      @@fahrenheigh That is not true.
In the 'old world' style of living, the amount of work required to thrive fluctuated with the seasons and there are many tasks that require you to sit and wait, doing effectively nothing. That's one of the meanings of downtime in that context. For example, when you are grazing a herd of animals, you need to keep watch over them, but can't really do much else. Many people subsist on fish. What is the stereotypical image of fishing? Waiting.
Also, one of the main incentives of having large families was to reduce everyone's workload; the more children you had, the less everyone had to work. Because of the way modern society is structured, we have inverted that incentive so that Western (white) populations tend to view large families as financially burdensome, which is one of the reasons European populations are in decline.
From an economic perspective, most peasants of medieval Europe had much lower taxes than we do today.

Nobody can look up a restaurant or google a question they have- it would be super fun and it would be like a group experience for your friends. “No phone night” or something. Like why just roll over and be sad about something so myopic and insignificant? If it bothers you that much, do something else. We live in the golden age of self agency. In a few years, you might not even have the opportunity to put down whatever technology you’re bitching about in this decade. Do something about it. Generate your own New Culture. People in the 1920s and 30s got bored of traditional architecture so they made Art Deco. You’re a Christian, right? Start a new religious movement that regards the sacrosanct nature of Christ. He’s absolutely right about the old world. I was reading an article recently that said contrary to our modern image of medieval peasants toiling and suffering out these sad, short lives, they typically worked 5 or 8 hours a day in the morning and did this for only 5 months out of the year. Humanity, at least historically, spent a LOT of time doing whatever we wanted to do in our free time. We were left to social devises. I think there is a direct correlation to the loss of culture and the hyper-fixation on individual schedules in modernity. We all bustle about from dawn to dusk, we delegate the education of our fucking children to the state, we have day-cares and after-school programs for kids that would’ve basically been wandering around in pre-modernity or developing interpersonal relationships on their own terms… everything is very facilitated and manufactured and arranged these days. I’m not sure how much longer humanity is going to persist as it has historically, as the regime we currently live under in the West attempts to dissolve things like gender and language to permit more of this giving-up-of-all-self to work, education, facilitated media entertainment, video games etc. Everyone integrates into their little niche entertainment subculture. Communitarian values are being replaced with atomic individualism.

It's easier to believe that, but he died alone and that's the end of it. We don't get to pawn off humanities injustices on a creator. He died alone and abandoned, nothing saved him from that then and nothing has now. We failed a sick man and he is forever failed. Trying to believe that he somehow found happiness even after humanity denied him so is nothing but poor coping skills and makes you as delusional as he was.
We can't be alone so we turn to dieties as he did, but the truth is we are alone and we'll never fix the world when we add closure to injustices by pretending that outer space being can do that for us. Terries death has not been avenged society built by the religion that led him to madness still kills and abandons people like him everyday.
Grow up and face the world for what it is so we can actually make a difference in it. God didn't save him then and he hasn't now, he doesn't exist and if we keep pretending we'll never take responsibility.

I'm a 26 yo guy and I've been alone my whole life, like literally no friends neither any "common" social relationship whatsoever besides my parents who were always there but pretty much only to provide me food and vent their own problems to me.
As should be expected in cases like mine, my mental health is quite fucked up and amongst a lot of things, I can't make meaningful connections with people because I just can't believe it's real, like I truly can't. So, at some point I just stopped caring about social life and stuff, I realized that a lot of my worries about it were actually because everyone seemed to do things that I felt like I should do too but in the end, after isolating myself because I wanted to and not because I failed at doing what the other people do, I realized that I actually like being isolated from society...
I often see people saying that social relationships are one of the most important aspects of life, but I can't help but doubt if it's actually true for everyone, since from my own experience I know that I was way more miserable when I was going after that than now that I'm not... Is it really that bad to be alone if you truly enjoy it?

As a veteran in this area I can tell you. It becomes harder and harder with time. No matter how self-reliant you are psycologically, or how rich your inner world is, the human kind is by default tuned into social-mode. Eventually you need a form of connection with others, even if it's a mundane connection. Those who claim to "live in isolation" don't really do. They spend hours and hours everyday watching videos other people made and creating para-social relationships online, which is just a cheap substitute of real human interaction. Is the world we live in currently very degraded on an individual level? Yes.
But it is not feasable for most people (that includes self-reliant/introvert/etc) because part of your identity is built by your interaction with others, and lacking that interaction cripples your true identity as an individual.
It may seem feasable at 26, but when you're 36 you will most likely feel a lot more burdened and a lot less inclined to believe yoy can sustain that way of life forever.

The later stages of life tend to be lonely. Your time has past you, and the word is forgetting you. It is just part of the human life cycle. I see it happening to my parents.
It doesn't even matter what you do. It can't be prevented.
Why do you even want loads of friends? Usually that's something only vain self-absorbed people want in conjunction with an unyielding craving for attention.

    • @Floatabove
      @Floatabove 8 місяців тому +8

I’m working being content with being a loner instead of shaming myself for not having loads of friends or a “normal” family life. It’s definitely okay to be lonely and sad but I’ve realized that I have to do shit on my own and take responsibility of my life and stop the vicious cycle of self doubt that’s always been there. I want to blame everybody else but that’s not the way to go , even if there’s some truth in that. We hurt each other and talk bullshit because of our own problems. I’m very dependent on what others think and feel about me, a desperate need to be heard and understood. I’ve come to terms with that people generally are absorbed with themselves, sort of narcissistic behavior that’s a result of how modern society works. I don’t fit in, but at the same time I don’t want to. A simple life with authentic love and letting go of what once was. Forgive people, forgive yourself and let go. You don’t have to like them just forgive them. I want a peace of mind and put it up to god, it’s so easy too doubt any sort of belief in a higher power when you’ve been down and empty for a long time, and at the same time follow the crazy world from different social media platforms. It doesn’t make sense that god would let all of these bad stuff happen but a nihilistic world view is so toxic and drains you of any kind of meaning. I personally believe that god is love. At the end of the it’s that easy. We need to know what hell and pure evil is to know heaven and pure love is. You kind of owe yourself a life that you’re okay with, and not a life that’s based on what others think is good. It’s hard work with yourself and finding strategies to cope with life. Finding out who you truly are! Hope you’re having a decent day today!

I’ve been getting into works on metaphysics over the past several years. There’s a consistent theme in practically every book I’ve read where silence of mind is key to higher states of consciousness. The book “The Law Of One” explains it most comprehensively, IMO.
It explains that the Source is an infinite being, containing all potentialities simultaneously in perfect unity. The created universe is an exercise in the concepts of limitations and boundaries. In this universe, consciousness pretends it is not infinite and unlimited. For example, you pretend you are one single human rather than all things.
Thoughts fixated on specific concepts ultimately fixate on limitation. If your thoughts fixate on the human experience, you reinforce to yourself that you are merely human.
Silence of mind, the ceasing of thought, overcoming the desire to speak in the silence, frees the consciousness from the limitations of the human experience. Emptiness is a form closer to infinity than the limitations of specific fixations of thought. Emptiness is like a canvas where all things have the potential to manifest. It reflects the nature of the Source. When embracing emptiness of mind, one can more easily connect to the Source.

@@circleinforthecube5170 I enjoy aspects of being human too, despite how almost incomprehensibly painful it can be at times.
It’s important to remember that all those concepts of the human experience that are beautiful and meaningful won’t be lost from your awareness as it expands to higher realities. You’ll still be able to experience, express, and refine those things via different mediums in different realities. If you admire engineering marvels here, you’ll also be able to admire them elsewhere, and usually in greater depth.
