawling on back to you
Well I can see myself tearing up the road, faster
Than any other boy has ever gone
And my skin is raw, but my soul is ripe,
And no one's gonna stop me now, I'm gonna make my escape
But I can't stop thinking of you,
And I never see the sudden curve until it's way too late
And I never see the sudden curve until it's way too late
Then I'm down in the bottom of a pit in the blazing sun,
Torn and twisted at the foot of a burning bike,
And I think somebody somewhere must be tolling a bell
And the last thing I see is my heart, still beating,
Breaking out of my body and flying away
Like a bat out of hell
Then I'm down in the bottom of a pit in the blazing sun,
Torn and twisted at the foot of a burning bike,
And I think somebody somewhere must be tolling a bell
And the last thing I see is my heart,
Still beating still beating
Still beating still beating
Breaking out of my body, and flying away
Like a bat out of hell
Oh, like a bat out of hell
Oh, like a bat out of hell
Oh, like a bat out of hell (I'll be gone when the morning comes)
Oh, like a bat out of hell (I'll be gone when the morning comes)
Oh, like a bat out of hell
