This is a glorious machine! I'm a fan of this screen aspect ratio.
Nice to see 16 : 10 return.
Nice machine and quite repairable, the battery isn't glued down, and the keyboard can be replaced.
Lenovo does very very good in helping you out. I have their ThinkPad line in very high regard (besides some details on the new machines but times move forward).
Now back to the video.
Fun fact, this is the second machine they've ever sent me to test. 😎
the empty space in the cooling section is probably due to the fact that it has the same motherboard as T14
Great, honest review, as usual.
Thanks Ted!
Really love to see tgat the keyboard removal is easy as back in the days - taking tge whole boatd out to do so is a pain.... Another fantastic video my friend
Thanks Thomas, glad you enjoyed it.
Love your videos Dude but the font in the text overlay is very hard to read.
Yep, I'm actively looking for a good, retro-styled font to replace it that is more readable. I'm open to any suggestions you might have to make it easier to read. Reply with any font suggestions you might have.
Thinking about IBM Plex Sans Bold. What do you think?
If possible to compare different t series sizes and weights from 14 to 16.
The best thing to do would be to check the PSREF documents for the models you want to compare. It's pretty rare for me to have these newer devices all at once. It would be a neat problem to have. 😂
as guy who bought a used 2015 13 inch macbook pro last year and wants to upgrade to a thinkpad im very much interested in this model for the bigger battery option alone.
what kind of battery life can i expect from it. and if i chose the 86wh battery in the new t16 gen 2 which processor would give most battery life . also why isnt amd variants not coming with user upgradeable ram slots?
No idea why the AMD variant has soldered RAM. The processor will have some impact on battery life on the extreme ends of configurations but it will matter more how much it is pushed. You can kill a laptop quickly regardless of many factors if you push it really hard. The PSREF documents for both AMD and Intel has some estimates and testing conditions.
Why do you want to upgrade from a macbook to a thinkpad? Just curious.
will you review ThinkPad L16 G1 ?
If one ever shows up, I will!
@@LaptopRetrospective Great, thanks!
You're most welcome.
@@LaptopRetrospective If that would be possible, AMD would be ideal and with a gaming test of the Radeon 680M :)
I generally don't game test ThinkPads on the channel but we will see.
looks like a good deal cos 2 type c ports is hard to get on a budget
Good point. 👍
Many budget gaming laptops have 2 cpu /thunder and regular ports
Why are T series thinkpad slim now?
I think another way to approach the question is why would they need to be bigger? 🤔
the key travel looks very shallow

they shouldve sent you the g2 by this point
Maybe next time.
The newer Thinkpad Gen 2 has DDR5 instead of outdated DRR4
If you're talking about the T14 G2, they are running DDR4-3200.
