She won't be for long if the right person sees this episode. PTSD by itself doesn't qualify her for disability unless it's to the point that she cannot function in her everyday life. She is considered to be capable of functioning if she can care for her grandchildren, drive and perform what would be considered her basic ADL'S (activities of daily living), she is obviously capable of doing all those things. She's obviously good at lying also as she admitted at the end that she was making payments but told JJ it was a gift. She was convincing enough for the doctors to state that she cannot function well enough to be gainfully employed. She only needs to earn $500.00 a month to reach that status and lose her disability.

I love when people borrow money from family and then stop paying because of their own personal reasons like "being a victim of a violent crime" and then just expect the person who loaned the money to forgive it. That's not how life works. A bank wouldn't say oh you poor thing, we'll just forgive the loan. You still have to pay it back period. Not to mention the idiot made it clear that it was a loan at the end and that she was lying the whole time about it being a gift. Those people are career victims.

I don't think that's fair. You don't know what it's like having PTSD or you wouldn't make a statement like that. JJ steamrolled over that poor woman's disability. She makes it sound like PTSD makes you retarded. It doesn't. You can still take care of yourself and others. But you also have certain triggers. The reason that people get Disability for PTSD is because it's hard to navigate around those triggers. There was no mention from the defendants about forgiving the loan. They thought it was a gift to begin with. Most likely the plaintiff started in on them and they felt guilty about not paying him so they agreed to pay so much. It's not always black and white. You can't make judgments about a person if you haven't lived their life.

Judge Judy's problem with the defendants is less the fact they borrowed money from her uncle multiple times -- we've all had to borrow money from a friend or a family member at one point in our lives -- and more because he doesn't work a regular, steady job while she doesn't work at all. They borrow money they don't have the ability to repay. If she needed a car to run around town and take care of simple errands like grocery shopping, that's fine. Not everyone lives in an area with great public transportation. I sure as heck don't. However, you don't need your dream car. You need a basic, serviceable car that will get you from point A to point B and back again. That's what she meant by "givers" and "takers."

Now that I'm older i can see where most of the "issues" people have they tend to exploit because for some reason our society rewards such things. Then you get more of it, naturally. The harder the work the more the demons are dispelled.
