    Silicone is what is applied to the surface of the module before installing it. The silicone is an insulator for the heat sink to distribute heat from the modular.

    The silicone is NOT an insulator :) It dissipates (transfers) the heat from the module and transfers it back to distributor to keep module from over-heating :)

    Try changing the egr vacuum solenoid that fixed my stutter when taking off

      I’m glad that helped! Unfortunately in my case I did change that and it didn’t seem to fix the issue. I ended up carburetor swapping the truck and she’s been running great ever since.

    I’m getting code 42 but everything is running fine no symptoms of anything. I read this can be the culprit but most times truck dies or runs poorly. So idk. Only thing is sometimes when I go to start it just clicks then I’ll do it a couple more times and it starts. But that sounds like a bad ignition switch.

      Interesting, who knows I don’t think it would be too complicated to diagnose because these trucks are relatively simple compared to anything modern. Good luck with your issue!

      @@nickconnors8515 thank you, I replaced the starter and now it starts every time. As far as the code, it’s still there. No drivability issues so I’ll just leave it lol.

      It could be electrical, or I’ve heard that sometimes the thermal paste from the parts stores is bad and it gets too hot and goes out. I’ve heard using aftermarket thermal paste is better than the included stuff. I had good luck with the parts store stuff but hard to say.

    My truck turns on then turns off it won't idle any suggestions. If i unplug the coolant temp sensor it will idle but as soon as i plug it in it dies out

    • @nickconnors8515
      @nickconnors8515  Місяць тому

      I would try to see if you can test the coolant sensor in another way, maybe resistance or something. It sounds like the sensor is bad but I spent months throwing parts at this truck and wasted a lot of money so I would suggest trying to test and diagnose as much as possible. Coolant temp sensors aren’t that expensive and most parts stores do have them in stock still.

    Always go with original OEM replacements, especially when it comes to the electronics. Definitely not duralast. Any real mechanic would should know that

      True, I’ve never had any terrible luck with autozone but throughout my short time of fixing things I’ve heard people recommend against it. Thank you for the advice!
