Man....Aretha hitting that big note over the sound of Aerosmith was enough to give me chills.
Love this song. And adore Aretha! Plus fun fact. She worked with and loved Duane Allman! Rip Aretha. There is none like you!
That's what i thought
Every. Damn. Time.
At 0:46 I watched/listened to that part over and over and over!!! Powerful!
GOD DAMN IM ALIVE!!! Thank u sir.
So did you have to take your mixing board down to the crossroads at midnight or something to gain your unnatural abilities or something?
Bill McJohnson
Witchcraft he has mastered 🎶
@@pgtersch2822 I'd be totally down with it if Bill managed to mix some Robert Johnson with something.
Peter Green was having a bad acid trip while listening to Hellhound on my trail when he came up with the Green Manalishi
Should have known Ol' Scratch had something to do with this! 🤔
He's down at the Grand 'Ol Poppery
this proves 2 wonderful things:
-Aretha could've been a sensational hard rock singer
-Many Aerosmith songs have a strong soul/funk foundation
She would have KILLED as a hard rock singer!! Her belting was both powerful and clean! That high E she hit (several times) was stratospheric!!
More the first one
I feel like Aretha could have been sensational in any genre.
Since rock, soul, and funk are all blues based, the crossover potential has always been there.
3 - rock without soul is souless
No other voice but the Queen of Soul could sing above those heavy guitar riffs - perfect mix
Still waiting for VH1 to produce "Behind the Music: Bill McClintock". Hopefully this year!
to be watched on UA-cam....who even has VH1 anymore....right?
He has already made it. It's on his Patreon.
Lol that would be fantastic
@@WayneInBlood i do for real. I have a bunch of 80s and 90s movies that still work.
@@eligebrown8998 VH1 is not VHS lol
the blessed Don Cornelius introducing this song is the cherry on top of this amazing song.
These videos also demonstrate just how similar and recycled a lot of our favorites tones are used. I'm not complaining, just marveling.
Not tones.
Rhythms and timing.
This man doesn’t just do mashups….he creates new musical genres! That’s how amazing he is!
No lies detected
That's what I told Bill !!! We're all witness of this new Music Genre, Hybridcore, Bill liked it. Spread the word...AWESOME !!!
One of the founders of Soul Metal
Indeed!
@@tonycortes1777, Hybridcore it is!!!😄
When Aretha starts hollerin and the guitar kicks in I get goosebumps
I stopped saying "This one is the best" because I keep coming upon another one worthy of the "best" title
I won't stop saying that Bill is a genius.
Maybe just say "This is another Bill!"
This one's great, but ever since Ain't No Shadow Dark Enough I think I've settled on a favorite.
Agree 😂, he keeps making brilliant stuff!
experiencing that feeling... now 🤯💞🎵
I don't throw the word "genius" around lightly, but you are 100% correct.
I said this in a comment on another of Bill’s videos but it bears repeating. I played Bill’s channel at a recent backyard BBQ and a lot of my guests were really confused. The way these mashups are constructed so seamlessly and organically, they sound so natural and right, people were literally wondering “is this how this song actually goes and I just never noticed it before?”
You're totally a G for that, man! You have a standing invite to my cookouts!
Great idea.
And I simply replied, "Yes. Yes it is!"
This channel was they best curiosity click I've ever done
Soul rock alchemy at its finest. Love when she goes into her soul howl just as the rhythm guitars kick into gear.
Pure genius, that bit.
@@AndreasK906 yeah he always adds two or three extras that make me snort.
Don Cornelius and his awesome Afro are the cherry on top of this tasty sundae.
Best comment on here! L O L and there are some good ones! :-)
Oh my gosh. Her vocals rising like a tidal wave over the electric guitars makes me think we will never see another female vocalist like Aretha Franklin. She could've been a rock goddess.
This is the world I grew up in, great music tears down the walls of color and ethnicity, do not let the people who wish us divided win.
Hell yeah
We're all different pieces of the same puzzle. Saying that, Bill just found two pieces that fit.
Amen
@@Enceladus... well said
"This is the world I grew up in"
not the world they grew up in
Aretha's "Whoa" over the riff does it for me. Excellent
I'll never get tired of this.
What I was seeing on the video when Steven Tyler was singing "Stand in the front just a shakin' your ass" LITERALLY made me spit out my brandy. That was both hilarious and brilliant at the same time!
I think that was a turning point in my life.
You know Bill hisself had to have been grinning putting that together. 😁
This is by far Bill’s best one in my humble opinion
I agree, there's something about Aretha's clear, powerful voice combined with the strong guitar riff that makes me replay the song over and over without getting tired. It happens quite often with Bill's mashups, but this one is probably my favourite.
I still get a kick out of the crowd dancing with the rock beat..so damn funny 😁😂
🎩 Another top-shelf outing that *nobody* else could have imagined.
this is perfection!!
This guy never fails to Impress me !!!!!!
LITERALLY get chills when Aretha is screaming!!! ABSOLUTE SOUL to my core!!!!! Great job once again!
Up in Heaven these types of performances are going on all the time
@Buddy Mack, they must be amazing. Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin and Freddie Mercury on vocals, Randy Rhoads and Eddie Van Halen on dual lead guitars, Chris Squire and Jaco Pastorius on bass, Keith Moon and John Bonham on drums and percussion.
@@thudor1 no love for Prince?
@@DetroitStorm That's another band.
@@Timberwolf69 Prince, Bowie, and Lemmy?
@@DetroitStorm Yeah, and Neil Peart.
Two of my most favourite of favourites! Not to mention that Edgar Winter and Rick Derringer are in this as well. As Miriam Margoles said on the Graham Norton Show: "I creamed my knickers!"
Ever time I think, “this is it, he’s made his masterpiece.” Then you release the next one.
What do you expect from the grandmaster of crossovers?
Even the stuff that doesn't make the cut is good enough to make someone look like a master...
How does McClintock not have a million subscribers yet?
It's possible most of the kids that use youtube haven't even heard of the songs that he mashes together.
He requires a refined palate.
Not everyone is thirsty.
It boggles the mind!
YT unsubscribes people from subversive channels.
Another mind blowing mashup, using Rick Derringer riffs in there was amazing. This whole concept is kinda mind blowing. This artist very talented at what he does.
You have to both love music and have an encyclopedic knowledge of it to pull this off - well done 👍🏼
Rick Derringer!
i was stumped who played the cameo solo in this gem!
once again; 🤯🤣🤘
What a true BLAST this would have been if this collaboration have happened in reality back in 1975.
All it would've needed was one producer with a vision and all of popular musics history
would have turned out completely different from todays. It's mindboggling just to think about it.
This and several of the soul rock and soul metal mashups make it quite clear how much influence soul and R&B had, especially among the older rockers who most likely grew up listening to fair share of soul and blues.
That bridge hit me like a truck every time. Heavenly
I am a born musician from a musical family. This just warms my heart because I was told by generations before me is that all music is tied together and it’s universal and can be mixed together to bring us all together. ❤️❤️.
There is a groove just below the surface of all that is seen and experienced externally in this life.
And from that internal place, way down deep, comes a rhythm straight from God.
Some are able to channel that groove energy from time to time and thus a hit songs are born.
These mashups are proof.
You have proof of that right here!!
This is freakin awesome!! You get to listen to all the music you got sick of freshened up.
Great genre blending. 5 x5
Aretha's voice when they hit the first big change at 0:46 - so good! This mashup is truly a splendid wonder, thank you!
THAT IS THUNDER ⛈️⛈️⛈️⛈️⛈️ GODDESS ARETHA FRANKLIN FOR SHO ...& IS THAT I'M HEARING RICK DERRINGER OVER YONDER WIT DA LIGHTNING ⚡⚡⚡ ⚡ ⚡⚡⚡ ???????
IS THIS THE TRUE AEROSMITH OF ASGARD I HEARD TOLD ????
Soireny yurk yurk yurk
LOLOL
I can't believe how perfectly Aretha's iconic howl lays over Joe Perry's iconic guitar riff
"Babe, Bill McClintock has a new-"
*Wife pushes play*
@Censorship Sucks3 💯
@Censorship Sucks3 No, trying to push you out of the way is a waste of time. Instead, she simply reaches around and pushes the button. She might steal (one of) your earbuds, though.
Hahaha
Your wife is more open-minded than mine is.
@censorship sucks5 so lame… what happened I can’t even remember the original comment.
Aretha's time was so good she even claps on beat to a mashup.
This is a new type of musicianship. Marvelous, fun and moving.
Bill McClintock for president!!!
I've always known that Aretha rocked, but I didn't know that you could get her to rock like this!
The guy is a genius
The Aerosmith/Aretha mix was mind blowing…. But then throwing in the Derringer lead? Daaaamn! Outstanding!
I'm a rocker. Aretha brings tears
After listening the Bill's mashups for God knows how many years now, I have finally come to the conclusion that this is the greatest masterpiece the Earth has ever had the pleasure to hear. Also there are a few dozen close seconds on his playlist...
You know the algorithms are failing when im hust now discovering this amazing channel
It took me 2 years longer! I’m quite upset at UA-cam for this!
Yes man! All the fckn yeses!!! You're reinventing the game!
I just found him today .. Hooked 2 many Greats
Just found this amazing channel. It puts all the lotion in the basket
How does does Bill do this??? He must be a wizard!!!
Aretha is a metal singer at heart!!🤘🤘🤘
1:43 That breakdown has me in my feelings right now!
Man I haven’t enjoyed a UA-cam channel like this I guess never. Blown away by his talent please keep ‘em coming
Most underrated performer ..ever. amazing
Your soul/rock mashups are legendary and could create world peace.
This just is beyond words.
Only been up for 5 minutes and already has a downvote. These mashups Bill creates cannot be easy and You just casually downvote it?
Okay, so who was it?
We demand an explanation.
We will cast them out, to the lamentations of their women
Cross/Crooked eyed folks
They must be dealt with severely.
@@jamesmcswain8120 No! No! If he cast a down vote...throw him to the wolves, poison his well, lay waste to his field and make ME your woman!
I truly love most of Bill's mashups, because other than all the other mashup artists I heard, he knows how to lay the small climaxes of the used songs on top of each other. That being said, I have to admit that I did not find my personal access to this creation here yet. But that's my problem, and I still have dozens of Bill's mashups I love to choose from.
And I would never downvote it for that.
The possibilities are endless. I've never seen work this excellent before.
This one is off the charts Bill! You worked in the VOCALS for BOTH songs this time. This is gonna be one of my top "McClintock Masterpieces" of all time.
This blends perfectly. Who is this genius Bill McClintock ?
Babe wake up new McClintock mix
Yep, it's got the Boston funk and the Motown swing. Call it Classic Rock Reborn. Perfect.
And just like that, I've found the song I'm dancing to at my wedding!
Congratulations! 🥳🤘🏽
If you don't post video it will be considered a criminal act....🤣
That guitar solo is from R&R Hoochie Koo!! AWESOME
Holy maple bacon cupcakes Bill, you never fail to just cause my jaw to drop...while I'm gettin down! And the Soul Train clip is FIERCE! Dude, you are a freaking wizard.
My jaw is wide open to the sheer genius and joyous sounds on this one!
Aretha’s definitely looking down from the pearly gates and getting a kick out of this 😂
Ladies and gentlemen, Rick Derringer on the lead guitar!!
Second I heard the first notes of the riff I was like "no way!"
Rock an Roll hotchie koo. I learned that solo 1975-ish. Johnny Winter cameo. God we are dinasours.
Edgar, actually. He had such a band!
I literally like this better than either of the originals.
that's when you know is a good one....
Mother's Finest needs to add this to the playlist and several others. They have been Soul, Rock, Metal Fusion since the 70's!! AND STILL AT IT
Dude Bill is rethinking it all ! Even when we didn't know we needed it !!
It always amazes me that songs that shouldn't work together somehow do.
They actually DO work together. The genius of Bill is he sees music theory and makes it come alive, within the universe of pop.
Once again, Bill delivers! It’s crazy how well these songs go together! ❤
... and once again, the completely unexpected guitar solo from out of nowhere. Well done sir.
This is Bill's best one yet. I still have about 60 to go,but this and "Ain't Talkin Bout Mental Health Now" are 1 and 2.
Most people think of "Walk This Way" with Run-DMC as Aerosmith's first foray into collaboration with other artists. However, they're forgetting about this classic gem with The Queen of Soul.
🤣
Right? Almost like it never existed!
And yea, from up on high, the Angel Don Cornelius looked down upon Bill McClintock, and he said, "Damn. That was FUNKY!"
With a special guest appearence by Rick Derringer! Another jaw dropping job well done Bill McClintock. Outstanding! 👍
bill, you brought the 60's/ 70's and the 80's into 21st century, just wow man !!@@!!
oops, i forgot too mention the 90's haha
Automatic Rocksmith playlist material...Bill, you and your bangers! Damn!
It really blows my mind that this channel doesn’t have millions of subscribers!! People are missing out on pure musical genius!
How dare you, I SAY how dare u,
to create masterpieces like these
, how can u delight our ears
every single time...God bless you
, Bill...! ☺🎵👍.
I will never click as fast on anything as how fast I click on Bill McClintock videos
Mr. Bill has done it again!! What a banger!
THIS is the Gold Standard in Combined Performances. Bill, YOU are a Got Damned Genius.
The verse sounds like it could be an actual early demo of Sweet Emotion. I could totally picture Steven Tyler singing a similar melody as he finds the final, harder melody and lyrics that made it onto the studio version. Genius!
This is about the most bad ass thing I have ever seen.
why does this work so well? absolutely banging!
Simply clever.
Simply brilliant 🫶
How fun would it be to start a band called "Bill McClintock and the Mashups" and perform nothing but all these gems!
only problem would be to find Steven Tyler and Aretha Franklin soundalikes...
Seriously keen. Have one small problem.....talent! God I reckon it would bring the house down each and every time.
*_OMG!_*
*Two* of my _FAVORITE_ songs!
_WITH_ the solo from Derringer's "Rock and Roll Hoochie Coo"? (ANOTHER of my favorites!)
*_WE'RE NOT WORTHY! WE'RE NOT WORTHY!_*
I *know* you ain't doing this with a pair of 1200s, but still, the dreaming up the idea of these is utter _GENIUS!_
I was a club/radio jock for 20 years. I was doing these back in the 80s, live, in a club, on turntables.
Here are a few of my favorites (The ones with rock songs, anyway):
****Tone Loc~Bust a Move (12" single remix) with Bananarama~All Right Now (I had three turntables, and two copies of Bust a Move. I started with Bust a Move, then, at the "Bring it down for me fellas" breakpoint, I kicked off with the dub/instrumental version at that same point, then began All Right Now. Then, flipped over the first Tone Loc 12', kicked in the dub/instrumental to have the length for All Right Now, then, took the 2nd Tone Loc 12" and flipped it back to the vocal remix, and brought it back in at the beginning of the "Break it down for me fellas" break, at the end of All Right Now. Then let the rest of Tone Loc play out and then mix off to another song at the end. So, I "interpolated" Bananarama into the break of the Tone Loc song. The crowds loved it.)
***Grand Funk Railroad~Locomotion with Information Society!~I Want To Know (Pure Energy) (12" single remix) (I started Grand Funk at the beginning of the Info Society break, then when the Grand Funk kicked into "...My little baby sister ..." I dumped all the way into it, then brought back Pure Energy at the end, again, "Interpolating" the Grand Funk song into the middle of Pure Energy. This remix has the Spock overdub of Leonard Nemoy saying "Pure Energy". If you mix it in correctly, it goes: "C'mon Baby, do the locomotion", (Drums) _duun-duun_ "Pure Energy", C'mon Baby, do the locomotion", (drums) _duun-duun_ "Pure Energy" and so on, at the beginning of the mix)
***SNAP!~The Power (12" single dub/instrumental remix) with The Eagles~Life In The Fastlane (This one is ***_really_* tricky, as the real drums on the Eagles track have a dynamic meter, and change tempo up/down throughout! So, Ya gotta learn where this happens and *ride* that pitch control! I would start the SNAP! song, but the instrumental version, which still has the female vocal "I got da power" at the beginning. Then surprise them with the Eagles mashup. Then with a second copy of The Power, mix _back_ into the vocal version at the end of the Eagles song, so they got a double whammy. The song was an anthem then, so they never seemed to mind 10 minutes of "The Power"-beats! Good times!)
I have more. And I'm not suggesting you do these, it's your channel. I just thought you'd get a kick out of them. If ya want some more, just lemme know!
Subscribed!
*_GREAT_* work man!
Soul Train dancers are in perfect time with Aerosmith ... what would have Don Cornelius made of this! Cool!
Love the additional “Free Ride” guitar solo.
Holy crap! I hadn't realized Aerosmith had worked with Aretha Franklin 10 years before their collaboration with Run-DMC.
Are you serious ?
It is said that God is most pleased when his children are at play and playing nicely with each other. This is what I truly believe to be the closest thing on this earth to that! Thanks Bill for these videos!!
Bill drank a beer and took a long drag of his cig after making this one 🤘🏼
Not a cig. A fat joint!
I agree. This guy creates new genres. Brilliantly edited and creative drops with background vocals. Hats off to you brother.
Hi Bill!! Your mashups are awesome!! I’m in a band Divas with a Twist, out of Boston featuring 5 lead women and we just did your Rock Emotion mashup!!! We love taking pop tunes and Classics and putting our own twist on them and then we found your page!!!!!
One of the Best Remixes that our Legend Bill Mc Has ever Done.
it’s nearly as good as the Motörhead & The James Brown Brotherhead Remix
Damn, he even got Rick Derringer in there! Masterful!
I'm always amazed how well soul and "modern" rock go together, then I'm reminded that blues and soul is what eventually became rock and roll. Emotional, groovy chants that externalize your feelings.
And Rick Derringer with the shredding solo. Amazing.
I wish my dad was still alive to hear these.
I’ve been thinking the same my dad, uncles and cousins! They would have thought these were perfection!
My 50+ son just sent this to me and I’m so glad he did! Just GREAT!
