I have been having car problems forever (it feels like) my mechanic is fixing my fuel pump this week. However today for the first time the "Engine power reduced" light came on which lead me google what that was, which lead me to your video on youtube. All i can say is thank you for making this! I feel so informed now :) after monthsss of worrying and trying to fix it i feel so much better now and i feel like i have an idea what to do next after feeling helpless for so long. THANK YOU!
This is the exact problem I had with my Holden Equinox at 45,000 kms. I had to leave it in Newcastle after driving from Melbourne. Very disappointing after only having the vehicle for about 3 weeks!!
I’m driving a 2024 Equinox rental vehicle. I was at an intersection and when I got on a highway and sped up to get to the speed limit I got this engine reduced power message pop up. I also saw an engine light blinking. The pop up message and the engine light disappeared in about 3 minutes. I’m really concerned and also shocked since it’s a 2024 model. I have the rental for 25 more days and I’m traveling through several states so driving back to the airport where I picked it up would be such a hassle.
I have a question, I have a 2018 Chevy equinox. I was driving down the interstate today and ran over a big strap with a metal knuckle that fell off a semi. after I ran it over I got the reduced power message. I did a visual inspection and nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. Can I just disconnect the battery or what would you suggest checking for running something over?
Hi there, managed to solve the issue? Since you already did a visual inspection and everything seems to be in order. Yes you can try disconnecting the battery and see it it comes back, alternatively you can use an OBD scanner to clear fault codes and see if it returns. Please let me know how it goes. Goodluck!
I found out it put a hole in my inter cooler. The car shop wanted $1,000 to fix it. I bought the part off Amazon for $140 and put it on myself (took about 1 hours)
There are 2 fuel pumps . I have had all of these things replaced, including a map sensor. I’ve even replaced some things twice, and it did not fix my problem. So, if you have a 2011 Chevy equinox, and it’s saying “engine power reduced” try replacing both fuel pumps, (the high pressure one, and the one in the tank) the leveler and sensor is on the one in the tank. I had another brand fuel pump in the tank and it was said to be leaking pressure back into the fuel tank. This was the diagnosis from a Chevrolet dealership. (However they have misdiagnosed it 3 times) so I went back and got the adelco brand. What I learned though is that there is a difference in the connectors, with other brands. So watch that too. The one I have now is the GM/Adelco brand. It has 7 connectors. I hope that fixes the problem. To add, I also replaced the fuel rail sensor as well.. but the problem continued.. Also another problem that may error message that may come with it is “service stabilitrak”. The dealership replaced the wheel hubs and Vss sensors. I don’t know if that was necessary however bc when the car continued to reduce the engine power it continued to say to service stabilitrak, after they supposedly fixed it. I’ve even replaced the battery because the dealership said with these vehicles when the battery is bad it will throw all kinds of codes. However the problem continued.
One thing i dont understand, why has many gas cars not a fuel filter nowadays? It has, but it is in the fuel tank, and therefore will not be replaced unless fuel pump is removed. Before it was often mounted on a gas feed line under the car and easy to replace.
I also preferred it the old way, however, This design shift is driven by the need for durability, space efficiency, reduced contamination risk, cost considerations, and compliance with environmental regulations. With improved fuel quality and advancements in filter technology, these internal filters are designed to last the vehicle's lifetime, reducing the need for frequent replacements. Although this integration simplifies the fuel system's design and manufacturing, it can make filter replacements more labor-intensive and costly, as access typically requires dropping the fuel tank or going through an access panel.

Where is the high press fuel pump located on 2018 equinox?

Hey, what they end up doing to solve the issue ? I’m facing the same thing
Would it be better to go to the dealership or just a local mechanic

Same thing happened to me today , hit a tire on the freeway and this popped up . Did disconnecting the battery work ?

@@HonestMechanicChannelmakes sense. Environmental push through laws arent always a better way.
What if your car isn't giving ANY codes after doing this?
